Zinc has made me a better man.

I've been taking a shitty Trader Joe's brand Calcium, Magnesium, and Zinc tablet. I didn't really want the calcium, but I'd been wanting to get on zinc for a while, and it was right there. The magnesium is supposed to be good for men's health too.

I've been on it for like three weeks and have noticed that my skin--which is ordinarily very clear--has been even clearer lately (no jinx). I looked it up, and apparently zinc is also good for acne.

I didn't realize, though, that I was taking a mere 15mg, since that's the "recommended dose." I just doubled it to 30mg and will increase to 50mg if that goes well.

Interesting. I guess Zinc can be added to the Green tea/Apple cider vinegar/Coconut Oil health list.

People are not very good at judging their own skin quality. I read a recent trial where a new skin product was tested and everyone involved, both on the placebo and treatment arms, was raving about how their skin was blemish free. But when the researchers checked the before and after photos and counted the pimples, the amount of pimples was exactly the same for all involved.

Anyway, zinc deficiency does cause acne, so if you are zinc deficient, your acne may clear up. But not all acne is due to zinc deficiency. I take zinc daily and I still get acne if I don't use my benzyl peroxide lotion.

Any updates from those who have tried it? I'm not sure if I see any difference, but I'm not looking for it either so I don't know...

I don't take it every day but I do take zinc and I've had positive results energy-wise.

Do you take 3 mg per kg body weight? That's how much zinc is needed to achieve increase of 40% in free testosterone according to the research.

Related to this, in 4-Hour Body, Tim Ferriss has written a chapter specifically to TRIPLE testosterone. He has two protocols for that, involving vitamin D, lots of fat, brazil nuts, and grass-fed beef. Also, putting the handphone far away from your balls.

Brazil nuts contains lots of selenium which according to a research is also a testosterone booster.

Another good course is Mike Mahler's The Importance of Optimizing Hormones.

I don't understand why you quoted this study. According to this study:
"The results showed that 4-week simultaneous and separately zinc and selenium supplementation had no significant effect on resting testosterone and lactate levels of subjects who consume a zinc and selenium sufficient diet. It might be possible that the effect of zinc supplementation on free testosterone depends on exercise."

You quoted a science article which disproves what you are saying?!?!?

The only thing those crazy Iranian scientists discovered in this pathetic study of 32 subjects (divided into four groups, as if the sample size weren't pitiful enough) was that zinc increases total testosterone - which counts both active and inactive testosterone types. Free testosterone, the active type, was not affected in this study.

LOL my bad, I forgot to add that there are different kinds of selenium:

- Sodium Selenite
- Selenium Chelate
- Selenomethionine

AFAIK, Selenomethionine is the best form of selenium. It could be that the scientists used the other form of selenium.

Just take 7 caps, and get the rest of the zinc from your food.

Don't you run out of caps really quickly like that, is it really sustainable?

I now take a lot less because I fixed my deficiency. You should NOT take zinc in mega dose for longer than you need to because minerals are not like vitamins and when you have to much of one mineral the balance of the others gets messed up. I now take 10 mg a day and in the form of Zinc liver chelate.

I am now taking something for my adrenal glands and focusing on getting them back to normal. Most westerners have weak adrenal glands. These are very important because they are what makes you want to get up and do stuff (without the aid of coffee). If you have a stressful life, do drugs, drink, have a stressful job or girl friend you probably have stressed adrenal glands. You can google adrenal fatigue symptoms for more info because there are a lot of them. Wishing wellness to all you brothers.

I have also been eating grass fed liver once a week after reading about how in the jungle the king lion always gets to eat the liver. It is like a multi-vitamin of foods and its health benefits are very strong. I think chemical based vitamins can do more harm than good for us and I try whenever possible to go the food based route, whether through food I eat or the supplements I am taking.

On the grass fed liver - I flash fry in a pan with grape seed oil at high heat for a minute or so on each side so I can eat it as rare as possible. Thus not destroying the nutrients through over cooking.

The study is 3mg of zinc sulfate per kg of body weight. As I posted above, zinc sulfate is about 23% elemental zinc and zinc gluconate is about 13% elemental zinc. I just did the calculation myself for zinc gluconate (the type of zinc I have) so I'll share it with the board for the non-math types:

3.0mg zinc sulfate per kg body weight
5.3mg zinc gluconate per kg of body weight
0.69mg elemental zinc per kg of body weight

Mind the molecules everyone! No point in a dose being either ineffective or an overdose.

Nice info... forgot to add I have been eating 2-3 handfuls of pumpkin seeds a day, spread out through the day. It is one of natures best sources of zinc and should be in every sexual artists arsenal.

Taking too much Vitamin A or Zinc, for example, can dehydrate the skin.

^^^^This. This is one of the main reasons I come to the site.

I ordered this http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/br...id=SO-1988 . I'm going to start with an additional 50mg & see how I feel from there. The multi I am taking already has 25mg and I am a little weary of starting a megadose. Thanks again to the OP for informing us on this.

I have been alot hornier lately. I'm not usually this horny every single day but I am lately. It's either something I'm eating everyday now (maybe greek yogurt/bananas), or the new vitamins I'm taking (which are expensive because they are made from real raw food sources), or it's the one pill of zinc I am taking every morning (I think 30mg).

I have been taking a Zinc/copper capsule twice daily. I really can't say much for it's effects, because I started taking them the same day I started with the Garden of Life RAW Organic powdered juice mix twice daily.

I can say that these days, I am much more eager to chase pussy, I have a ton more energy throughout the day, and the morning after a night of drinking is now like the morning after nights I don't drink.
