Stupid phone.
But to sum it up, the awesomeness of how you feel and the health benefits of getting tons of vitamins you're probably not getting enough of is well worth it.

Well, I ordered a juicer. I wish I had done this 10 or 20 years ago, but better late than never I suppose. The point about getting vegetables in that you normally wouldn't otherwise eat is key. Beets and celery are great, but there is no way I am cooking or eating them on a regular basis.

I don't have a juicer, but I have been using Garden of Life brand powdered greens for the past weeks and I must say I love it.
My energy levels are up, and not in a soda/espresso/hit of crack kind of way. It's a clean feeling, and I actually noticed it after I worked a double (restaurant job) and noticed I wasn't at all tired on my way home. It's easy to fall asleep and easy to wake up.
Got drunk last Friday, had my powdered juice drink right before going to sleep to see how it would aid a hangover - I woke up fresh as a daisy.
Right now I take one scoop and mix it with pomegranate juice, water, and good ol' Bragg's ACV. It tasted terrible at first, but so did the ACV months ago.

been on this for a bout a week straight now. here is what i've been juicing/eating:
Breakfast: 1 bunch of kale, 1 green apple, 1 cucumber - 50 grams vegetable protein with BCAA and l-glutamine
Lunch: 1 bunch of kale, 1 green apple, 1 bunch of celery - 50 grams of same
dinner - normal meal lots of protein
feeling good, though dont know about fat loss just yet. psyched to be getting enormous amount of greens into my system daily.
I have dabbled with other stuff as well including:
full head of purple cabbage plus many carrots - upset my stomach
collard greens - didnt like taste
mustard greens - WHOOPS - don't do that
dino kale - too bitter
watermelon - awesome but a treat only
have tried mixing in lemons and ginger but also not a fan so much
I'm doing the juicing in the morning for breakfast and lunch and bringing to work
plan to do this for a while and see if i can't get rid of some stubborn fat

Would one or 2 juice drinks a week be enough to help out your body? Or do you have to drink multiple glasses a day to get results?

Thanks Mike. I thought I was eating a healthy amount of vegetables but now I know how much more I can get.
Real stuff here.

I enjoy a carrot and apple juice drink but I can't stomach drinks with spinach or broccoli in yet.

I've been making a juice with the following ingredients:
3-4 leaves of kale
2 beets (smallish)
3 medium carrots
4 stalks of celery
After juicing, I stick it in the fridge to cool, then drink. Fairly tasty, but beets do predominate. Breville juicer makes about 16 oz from all of these vegetables. It will make your shit red/reddish because of the beets. I think I will bump up the kale content in the future.

In my commercial kitchen, we use the Champion brand of juicers. I think you can get em online just north of $250. I like their ease of cleaning. I have the luxury of juicing at work and I just give the dirty parts to the dishwasher, ha!
I know there's gonna be plenty of debate here what the real health benefits of juicing are. Frankly I could give a shit, I absolutely 100% notice the way I FEEL. I'm on a pretty protein intensive diet and that can lead to periods of sluggishness during the day. I stay away from apple juice because of the sugar but it's good to have something to sweeten the juice; I use carrots and blueberries.
My go to recipe:
half bunch of parsley
a big fistful of spinach
1 celery stalk
1 carrot
1 clamshell of blueberries
a golfball sized piece of ginger
This yields about a 12 ounce glass, tastes great, and makes me feel great. Obviously you could multiply this recipe to get enough juice for a full day or two. I don't drink these every day but I'll probably start soon.
Off topic, my daily shake is whey protein, creatine, raw cacao, goji berries, and maca with purified water. Unless I've got a slammed day and I'm busy and forget, I drink 1 of these a day with 2 more protein-and-water drinks throughout the day. 3 glasses of ACV water. I've only gotten this intensive the last few months but I'd say the results are noticeable. I'm looking forward to continuing this regimen and see my results in 6 months.

I've been juicing, daily, for about 18 years. I primarily use the Rolls Royce of juicers--the Norwalk. I also have an Omega gear-press juicer which is also excellent. I'm heavy into green juicing (celery, cucumber, kale, dendelion, lambs quarters, collards, cilantro, parsley, sunflower sprouts, buckwheat sprouts, plus an apple and some ginger). The ULTIMATE in remaining youthful.

I didn't want to start a new thread so I thought I would bump this a bit. I need an extremely powerful liver cleanse that doesn't have Vitamin A in it.
Would anyone know about this?

Not sure what your definition of "extremely powerful" is, but milk thistle and UNSWEETENED cranberry juice are great for the liver... minimal vitamin A in the cranberry juice.

Hey fellas,
Great thread. MikeCF has gotten me interested in juicing, especially after watching the TED video.
My girlfriend really wants a juicer bad so I'm going to gift her one for Christmas. I've decided on the Omega 8006 given the fact that I want to juice primarily kale, ginger, parsley, celery, etc. It's received sterling reviews on Amazon.
My question to juicing is twofold:
1) On account of many of the vitamins found in the juice are fat soluble, do you guys consume fat while drinking your juice? I'm thinking stirring in organic virgin coconut milk to lend plenty of fat;
2) Do you consume the juice separate from a meal? I've read in some places that you should consume the juice at least 20 minutes prior to a meal so as to not impede it being quickly absorbed in the small intestine.
Your insight is greatly appreciated.

Just juiced tonight for the first time thanks to this thread. I will say that the taste, although not great, wasn't as bad as I imagined it could be and I had relatively little trouble drinking it down. I used beets, carrots, celery, a lemon and an apple. Not bad. Started with the Breveille Compact for $100. I thought cleaning it would be a pain but took less than five minutes or so to wash. Will try to use regularly and see what kind of boosts I get. Appreciate the info, all.

Are you guys mostly using juicing additively or are you juice fasting? How harmful has juice fasting (while adding protein into the juice) been to strength gains if you're trying to diet? The whole time I was watching Fat Sick and Nearly Dead I was thinking "yeah but this would kill my strength gains while cutting."
I've juiced for about a week so far and love it.

I'm an overweight guy with a family history of diabetes. I've been juicing as part of a weight-loss regimen. I just went to the doctor, and had them test my blood sugar. It came back normal/low.
Anecdotes aren't data, but they aren't nothing either.
