FCC Chief Plans to repeal Net Neutrality

"Future left wing presidents might..." [Image: lol.gif]

Trump scraped through despite the fact that we were staring down the barrel of World War 3 with Russia under The Hag. Guys were legitimately and wisely making escape plans if Hillary won because the war on masculinity would have intensified and the street-goons like antifa would have been given a total pass on violently destroying the lives of right wing dissidents.

But Trump won, and now he's taking the fight to the omnicorps that make up the bedrock of left wing power. So what do we hear from the amnesia crowd?

"Oh, don't give the federal government power that they might abuse under a future administration."

This is why republicucks have been losing for the last 50 years. Because they spend their turn in power masturbating to some boy-scout ideal of good governance while the Left uses their turn in power to nakedly consolidate their gains and set the place on fire when it looks like they're going to lose an election.

Pro-tip. The next time a left wing administration gains power they are not going to be constrained by anything at all. They were already operating completely outside the law under Obama. Sheer, naked corruption plain for all to see. The FBI. The IRS. The ATF. Graft and corruption that was so broad and deep that it was becoming impossible to keep a track of from day to day. And they didn't give a single fuck who found out. No fucks given whatsoever.

Trump has 3 to 7 years to smash the power base of the Left. If another progressive administration wins office then the borders will open by plane, train and automobile. At that point democracy will become a farce and all limits on federal power will be rendered irrelevant anyway.

Trump is the man. He's smarter than anyone on this forum, I guarantee that. We can only guess at what his overall plan is, but I'm sure as hell not going to second guess him on this over some lame complaints that the Left will abuse such powers when we all know the Left ignores any and all laws it wants to regardless.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

Well they voted, Net Neutrality is dead.

I still don't know if it's a good or a bad thing.

When in the USA, I have to use a VPN just to watch Youtube videos at 720 or 1080p. Sometimes the bandwith is so throttled, I am forced to use my VPN for 360.

These ISPs were never being neutral to begin with nor was the Net Neutrality rules being enforced, even when Obama was in office.

Nothing is going to stop these greedy people. Regulations or not, it's more of an indictment of our country and our culture.

If they push most of us into the deepweb or alternative networks, I won't lie, it will suck, but in the end we will be better off. Some country will always harbor a pirate or freedom fighter of sorts. That history has never been beaten. If we prop up networks in Africa, Asia, or parts of Europe, they won't be able to stop free speech or sites. That's not counting the business angle.

The only thing that would stop any underground network would be a single world government. That would be the end of anything and everything.

Net Neutrality hasn't done shit to stop Comcast from steadily increasing my bill and putting a data cap on my "fast" internet. Fuck silicon valley, they can pay their fair share.

At the very least the hysterical leftists will have their meltdown over the looming apocalypse they've made this out to be. As if it has existed since the beginning of the internet and not for two fucking years. I heard there was a bomb threat at the meeting or something and they had to evacuate. No doubt phoned in by violent revolutionaries with an affinity for the hammer and sickle.

I want alternatives, I want viable alternatives, not at&t's pathetically slow and expensive internet. I don't want to be stuck with comcast for the rest of my life as my hated "utility".

What you claim you want and your actual position are in direct conflict with each other. The ISPs are a cartel that now have a puppet in the FCC.

But please, continue to put your trust in this guy:

Horrible day for Netflix and Amazon(their streaming service), they took it from both sides.

One, their free ride of no added costs for streaming is over, and 2 not only will all of the previous disney content not be available for licensing but also now Fox content.

Come 2019 netflix and Amazon will have a pathetic library and competing with disney's streaming service that likely includes Disney+Fox films, Hulu TV & entertainment + espn. The deal will not include Fox News, Trump called murdoch to make sure.

If trump can work out a deal between AT&T and Time Warner(somehow transforming CNN) you will be seeing some major changes.

At least Amazon video comes with Amazon prime, which at the moment is still worth the money. Netflix is relying more and more on their original content, they are in trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if someone buys them in the near future. Media consolidation continues.

The whole net neutrality thing was entirely aimed at choking the tech companies who have traditionally been horribly leftist.

Bezos is stemming mad and so are the rest of the tards that run Alphabet. Personally, I want to see Amazon be stuck with an antitrust suit.

Unfortunately, there will be others out there who sadly were harmed by this. Netflix being one of them.
Not to mention, you have a lot of corporations who have drunk the "put it all on the cloud" BS and now will have to pay the troll toll if they want to access it at speed.

Hate to be that guy: but I stand to make a lot of money from net neutrality's demise.

Anyone who says they know what's going to happen is lying.

I hate to be that 'free-market' guy, but we need to wait and see how things play in the long-term, as the free-market does have a tendency to sort things out - whether companies have an advantageous position or not.

The main point of contention for myself, is in regards to Conservative news outlets - which will no doubt be targeted.

At the end of the day though, despite the initial reaction (which happens every time there is less regulation in some field), less regulation is best. Whether it's in the Financial industry, or the Internet.

The Government should act as an Umpire - not a player. I'm pro deregulation of the Financial industry, and in this industry - but will actively explore in more depth what this means for the long-term.

My point - don't do what Leftists do. Don't overreact. Research, plan, and make a logical conclusion based in reason.

Hollywood and America was better off when the suits that controlled the studios had the power. The current content bubble created by netflix and co. will probably last for another 2-3 years but ultimately it will burst.

This is extremely good news. First and foremost, people shouldn't spend all day browsing for new content from 10 different streamers, they should be outside actually doing shit.
2nd this will take away the power from the TALENT, the talent(actors-directors etc) though good at what they do, are completely uncontrollable and extremely narcissistic, they cannot and must not have any influence. Right now they have never had it so good. The content bubble has given them almost equal power to the distributors. Netflix will finance 80 films next year and most likely they year after that, the content bubble has never been bigger. This gives the talent too much options, the roles are now reversed, if they are not catered to 100% they will leave nbc/abc or fox/disney for a crazy netflix deal that was considered unheardoff 10 years ago. If an actor is unhappy about the political views of another, refuses to work with that individual and the content provider will now submit to their will. Meanwhile the royalty payoff deals have never been higher. Its never been this bad.

Netflix or amazon don't release viewership stats, but believe me most of their shows dont' get alot of viewership, their films even less and they know this. Their service is the middle man, nothing more. The entertainment industry will be in for a major correction in the coming years. To add salt to the wounds, many states have figured out that the film tax incetive scam doesn't pay off. At first it seems great, studios move in and invest 35$ mil on a film and all you have to do is give them a 30% tax refund. Sounds great right? you are helping the local film industry, creating jobs along the way. But after a while, you find that its not sustainable, if you even adjust those incentives a little, production moves elsewhere immediately.

I'm sorry but that video is fucking hilarious. He is literally mocking all these millennial snowflakes who really think that the internet is going to get shut down by Trump. Even my 15 yr old kid who is usually pretty calm was worried about this. I laughed and asked him if he's really that worried about not being able to play Grand Theft Auto with his buddies anymore [Image: tard.gif].

The only ones who stand to lose from this are Google, Facebook, Amazon etc who's free ride is coming to an end and will now have to spend billions of dollars to support their bandwidth requirements which is why they've been the loudest voices against this. Now I don't know all of the ramifications of this but this law is only 2 years old and lord knows the internet was there for 20 years before net neutrality without any issue. None of these complaining dbags ever complained about not being able to wack off to their favorite streaming porn before net neutrality. Typical Obama, creating a solution to a problem which never existed except in his 8D mind only. All I know is that if it's bad for Mark Zuckerberg, then it's probably good for us. Or at least not bad.

It's funny how liberals are all about the rich paying their "Fair Share" of taxes, but say nothing about the massive tech companies paying their fair share for bandwidth. The reason why is because they're being manipulated by companies like Twitter and Reddit who push their agenda on their users, and foment the panic circle-jerk of thinking an end to net neutrality is the end of the internet.

This is also about transparency.

ISPs can throttle - but they need to inform their user base, something that would likely lead to an exodus from whichever company.

When Facebook and Twitter censored right wingers, there was no exodus. Thinking there will be one when ISPs do it has no basis.

The ISPs are mostly concerned about high bandwidth activity (Facebook, netflix, google, twitter etc).

They will likely offer fast lane premium internet for those who can afford it. There will also be cheaper internet for those that can't that will probably not include things like facebook-live twitter video netflix etc. It will create a market segmentation based on how much you pay rather than what side of the political spectrum you fall on. Its a far better option than what facebook wants.

Ending Net Neutrality means Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, etc, will be much slower websites or they will have to pay out of their nose to keep high speeds.

It means smaller sites like ours will be much faster in comparison and more appealing for users to leave the corporate ghetto websites. Why anyone would support big corporations is beyond me.

@8ball

If you have read the rest of the thread, they want more control over everything that consumers use. With net neutrality they had no real liability and essentially just delivered the internet as a utility. Now they will be able to start blocking or throttling things they don't like. This will probably happen gradually and not start for a while, since this is still a hot topic.

@Samseau

Last I checked Comcast and Verizon where big corporations.

So what makes Facebook and Twitter any more special? Why should one set of big corporations get preference over another?

If anything Facebook and other social media sites have shown they are totally willing to censor speech, whereas ISP's before 2015 never did such a thing.

The burden of proof is on social media websites to explain why they deserve preferential treatment in light of their continued abuse.
