Its doable, but wear a short-blazer jacket. The short jacket w/a v-neck looks pretty fresh/get compliments.
The seinfield exmpale is exactly what you dont want- A suit jacket that is too long and excessively baggy.
The length I would aim for is just slightly below the hip versus 1/2 down the butt on regular jackets.
Little details make all the difference.
Heres the end-goal look but not quite as tight-fitting, and it would be more versatile if it was a touch longer in the sleeves and front length....
What's your thoughts on this?

If he swapped out the daddy jeans, got dress shoes, lost the Haynes undershirt and threw on a v-neck, would look fine.

What is the point of that picture? I'm sure Seinfeld would make your expensive custom suits look rubbish too G. Complete non sequitur.

You didn't out anyone. It is not gay to compliment (not even compliment, more like acknowledge) another man's physique, I do not want to insert my erect penis into his anus. However, I have noticed that you consistently highlight certain posts with suspicions of them being homosexual in nature. That suggests a problem with gay people, or perhaps you yourself are gay and don't know it.
Back on topic, there's nothing wrong with wearing jeans and a jacket. It is all about picking the right colors, fabrics, and fit.
Edit: Why are you editing posts with things I didn't say? Obsessed lad?

@g-manifesto- heavily padded shoulder (definete no on casual blazers) on suit-jacket make it look-try hard taken the overall look- ragged T-shirt (look at that collar), light blue jeans (vomit), shox nike's (does anybody over 15 or uptight socialite girls on treadmills wear these?).
His goofy smile doesnt help.
Compare this w/above picture- lightly padded shoulder, slightly shorter length gives a more casual feel. That along w/ a v-neck to accentuate your face can look v. fashionable.
@GQ- take it easy man. its all in jest.

I think it's do-able. I wouldn't be beyond it with the right combo. But, I have to say, if I'm going to go for the jacket, I would go the full monty and just wear a suit. No guy in jeans is ever going to look better than a dude in full-on, custom-fit suit. If it's appropriate to wear the jacket, it's appropriate to wear the whole suit, I would think. You could go wrong with the jeans--as if, you're the only dude that showed up with that combo and everyone else was in a full suit. You could look like you half-assed it or were sloppy or low-rent. You couldn't go wrong the other way around, though. If you showed up in a full suit and everyone else was in jeans and jackets, you'd look much better than all of them.
The photos G put up of Seinfeld--he looks like a total fucking idiot. Light colored jeans, cheap-ass jacket, and fucking TENNIS SHOES????
FAIL.
But, some of the other photos on the first page of the thread, I think, show how the look should be done properly (dark, high quality jeans, nice shoes)...
(Still not as good as just wearing the full suit. Can't go wrong--ever)

@G- this photo is depressing on so many levels.... Carrot butter-cake on is CLEARLY a fashionista.
On a side note, she reminds me of those water-barrels to prevent cars for crashing before exiting the freeway.

As a fashion point, it's definitely valid.
I guess I just don't see why you would do it, though. What is the message here? You're going through the trouble of wearing, a nice shirt, tie, nice jacket... Why put on jeans? What are you trying to say? You're clever mix of casual and sophisticated? You want to look good, but couldn't be bothered to put on nice pants? i dunno. Not really my cup-o-tea.
Why not just wear the suit? Same amount of effort is required. You look much better. Meh...

I think the blazer is a good option especially for travelling. I have one with me, I can put it with jeans and also a couple of pairs of pants and it looks good with all the combos. If I lugged around a suit it would mean every time I wanted to dress up I'd have to wear the same suit, unless I want to lug several suits around.
This is fine for guys who are going on short trips but if you're travelling for long periods of time it can be impractical so a blazer is a decent option.

I like the blazer with jeans look, but like others have said a lot of it boils down to colors, fit, and whether everything matches. I'd rock my dark blue Diesal jeans, v-neck, Kenneth Cole blazer, with my Clarks shoes. It's kind of a casual, but also classy kind of look. Funny thing, wearing a blazer at all, even with a v-neck and jeans, people look at me like I'm from outerspace around here, and ask why I'm "so dressed up". I also have rocked the blazer with a nice matching button down, but like that wearing it with v-neck and jeans is more chilled out.

All the dudes on this thread especially #36 just look gay and it's not the jeans. Except Seinfeld who just looks comfortable and rich.

That's because Craig has a rubbish jacket and pair of jeans in that pic. If you replaced the jeans with pants it would still look like shit.

Thoughts on this? You can tell by the fact he's wearing a suit, that this cat has some really tight game.

Or what about this, after ditching the jacket?
