Anyone here know how much a Rolex dealer would charge to authenticate a Rolex (pre-buying inspection)?

I've heard it ranges from $30-$150 for authentication with certification.

I don't know, but any high-end watch dealer would be able to tell rather quickly. I would suggest telephoning a few high-end watch dealers.

I would select a watch dealer based on where you would get the watch serviced and then ask the dealer to credit the cost of any inspection against the cost of your next servicing.

BTW: a typical high-end watchmaker may charge only half as much as an official Rolex service center for an overhaul. So it is worth checking around.

Yea, they will just remove the caseback and check the movement. I don't know how much it will cost though.

I want a cool, "beater" non-quartz watch. I like the complicated design.

Well if your are looking for a Non-quartz watch thats no the way to go considering the Nighthawk is quartz, I own that watch not a bad piece but the face does appear to be a little large due to the fact it doesn't have a bezel.

When looking for a cool/better/Non-quartz watch I would suggest checking out the Seiko SKX007, great piece and very cheap at around $250.

If you can't truly afford a real luxury watch, just buy a cheap Branded or unbranded ones. You could get a classy Timex for less than $30 on Amazon.com and it'd look just as good.

It's extremely rare that you'd run into woman who knows shit about watches. Even if they're able to distinguish the watch brands, they'd still be wondering why you drive a $5k Camry yet wearing a $7k Rolex. It's not congruent.

And any man that knows about watch would be able to tell that you're wearing a fake and lose all respect of you.

I can't take anyone who wear fake watch seriously at all. It's very low.

US$70-90 at the Rolex service center. Less elsewhere, but if you're spending 7k+ on a watch, worth the peace of mind.

I love Panerais. And no, I don't think most girls know that the version below is a $10,000 watch, but fuck them. Its easy to tell its an expensive watch though via the domed sapphire. Girls who've dated wealthier guys will probably know too. Its extremely distinctive and no fakes that I know of. Very limited production, I think this model is 2000 or 1500 serialed units a year.

$10k is certainly a lot but with limited production and a robust market, they don't really drop in value. Its the same as your money sitting in a savings account, but wearing it on your wrist.

Work of art IMO, and its denser than the sun.

Panerais are fine watches but girls won't recognize them and will think they are a Timex or something

Breitlings would be a much better pussy-getter at the same price level

MrXY, Breitlings are even cheaper. Im just fucking infatuated with Panerais. Once I have a certain amount in my IRA and savings, im getting one.

My friend has a upscale one and he claims girls ask about it all the time. It looks like an expensive watch, trust me, but yes it doesnt look much different than my $1500 Hamilton. In person its quality is more obvious, domed sapphire and gold hands.

I like the Breitling chronomats a lot.

If youre really worried about girls, trust me in that some may google that shit on their everpresent smartphones. I believe the absolute cheapest is $6,500 for the PAM011

Lastly, the model above is 47mm, so its huge. I have an average wrist, maybe 7.5" so it may look too big. Breitlings are usually 44mm.

Saturday night I witnessed some dude chatting up a fat western chick and leaving his fancy platinum watch prominently displayed on top of the bar, along with his wallet while we went to the loo.

This being Japan, his stuff was safe. Still, the question remains, who does that? buddy was lucky I didnt pinch it just to be an asshole.

What do you guys think of this manual Swiss watch? I think it is loud enough to attract attention.

Thanks for spotting it dude.
What's the general consensus on this as a EDC watch?

Personally, I think the watch is really busy. I like watches clean and simple. Like 12, 3, 6, 9 and a clean face, I don't even need a date. But that is me. If you get that watch, just be able to explain how it works lol.

The Don, by Nixon

[Image: nixon-the-don-II-watch-available-now-04.jpg]

Not a very prestigious company among watch snobs, but this thing was fairly cheap ($200) and just looks cool as fuck. The pictures don't really do it justice, the band of this watch is so hefty and intimidating. Haven't seen another watch with a band this thick and heavy before.

I know how it works perfectly, and I can use the slide rule too. Thinking of picking up a "field watch" of sorts like a Timex with Indiglo. Bright as hell at night.

I'm not sure women care about watches or cars compared to shoes, pocket squares, and tight low-rise jeans.

In any case, why not buy a Chinese replica? At a minimum I would consider wearing the replica for a few weeks to ensure I like the size and style of watch. FWIW, I had a rose gold Rolex bubble back stolen, and don't want to risk that again.
