Wearing a suit jacket or blazer with jeans
What's the verdict on this stilo?

Technically that's not a suit jacket, but the point is that as long as you color code and get carry it, most mixes are good.

No problem. The guy's channel is huge and he gives great advice. He has over 250 videos. A lot of them go into great detail even discussing wallet types etc. It would take a while to watch everything, but I highly recommend subscribing to his channel if you have a youtube account. Has some of the best advice out there when it comes to looking sharp.
Another great video. He goes into more than tucking in your shirt.

If a sport coat or odd jacket has texture or a nice pattern, then it can look good with jeans.
First off man, nice Mastroianni avatar..Divorce Italian Style and his Fellini movies 8 1/2 and La Dolce Vita should be the sartorial goal, not Jerry. Back on topic you are right about texture; that's what f---s up the blazer-jeans look. Shiny-@ss jacket with rough-@ss jeans look like complete and utter crap together 96% of the time. I mean Pathetic, a try hard effort to dress up a little that says "I want to look better than my usual slovenly-@ss self but am too afraid to wear a suit" But when its done right, the rougher textures in the jacket complement the jeans.

Have to say I'm with the G on this one.
Given the difficulty of pulling off this look correctly (not worth it in my opinion), as well as being associated with the many try-hards who fail to get the look right, it seems much better to go for a different casual stylish look.
Tough no doubt. You're right that guys should understand degree of difficulty here. I have one jacket (out of 30 or so) I wear with jeans, a rougher grey wool that matches the jeans in feel and texture. And I never wear it with a white, buttoned shirt that bunches up on the jeans and makes you look like a complete tool. I rock a smoother, thinner v neck sweater that matches both the dark jeans and jacket in terms of texture.
But yeah, suits are waaaaay better for this look if you get the fit right, ditch the tie, and blow a couple buttons out. Same effect, waaaaay smoother.

I agree. It's much more difficult to tell the difference between 50 dollar dress pants and 300 dollar dress pants than it is to tell the difference between 50 dollar jeans and 300 dollar jeans.

You don't get any more International Playboy than Lapo Elkann.
Looks like he's not too worried about wearing jeans with his jackets.

Worried about pairing jeans and jackets?
Don't.
Obviously, a Billionaire International Playboy can get away with shit that us mere mortals can't.
But if you have charisma, confidence, and most importantly, Game, then you too can rock your jacket with jeans!

Nice! Having the average guy imitate Lapo is like asking me to imitate that guy who parachuted from space...probably won't work out well for me. And who gets to inherit Gianni Agnelli's jackets?? Just kidding- interestingly, Lapo's going double breasted in alot of those shots. And again, it seems like he's mastered your texture comments.

Yeah, that is like asking a regular guy to use the "peek-a-boo" and just go dominate the Heavyweight division a la Mike Tyson.
But like I said before, it can be pulled off. Lapo can. James Bond can't. It is pretty rarefied air you need to breathe.
Plus, the cigarettes are helping him make up for any short comings.
And still, I would say Lapo Elkann would look sharper in slacks or a suit than those jeans.
This thread started as a guy asking for advice and has devolved into a pissing contest.
Never seen that happen before

46., thegmanifesto,
I absolutely agree about "regular" guys not imitating Lapo.
Hence my statement at the bottom of my post.
On the style blogs and forums there exists a saying:
Dressed By The Internet.
You don't wanna be "That Guy" at the local Buffalo Wild Wings who threw on a bunch of shit he copied from some Italian Billionaire on the Sartorialist.

Not to troll this thread but I can't see Lapo anymore like a trend figure after what happened to him some years ago:
"One of Fiat’s two largest shareholders, the paramour of Italian starlet Martina Stella, the handsome face of the revival of the Fiat brand, and the hero of world fashion press, Elkann almost tossed it all away with a near-fatal overdose of cocaine and heroin downed with an alcoholic chaser while partying with Patrizia, a fifty-four year old transsexual hooker, plus two of her business associates, at her apartment in what passes for Turin’s red-light district."

I really like this style of coat. Cant find good colorful ones like this, probably because the one he's wearing is $$$

Yeah, that one is sick.
Custom. Working button holes on sleeve.
That would be sick for Del Mar Racetrack.
With a pair of slacks of course.
Because even with the jeans, Lapo isn't getting into the Turf Club.

Ok why are we using blazer and suit jacket interchangeably? They are def not the same. Guys look lame when they try the suit jacket with jeans combo imo..now a nice cotton or tweed blazer from nordstorms with ur dark jeans makes you look money

This was my favorite as well. His straps are pretty original also.Jacket colors wouldn't mesh w/my complexion and hair tho. Its a danger of dressing like other people....
Edit- Think he would look even better w/darker jeans w/a little bit of fade near the pockets.
WIA- For most of men, our time being masters of our own fate, kings in our own castles is short. Even those of us in the game will eventually succumb to ease of servitude rather than deal with the malaise of solitude
Zegna in Las Vegas had a dope custom Gun Club Check in store that they had made for a fashion show there. The fabric was unreal, and they actually made a few more of them for sale after the show. The jacket was $2300 or they would have made a whole suit.
It was similar to this one. I tried searching for the exact one, but I cant find it anywhere.

Yes, I wanted to get his opinion on this whole "jeans" thing. There was a controversy at work about people wearing jeans. I voted "no jeans", most people didn't care. The cowboy is the boss and he said -- "no jeans on company time, this aint a ranch"
But, I admit, I'm biased, I don't like jeans. I think denim is a cheap looking material.
Denim isn't created equal. Have you ever wore a pair of raw selvedge (not salvaged) denim? Most people have no clue what good denim is, and those who thibk thest do believe it means 7 For All Mankind. It doesn't.
Check out the Self Edge store on SF and you will gain a whole new appreciation for denim.
