Are there any blog analyses on what a fucked up ratio does to the attitudes of women at bars?

I actually had a good time in DC this weekend, but I went to a holiday house party, which doesn't really count since most guys on here are interested in public and open places. One thing that struck me though was how international the people at the party were. There was one HOT blond Finnish opera singer who's fiance was a brotha from Alabama. They met at 18th Street Lounge. Not that most guys on here are looking to get engaged, but I mentioned in an earlier post about DC spots that 18th Street Lounge on Sunday nights draws quite a few Euroheads, meaning it's common to meet chicks from Europe on those nights.

I also met a cat that produced a documentary from South Africa, a white South African, Ethiopian girls that lived in Panama and Jordan, an Israeli, a couple of people who've been to Yemen, etc. There's not too many cities out there where you meet a lot of folks like that at just a regular house party. But, then again, unlike NYC, most folks in DC work in similar industries (government, international NGOs, political consulting, etc). You're bound to get asked "what do you do?" within the first few questions.

There were a few cute girls. A few white dudes were on the Ethiopian chicks hard and they were giving it back to them. However, a lot of these kinds of chicks lack that femininity that I grew to love in Latin America. DC has to be the most polar opposite to that of any major US city. I bagged a chick that looked like Jenna Bush. I actually thought it was her when I saw her.

Eden last night. 50/25, Ratio=2:1

Did you go out to Eden last night? I was there and I can definitely confirm that it was a sausage fest to the max. The ratio was like 3 girls to 1 guy and I couldn't dance with girls let alone pick them up.

The DC ratio blog is gone. Why?

There was a blog but basically it's because of the recession - in 2007 it was not great but you did not have the problems you do now

For Men:
1) the recession threw tons of IT guys out of work who came to DC since it was the only place with jobs
2) defense contractors (who are the major non-government employer around here - entitlements spend a lot of money but don't have many employees) have hired a lot due to the wars

For Women:
1) the recession made it difficult for people to hire slender foreign au pairs
2) the cost of living is sky high in DC and discourages girls from studying here
3) most important: most women work for BS non-profits who saw their donations vanish into thin air after 2008 - they got laid off and left the city

Why would any guy want to live in DC?

It beats Toronto and Copenhagen. I know this from personal experience.

Is it the best major city in American (say top 40 in metro area population)? No. But it's not the worst. When it comes to women, I'll take DC over Boston, Denver, or SF Bay any day.

A lot of nerdy guys like myself find DC an improvement from where we were previously. That doesn't mean it's good.

And some jobs are DC based no matter what. If you come here married or whatnot (basically not trying to pick up), and have the salary to afford living there, it's actually pretty good, as long as you live in NW or Arlington.

Some copyright issues came up in my blog. Those weren't my pictures, they're collected from various places on the web, so there might be copyright infringement if I don't attribute the ones that are copyrighted. Even if I do attribute them, it might be illegal to redistribute their photos without permission, so it's a thorny issue.

It's no big deal if it's just a couple of photos, but I saw the site get a huge amount of traffic including from some nightlife organizations.

I'm currently considering what to do with it. I might change into a textual blog about DC nightlife and other issues related to the ratios, or only use specific non-copyrighted photos, but there's not a lot of those. Thoughts/suggestions welcome.

Taking your own pictures would solve that problem.

Who linked you?

Also, come back on Wordpress. They are not as quick to can your site.

Another option is to host the images anonymously on imgur and just link to it from the blog.

I'm surprised that after all the complaining about DC and ratios on this fourm that certain things about DC's nightlife remain such a giant mystery. I'm going to put it as simply as possible, what Roosh and his blogging friends (VK, Roissy, the Rookie et all) have figured out.

THE DC CLUB SCENE SUCKS AND IS FULL OF DUDES.

It has been and it always will be this way. In other cities like LA, Miami, and NYC clubs may attract considerable amounts of attractive girls. This is not the case in DC. Why? I have no idea or the time to figure out why. The girls have left and are not returning to these venues. Hell, they probably were never even there in the first place. I'm sure it is no coincidence that over the years as DC's game bloggers became more successful with women they naturally gravitated aways from these (dcbachelor.com/9-rules-of-opening-a-dc-club) type of places.

I welcome and support the ratio blog or any such tool that helps getting laid in DC easier but you have to remember in this town there is no free lunch.

Bonus points if anyone remembers how bad Indeblue, or Blue Gin all were.

A lot of the anger with DC probably is not just because of the bad situation with chicks (it's definitely bad). It comes from all of the other garbage you have to put up with living in the area. The sky high cost of living, the horrible traffic, the poor infrastructure, extortionate rent, and truly unpleasant people (I'm always stunned at how people genuinely want to socialize with me when I travel to Baltimore). You add that on top of having to deal with the chicks problem (which I would argue exists in other major american cities - not all of them - but some of them), that's where the hostility comes from.

All true. So sadly true. Interestingly, women complain about DC just as much.

I agree. Plus, it seems like there is a high percentage of overweight women to be a place where people make decent money.

Naturally DC sucks, but is it just DC? For example, I've heard a lot of good things about Tampa on the board, which has made me think it's a lot better. Admittedly I haven't gamed there, but I present:

DC is basically ground zero. The rest of the country gets what we have a few years after the fact.

It used to be "That problem is only in DC!" Not anymore. To predict the USA in five years, look at DC right now.

It's Drynk, which is more of a club and the link is a photo at MacDinton's.

God, that's a scary thought. Gotta figure even the sausage will catch on eventually and lose interest. Seems like something's got to give, no?

I've seen good ratios recently at a couple of French Embassy parties and at the Mad Hatter; and the women even seem a little friendlier than before. Could it be that enough men have gotten discouraged, and enough women have gotten tired of sitting at home with their cats, that the ratios and attitudes are starting to normalize somewhat, even if it's only temporary?

I had to pick between DC and Boston recently and I'm glad to hear confirmation that I picked well... Wonder if I can find a way to do well in the city.. I feel all the girls will be plain and ugly compared to what I have now..

How about this yelp review of Tattoo bar in DC?

Ha!

http://www.yelp.com/biz/tattoo-bar-washi...ayI2_ev4Ag

My single girlfriends love Tattoo because the music's always danceable, the proportion of guys to girls is often noticeably in our favor, and it doesn't seem to attract those middle-aged guys in fancy suits ostentatiously enjoying bottle service at their reserved table and "grudgingly" inviting you to join them. Instead it has drunk twenty-something guys ostentatiously enjoying bottle service at their reserved table and begging you to join them, which is preferable.

I usually find this to be one of the less pretentious nightclubs in the area, but it's super small (long and narrow) so even a couple groups of douchey friends can swing the spirit of the place.

It's also hard to get past how crowded it is, given the layout. The dance floor doubles as the hallway to the bathroom, which is annoying whether you really have to pee or you really want to dance without being bumped out of the way by someone who really has to pee.

Roosh mentioned this bar in his new book. I was there last month with another forum member.

Her description of Tattoo is accurate. Painfully accurate.

The US is definitely the biggest sausagefest I've ever seen, wonder If the problem is so bad in the rest of the Anglosphere (Canada, Australia, NZ, UK and even Ireland). I would think Its a problem of the strange way cultures have evolved in the anglosphere countries, you dont see those sausages happening nearly as common, and definitely not in the dramatic way it goes in the US anywhere out of the anglo world.

First you have to have a concrete definition or representation of sausagefest that can be measured. Not just some one-off "unreproduceable" pictures that one doesn't know if it was just a bad night or a trend. I know the never-married stats usually look funny, but if you're talking about never married, or maybe never married plus a certain % of divorce/married etc...all 1st world nations are fucked.

(I've probably written this a dozen times on here but) In the US, from 2009 stats, it was 19 million unmarried guys from 20 to 34 vs. 15 million unmarried women. That's 26% excess overall, but if you narrow down on the 25 to 29 range it is 38% excess. I think my number for Canada is from 2006 (but age adjusted to 2011), it was 2,532,020 never married guys vs 2,218,065 women from 20 - 34 (makes sense when you consider US is ~9x population of Canada). I looked at UK and/or Australia once and the ratios were pretty similar to Canada.

I know it's not an Anglo country, but I'm familiar with the stats, Italy is as bad as the US if not a touch worse...once you hit 30/31 it's 40% more unmarried men than women and it never gets better and there is virtually no escape (ie, there is no region or province with more never married women than guys, so unlike US where it gets from worse to less worse or as reasonably balanced as you can hope...from West Coast to East Coast).

Where are you getting the numbers from on te US? Gay marriage shouldn't factor in at this point, so each marriage takes roughly one man and one woman out f the pool. There are not 4 million more men age 2008 to 34 in the united States.

Even never married sounds suspicious.
