North Korea is a joke. We would intercept any nuke they sent at us and then wipe them off the face of the map.

North Korea flares up like a bad case of genital herpes about every few years.

Usually this is because they receive aid from various countries and they use a marketing technique called anchoring to negotiate a deal. NK pretends to get mad so that countries giving them aid will say fine we will give you X amount of resources if you remain dormant for a few years. Then the contract runs out and the cycle repeats.

Then just like herpes, and coincidentily Gmac, they disappear for a while.

NK will not strike first. They are a small dog with a loud bark

But rationality keeps this from from happening. Yes they have grievances and beef but money always talks. The two have advantageous economic agreements and though small keeps the aggressor NK at bay. SK has money and USD$ that North Korea needs to by shit like energy. North Korea also signs its death letter if it over extends into the South. The only way to makes sense for North Korea would be for China extended an offer or push-play that leaves NK stronger then it is now, and then what I would be post a million lives lost after a fire fight with America over aggressions over the South.

I still think Japan is the herring in all of this. China looking to weaken it, America maybe even looking to liquidate its presences and commitments there. Japan can't buy much more USA Debt past that Japan is not much of an ally. America can get more bang for its buck controlling India then it can Japan right now.

They both had a good deal going where Japan woe by debt and have a USA blanket of secruity. Japan could thus strong arm it's policies and influence in the region even though many other Nations have eclipsed its military power in recent decades.

Foreign Policy more then a chess match is more like a magic trick where the magician wants you to look one hand instead of the other.

NK announcing today it is re-starting it's rector which I believe they used to use to enrich plutonium. This is hot air and migt even just be a push play to tell client states it will have nuclear materials ready for purchase soon. The process from getting the ant running and back to processing is notice turning on light bulb so it's ingesting to see them so dumb and open about it.

My Chinese connects whose family are very senior in CCP give me the impression the Chinese are exasperated and embarrassed by the NKns.

They would certainly not back them if they attacked SK or the USA.

The Chinese just would not want a USA-backed Korea being unified but they would prefer that to a war with the USA which would be WW3 imo

I agree. If the US attacked N. Korea without N. Korea attacking US or S. Korea first though, there might be a problem. I don't think we'd do it though. At least not in this decade.

Like what I said earlier, China will invade NK. China's 2 biggest trading partners are surprise surprise, the USA and South Korea.

Missile defense will never work (for ICBMs; warheads that deploy in the atmosphere are a completely different technical problem and it's solvable). Bolded for emphasis. The North Korean missile program is a joke. Only recently have they even succeeded in launching a missile- that is, getting it to lift off without blowing up. They don't have the educational system necessary to produce the kind of advanced physicists needed to develop this kind of technology. In fact, this kind of technology is so advanced that only a select few nations are capable of producing long-range ICBMs.






Paranoid U.S. citizens really have nothing to worry about, but I can't say the same for the citizens of South Korea....

I know this has a lot to do with why a person/country is the way it is and acts the way it does.

I see a lot of overconfidence from people. The thing is, North Korea is crazy and this is something to be nervous about and to not take lightly. Chances are nothing will happen, however, there is still a chance and people seem to be not taking this seriously.

If they nuke a city, will we "never forget" like we never forgot about 9/11?

The biggest problem with NK's army is lack of sustainability. They could invade and conquer SK, but their army would be starving in less than 3 months. That's when coalition forces would come in and clean house.

He's their culture, their traditions, their values, everything. It says a lot about NK that SK's immediate retaliation plan in case of N. Korean attack is to target Kim Jong Un and every statue of him, his father, and his grandfather. Also NK has no delivery system for their warheads that can pass any further then a little past Japan. Ever wonder why they aren't testing missiles in the South Pacific or Indian Ocean ? It is because they can't reach any of those areas.
