Zinc has made me a better man.

Ever done the Zinc Taste Test to check your zinc levels anyone?

I had mine done maybe a year ago at a naturopath. It is supposed to taste nasty if you swill the liquid in your mouth. It was tasteless for me which meant my zinc levels were low.

Zinc has made me a better man.

I take lots of supplements and natural superfoods. I feel as though they are key in my daily lifestyle:

Protein Powder
Multivitamin - brand is Garden Of Life; they use real food sources for the vitamins.
Fish Oils
Flax Seed in my food
Maca - brands I use are MacaSure or Wild Peru
Cacao Nibs

and sometimes Horny Goat Weed. But that might be unnecessary with all the other stuff I'm taking. Especially because I also follow a clean diet with lots of great healthy foods.

Just bought some Zinc (brand is Trophic) so I'm gonna give it a try. Maybe it'll be added on to my list [Image: biggrin.gif]

I am not normally someone who gets into "fads" things like that. Zinc does seem to work. 100-150mg a day right now and I also have had more women paying attention to me. I have had several women say "hi" to me on the street. Usually never happens like this. I have had women at work give me that look like if we were not at work, we would be taking care of business. Only been taking zinc a couple weeks. Will have to report back if it seems to increase.

Be careful though. I think this could be what happens when your Testosterone gets really high: [Image: wink.gif]

What brand are you using, and what time of the day are you taking it?

Are you trying to say that zinc elevates your testosterone levels and this causes extra pheromones to be released from your body and women are picking up on the scent? Or is it just your attitude and personality that's changing as a result of the zinc?

Not a scientist, but I think that's the case.

There's a chapter about specifically this in the 4 Hour Body. The only chapter in the book I bothered with.

Zinc has made me a better man.

Bought some Zinc while I was out looking at colognes today. The only bottles of Zinc I could find were either a bottle of liquid, or a bottle of tablets labelled: "Zinc complex - Healthy skin. Acne" mix. The label states 25mg of elemental Zinc, 2mg Magnesium, 8.3mg Magnesium in some other compound, 25mg vitamin B6, and 375(micro)g vitamin A. Bottle recommended one tablet a day. I popped 2 as I was leaving the store, and I plan to take another couple before bed. Felt nauseous for about 20 minutes, but after eating food and having a drink I was fine.

I've been doing some research and I haven't seen any distinctions between elemental zinc and zinc gluconate, which is what I just bought and I believe is the most common compound.

I also read that the safe "upper limit" for adults for zinc is 40 mg. Extrapolating for 14% elemental zinc, this means it is safe to take up to ~286 mg of zinc gluconate a day.

http://www.rxlist.com/zinc-page3/supplements.htm

"Different salt forms provide different amounts of elemental zinc. Zinc sulfate contains 23% elemental zinc; 220 mg zinc sulfate contains 50 mg zinc. Zinc gluconate contains 14.3% elemental zinc; 10 mg zinc gluconate contains 1.43 mg zinc."

With all of this on the table, OP, are you taking 100-150mg of elemental zinc or zinc gluconate? The difference is a very significant factor of seven.

Zinc is useful for...

Relieving The Common Cold

Treating Pneumonia in Children

also www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1914655,00.html

I suspect that the same benefits in kids will be found in adults as more data is collected. It's being tested in adults with diarrhoea due to HIV with good results thus far.

I took a pure zinc supplement for several months and felt great but then started developing weird symptoms, so I stopped and I became normal again. I suspect I was developing copper deficiency. I'm restarting with a copper-zinc combination.

I took Zinc originally to treat a cold but I felt so great on it despite my cold that I realised I was on to something. Now I take it for the energy level boost, improvement of mental functions, and my sleep has become more restful and so I need a little bit less of sleep.

OP it could also be something else you're doing or taking. Are you doing NoFap? Are you taking any other supp maybe? Are you doing anything in your life that's maybe putting you in a better mind state? Etc...

Doubled up my dose of zinc this morning and puked when I got to work. I don't think it has anything to do with the doubling up of zinc, more so that I took that, along with fish oil and a multi vitamin upon waking up on an empty stomach. Always eat with meal. Which i usually do, but I was a dumb ass this morning apparently..

Taking zinc without copper will cause imbalance.

The OP bought this one, and it has copper in it.

Caps, not pills. 3 mg per kg body weight. So if you're 80 kg like me, you'll take 240 mg (8 caps since one cap is 30 mg). Please don't take all 8 at once. Spread them out throughout the day. I am not a doctor so please be careful.

Why caps instead of tablets?

This seems to be a cheaper option otherwise: http://www.iherb.com/Source-Naturals-Opt...blets/1361

Tablets we're fuking up my stomach bad. I suspect you get a finer quality Zinc in capsules also. Its worth the little extra price to get capsules. The L-Optra-Zinc recommend in here has been amazing so far, very easy to take and I can scale down my dosages since my body absorbs it much quicker then the tabs.

How many grams are you taking on a daily basis?

I have ordered the zinc taste test from Amazon to check my actual levels. It supposedly only serves as a rough guide but I went to a naturopath as well as the Robert Schad clinic and each time I took a zinc test, my levels were really low.

Currently, I am taking about 80g per day spread out. Each tab is only about 22mg (bought it from Whole Foods) so I have about four tabs a day.

Started taking zinc again last week. I take it with food, but I still get nauseous. It never really happened before. Taking 100mg of zinc and a 25mg magnesium.

I'm hoping it gets to the point where I don't get nauseous anymore.
