I went to see Shazam, too. It was also filled with checkboxed points of political correctness. Minority racial actors. Check. Female in park actually stopping her mugger and getting on Shazam for trying to save her? Check. And others, but I don't want to spoil the film. It's a shame. I can't really go through these movies anymore without noticing blatant virtue signaling. It feels like a kid art project or one of those indie films at film festivals where they try to be so obvious with their message that you're just turned off in general.
You know what's ironic? The film was being slammed for being fatphobic and not SJW enough.
Disappointing. I was thinking of going back to the cinema again to watch this one after seeing Aaron Clarey's review;
https://captaincapitalism.blogspot.com/2...hazam.html
He seems to think it's old-fashioned entertainment the way we used to see, devoid of lecturing, politics etc. I might still go as it's my son's birthday and I always take him to see a movie and there's not much else to see.

Just watched American Gangster a few days ago. I probably would’ve like this movie when it came out, but I couldn’t help but see it as more bullshit Hollywood propaganda glorifying a drug dealer and murderer while trying to make a cop look as bad as possible because...he’s a womanizer! So murderer drug dealer ok but guy who bangs chicks...
Afterwards I did a few minutes of reading on the real Frank Lucas and the cop who nailed him. The real guy was no debonair gentleman like Denzel’s character. And the cop, for whom the story makes a big deal out of his divorce and child rearing issues...the fucking guy wasn’t even married.
Also watched Polka King with Jack Black. This one didn’t take itself too seriously and was actually pretty enjoyable. Polka and ponzie scheming, decent comedic acting.

Do we need a separate thread to discuss Avengers or will this do? Didn't want to spoil.

Avengers was surprisingly good. It had too many girl power moments and obvious leftist propaganda but I tried to look past it. Much better than Infinity War.

Yeah the SJW agenda was strong in this movie. I tried to look past it but it was just too much on the nose. Especially during the final battle.

Had the NFL Draft on the last couple nights, seen a number of trailers for a movie about Brian Bates. Bates was a prominent high school football player who was falsely accused of rape prior to his senior year and took a plea deal to avoid decades in prison, costing him a shot at playing in division 1 (he had scholarship offers from some of the best programs in the country) and even the NFL. Eventually the accuser admitted a decade or so later that she had fabricated the story, but not before Banks had served something like 5-6 years in jail and had his dreams of a football career derailed (although he did later get some tryouts in the NFL, but was in his 30s at this point).
I'm legit shocked that this movie is being made, and I'm sure they'll portray it as a race thing (although I believe the false accuser is also black, but they'll blame the racist justice system). Glad to see it though.

I watched "Arctic" with mads mikkelson, I enjoyed it.
It's about a guy crashed in an arctic wasteland, I don't know where, he is surviving but has to get to civilization when he has to take care of a wounded chick later on. I'm not sure if I should ruin the plot, because there's not much, I enjoyed how simple and down to earth it was just showing a man against the elements having to do what he can to get through it.

Not necessarily a movie, but I watched a documentary about music legend Robert Johnson on Netflix called Devil at the Crossroads. Robert Johnson was a blues singer who had a story about him selling his soul to the devil to make great music at a crossroads in Mississippi. It talked about his life and how much he contributed to music without living to see it. There is another idea of how he did well in music without selling his soul and it had him practicing with a friend in a graveyard.
Quite interesting, I know there was a character based off of Robert Johnson in O'Brother Where Art Thou?

I watched the 2014 Godzilla movie just recently to start my week off. I learned it's part of the MonsterVerse that involves Godzilla, Mothra and King Kong. It seemed to be free of SJW crap.
It has a great soundtrack, action scenes and good FX. It made me wonder why I didn't see this when it came out, then I realized I was more blue pilled back then. It would've looked better in the theater than on a TV. I will watch Kong: Skull Island later to prepare for the upcoming Godzilla movie. It's a hell of a lot better than the one that came out in the 90's.

Great Italian gangster movie with with a lot of great notes and space in between.

I don't get the hype for John Wick. I watched #2 (not having seen the first one) and it was hot garbage. I respect Keanu for doing all of that arms training he did for the role but he still can't act. Same expression on his face and a weird, slow delivery of his lines. I think he's a good guy in real life and I hate to "hate" on him but there is just no talent there. He's one lucky fucker that somebody found hiim and decided to cast him for the Matrix films.

I know what you mean. The first one was a one-off and much, much better than the second. It was also very tongue-in-cheek and one-joke (thieves kill dog of man who turns out to be elite assassin). It worked perfectly as a throwaway movie classic. But they shouldn't have done any more (same as the 'Taken' series). Greedy bastards.
There shouldn't have been any hype for #2, the fact that there was is a big red flag straightaway. Good films don't need hype, the first one took everyone by surprise at how good it was. The fighting was all Judo and having done some, I can attest that KR did a great job with the choreography.

Watched Platoon over the weekend. Lots of red pill going on. Also The Ruthless on Netflix was good
