That and Planescape Torment.

That too, i loved how deep and complex were the NPC backhistories.

For me by far the best FPS is and always will be Quake 3. The best collaborative/shooter game is Battlefield 2.

Final Fantasy IX was my favorite video game of all time. It was a classic fantasy with great protagonists; a suave lead, a mage, a princess, and the princess' white knight orbiter.

Diablo 2, Mariokart 64, Goldeneye 64 and Dark Age of Camelot (PC MMORPG) were the games I spent the most time on.

Counterstrike has a claim on the greatest video game ever. It's certainly one of the most played.

But I'd put FPS pioneers like Wolfenstein 3D and Doom ahead of it.

Metal Gear Solid's been mentioned a few times. But the game has aged so well, it's earned the right to be named one of the best ever. In some ways I actually prefer the pixelated graphics of the first Playstation game to its successors.

Obviously for older games Super Mario Bros. is there as probably the best platformer. The first Phantasy Star could be the greatest RPG. It had "3D" dungeons long before FPS games existed.

Final Fantasy Tactics for Playstation. Deep gameplay, fantastic artwork.

Chrono Trigger.

Best Rpg I have played.

Final Fantasy 6 is second best, blows 7 away in terms of characters, gameplay and story. No emo bull shit and weird jehova super soldier crap.

Uncharted and Bioshock are recent series that really show what the current gen game systems are capable of and are fun to play.

Batman Arkham Asylum (havent' played city yet) is the best spy game I have played. I liked it better than Metal Gear Solid series (although the game boy color game of that series I liked a lot for some strange reason).

Metal Slug 2 was probably my favorite arcade game.

Too many to count.

I've had so many over the years. Guess you could say I've loved them all equally as my favorites. Wait, were we talking about games or women?

Ah, but in truth... Nerd time:

Secret of Mana
Chronotrigger
Skyrim
Deadspace 2
The whole FF genre
Counterstrike/Team Fortress
Dota 2
WCIII / WoW
Portal
Zelda Series (except the gay reject)
Golden Eye
Diablo 2
Half Life series
Super Metroid
Street Fighter 2
Walking Dead
Halo
Fallout 2 & 3
Unreal Tournament
Mass Effect
Prince of Persia Series
Far Cry 3
Saints Row the Third
Star Fox 64
Black & White
The Witcher
Sim City 2000
Dune
Red Alert C&C
Super Mario 3, 64

Glad I broke the cycle though. Ah nostalgia.

Exactly my thoughts!
Some games that will never be and cannot be forgotten:

Mario Bros I, II, III and IV
Zelda IV on the PES
Monaco Grand Prix on the Sega Genesis
Sonic, on the Sega
Castlevania IV on the PES
Road Racer, on the very first Nintendo.
Super Soccer on the PES.
Fifa 99 on the PES, probably the funnest and coolest of all the FIFA series.
FZero, on the PES
Star Wars on the PES
Mega Man, on the Sega Genesis
Mario Cart on the PES
Mortal Kombat on the Sega,
Street Fighter I, II and III, used to have a bunch of friends show up and play days and nights, even forget about food and anything else as a teen.
Gran Turismo 4 on the PS3

The 2 games that I've spent the most time in the last few years, specially in my early to mid 20s and even as recent as up to last year, have been
Formula 1, 2010, 2011 and 2012 on the PS3 (very addictive game)
But the king of all, the one game that I must spent more time than on anything else to date, (unfortunately), has been Championship Manager for PC. It's a football managerial simulation game where you are the coach and GM of a football club and you run the day to day operations of the club, from the training to the transfers and all while leading your club to greatness. The only negative addiction I've had to overcome over the years and which I only finally managed in the beginning of this year! But damn is that game truly addictive!

Nowadays, the only games I still play, very occasionally, are Fifa and Formula 1, as they are my favorite sports. I do enjoy playing tennis games, but since there aren't many good options in that kind of games, I don't play that anymore.

My favorite game from the sixth generation of consoles was metal gear solid 3. In my opinion no other game came close to rivaling it in terms of graphics, story and effort put into it.

My favorite game from the seventh generation of consoles is the recently released The Last Of Us.

Tetris.

If this game came out only today it'd be the top selling app.

Agreed. If I was going to choose by how many hours I've spent playing, Tetris would be the clear winner for me. Simple concept yet addictive as hell. That game has always been something of a stress reliever for me, going all the way back to high school. They have some nice variants on Facebook games.

I played so many good racing games when I was younger, and overall I'd have to say the Need For Speed series took the crown.

But while we're on the old school nostalgia tip, this game had one of the best soundtracks and most pure racing experiences. Not to mention I learned geography from it, and was one of the few games I bothered to get as an emulator years later:

Side Note: Anyone know if the tracks have been used for remixes or samples at all?

Warcraft was my shit too. Warcraft II was good too.

The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

DAMN! I knew I liked you for a reason Samseau - FFT is by far one of the my favorite games! Ironically enough, I booted it up last week to play a few rounds in Deep Dungeon.

Whats your favorite approaches to jobs? I am a fan of giving monks two swords.

Did you ever steal all of Elmdor's equipment? When I did it in high school I was positively giddy.

As for other games, gotta go with Alpha Centauri by Sid Meier.

I always played the University on the toughest difficulty setting.

Age of Conquerors

[Image: age-of-empires-ii-the-conquerors-expansi...328318.jpg]

I played either Mongols or Spanish, sometimes Saracens. I played ALOT online on the Zone in high school. I was a top-rated player, but could never beat the best of the players - guys rated at insane levels.

Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn

Game is the shit & so is the story. Minsc & Boo are the shit, as well.

Earthbound for SNES

A niche game that is still very playable today.

Assassin's Creed II

[Image: 1557381-assassins_creed_2_flight_5_590x442.jpg]

Back in summer 2010, the entire month of July I played this game through like six times. Still love it. Best of the series by far.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2

My favorite of the series. Manuals were introduced and you could still rack up huge numbers doing vert.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

[Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQP0HgKqdoCxQ2zpixb9ld...Fgr6i5ZbOQ]

By far my favorite, right after GTA 4: Ballad of Gay Tony. The game was the shit and the 80's music was a great touch. Still addictive. Vice City Stories, as it is good as well. Liberty City Stories was good, as well.

Skyrim

Had to. Thought I would fail out of law school when this dropped. Three weeks of nothing but Skyrim & vodka (maybe some other substances....)

Great call on Warcraft one. I first played it back in sixth grade and it was the video game that really got me hooked on video games.

I liked the orcs but preferred the humans.

Yeah, FF3 was very good. I played it for PS when it came out in that compilation with Chrono Trigger.

Advance Wars series from GBA onwards. Elegant user interface and game play. Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics are similar, but Advance Wars allows the player to skip through all the dialogue and carry on with the battles. There's also no character leveling involved, simplifying the game even further.

"The whole point of being alpha, is doing what the fuck you want.
That's why you see real life alphas without chicks. He's doing him.

Real alphas don't tend to have game. They don't tend to care about the emotional lives of the people around them."

NBA 2k13

Only game I am playing right now. Go Celtics! (maybe not next year....)

Exile 3

[Image: 7323-exile-iii-ruined-world-windows-3-x-...-party.gif]

Company that made this is belly-up, but I highly recommend you check it out. It is fucking TOUGH. Most difficult game besides Dwarf Fortress.

Paper Mario for Wii

Lunar Silver Star Story

Diablo

[Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ4uQHjHxyzxtxCenc6sCk...YMg_jWI_Fg]

People forget this game (plus Baldur's Gate 1) single-handedly revived RPG's for computer games.

It has been overshadowed by Diablo 2 & 3, the original captured the dark dungeon crawl perfectly. It's random generation of the dungeon makes for serious replay-ability. Fuck a story, I love the bloodshed & pillaging.

Now that I think about, anybody know any resources about the history of video games? I think if somebody made a resource about the evolution of video games could make bank. Video games survive economic downturns - the demand is constant.
