Wow about a year ago it was 5.5 pesos to USD and now it is 8.2 (or so). I wonder how much worse it gets.

This is what happens when you have a tiny thieving elite in control of everything and a populace that's too helpless to do anything about it. Most of the people losing their shirts this time around seem to be speculative hedge fund people. No big loss there, it's like bad people robbing each other.

Considering the news...

Is there any chance that Argentine women get desperate as a result? Can economics trump centuries of prudish culture? I really hope so.[Image: tard.gif]

Default is only declared by countries and not by vultures or Risk Rating agencies like S&P or Moody. We paid on time in what can be called a chess like move, forcing BONY to have the money as legally once deposited belongs to the creditors and BONY acts as payable agent. So either disobey Judge or face multiple court appeals. Brilliant!!

It is under negotiation at the moment and there might be a final solution, one that doesnt risk RUFO; but in no way Argentina will have default like in 2001. Even if there is no settlement, technical default would be only for few months and since we dont need external aid for bigger projects and only small amounts of money were asked for specific things, then there is no risk. If this is the only solution in order to avoid activating RUFO before end december 2014 triggering court appeals for no less than 250 billion then come default.
But if there is a real solution, then go for it, bloody vultures!
So, all of you trying to find desperate women, this is no wasteland.

Plus, I read somewhere that the city is expensive for tourists in dollars, so maybe there are cheaper locations.
if you come here, dont expect desperate women unless they are barrio girls or hookers.

If you want quality you will have to deal and dance with social circles which is not what one expects for a one night stand.
If you decide to stay you will see this country is not bad at all, have better qualities than most asian countries or any other latin american country.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

On the first point, Buenos Aires is actually a bargain now for people with $$. Using the street rate, BA is 37% cheaper than Bangkok and half the price of Bogota! http://www.expatistan.com/cost-of-living...rency=ARSX

On the second point, we will see. When the Argentine peso becomes toilette paper, the women may become a little less frigid. It's in their best interest lol.

That cost of living calculator is super useful!

Why is Argentina better than most latin american countries?

Chile seems to be more stable and prosperous while Brazil has better looking women.

Mmmmmm, and those colombianas? Bootyful.

Default is established when one fails to pay on time, not when one pays what they want.

Many people think that Brazilian women are "better looking" than Argentinian women... but I disagree :

It's just that the weather usually is hotter in Brazil (especially up North), so women dress "sexier", act sluttier, and therefore look, on first examination, better. On first examination only! : If you check closer or better, Argentine women will rank first. Genes are better I guess, in Argentina.

As for Chile, yes the country is more stable, clean and quite wealthy, but, women there are more, like, plain. Not bad-looking per se, but more average-janes.

Anyway, if Argentina defaults, opportunities for the clever rooshers will arise. It's obvious, almost mathematical, logical. Despair will loosen/lower local bitch-shields [Image: wink.gif]

I find Argentinian nationalism to be completely laughable but our good buddies posting from that country are somewhat right on the broad point about this not being entirely Argentina's fault.

If you want to look at history the country is fucked up because it tried to follow bad IMF/World bank advice back in the day. They were fed policies nonsense by hardcore neoliberal economists. This has led to a long string of crisis involving debt, restructuring, and the resulting potemkin like economy.

It's highly unlikely Argentina will ever get back on real development track unless they clean house though. There's just way too many hands in the cookie jar in that country. Besides being good at football, Argentina is also a world leader in kleptocracy.

Developing markets are prone to pump and dump insider trading because there's little oversight. Don't interpret too much from it since there's probably a few billionaires there churning the market for their own reasons.

With a country quite full of proud/hard-to-crack beautiful women, like Argentina, only a major, sudden disaster can change their behaviour and bring us (foreigners) added value. And it does seem that this major disaster has just happened today.

So, how long before this default/corralito translates into medium-class chicks having to chase after first-World foreigners? Well, give it 2 months, and I'm willing to bet that Argentina will be very interesting to visit[Image: wink.gif] Promising times ahead...

At long last, Argentina will become the poosy paradise it always should have been!? All that was needed was, real, sudden money trouble for the (mostly beautiful) local medium-class chicks...

Also, there's no way inflation can compensate/match the pace of peso devaluation (due to Defaulting ) : so, travel to Argentina will indeed become cheaper, a lot, and soon! [Image: smile.gif]

Hmm, I used to live there.

My impression is that the elite of the country being totally corrupt and incompetent is closer to the truth.

You have no chance of even being in the running for a general election unless you stole / lied / fucked your way to the top of a large pyramidal corrupt 'elite' class.

And when I say 'elite', what I really mean is parasitic.

So, at general elections, Argies only have a choice of which corrupt liar and thief they want to steal their tax pesos and fuck up their economy.

Argentinian people are aware of this and are extremely angry but they don't know what the solution is.

This applies to about 70% of all the countries of the World, I guess [Image: wink.gif]

The elites stealing everything is the symptom but not the cause. There are plenty of developing countries where the elites try to steal everything but economic policies mitigate their theft somewhat.

Premature deregulation and lassaize faire policies before the country was ready made it easier for the elites to rob the country. Argentina was notably worse off after trying to follow IMF plans. The country never went through proper land reform or even tried to develop an industrial foundation. Premature deregulation made the banking system highly corrupt. They started to do some half-assed ISI economic model and then basically went downhill after that.

Explains it all perfectly

Crime which is already high there is gonna get worse, there will be electricity problems cops will want bigger bribes it might be anarchic there soon. People will want US dollars and will be willing to do allot for them including rob you. Watch your butt if u head there until things simmer down. This is a serious thing no one is gonna lend them money in capital markets for a bit of time. If you are brave though and have USD this will be a huge opportunity for you.
