It is ridiculous to put pure Europeans, pure Negroes, pure Amerindians, and all the mongrels in the same bag. These people live different lives, they belong to different classes / castes, they have different cultures, and different values.

Dealing with a German-Brazilian chick from Porto Alegre is not the same as dealing with a favela mongrel from Rio, or a black chick from Salvador da Bahia. I can somewhat agree with this. But at the same time, when someone looks good they look good. I wasn't too into the girls in the south. I thought they were WAAAYYYY over hyped. But then again the reason why is pretty much stated above. All the Brazilian dudes will tell you the south has the best women, but for me nowhere I've been in Brazil compares to Espirito Santo or Minas Gerais. I can't wait to check out Belo Horizonte one of these days. I'm more for the girls with the in between look, more the morenas.

Mehhh, South Brazil maybe. You'll find a good amount if Rio and Sao Paulo, but further north it starts to get more shakie for finding white women. I mean it's obvious that the best place to find white girls is Europe, the states, canada, or Australia. What they probably consider "white" in brazil, probably isn't exactly what would fall under the category most guys who like white european girls would be thinking.

What they consider 'white' would be exactly what people in Europe consider white. It isn't Mexico, where many people are ignorant of their genetic makeup. As Icarus pointed out, Brazil is a racially stratified country with every race accounted for. I.E "Pardos, "Brancos", "Caboclos" etc

If you are saying that 51.7% are white as in Italian, greek or Spanish white, with a darker shade, then yes, but not white as in scandinavia or England or Australia. A lot of guys I know that like white girls wouldn't really go for Italians, greek or Spanish as much

Those white (more blonde type) in the south of brazil are over hyped,pretentious, bad attitude, not really as interesting as the more morena as from rio or other cities in brazil. They got that status as mentioned above.

Half white half native = latino.
Half native, quarter white, quarter black = Latino.
100% white = white.
100% black = black.
100% native = native.
But when they are mixed native and something else then they are latino. In my eyes.

My Portuguese teacher is a tall caucasian blond (6-1) born in El Paso, Texas. Since she moved to Brazil at age 5 and is fluent in Portuguese not being raised in a gringo international school, she considers herself full blown Latin American.

I consider myself to be latino american of the light skinned variety. I'll explain why..

My nationalities are Greek, French and Scot but I don't really look like any of them too too much so brings me to the point that the center on the map of those three countries is Spain and I'm in America so Latin-American. Mixx said I look like an Argie and some girl told me the other day in a Cuban restaurant that no way in hell I'm not Cuban. Random people walk up to me in the mall and speak spanish every time I go.

Does this make sense?

As A European, I'd say you're a tanned white person. And that's how you'd be seen here, whatever European country you were in. We have Southern European football players, as well as Argentinians, Uruguayans etc who play on our teams week in week out, so the look isn't exotic....But as you're American, you listed your race on your profile as Hispanic. Therein lies the debate!

Problem 20nation with this way of classifying is that this is just based on phenotype.

Most Paisas in Medellin who look white, for example, have about 10 to 20 percent native blood. But it would be difficult to say just based on their appearance.....you would have to run genetic tests like they have done in some studies.

Same with a lot of white or black Latin Americans, including Brazilians.
Few are 100 percent pure in any race.

No way 51.7% of Brazil is white according to any sane definition. But it doesn't stop the people themselves living in fantasy land.

Why is that so ridiculous...a huge percentage of people in the South of Brazil are first or second generation Italians.
