I don't want to get caught up in the flamewar here, but the underlying issue of this thread isn't whether we should mourn pornstars or not...it's about the power of shame to destroy lives to the point of suicide.
What's broken in our modern culture is the "balance of the force" of shame.
All of the leverage of shame at present is being exerted towards SJW causes (racism, sexism, homophobia, etc...) and NONE of it directed at criticizing personal vice. In fact, the complete opposite is true.
Vice has been embraced as a facet of social justice, of freedom, namely women on the cock and substance abuse carousel.
That's how Miley Cyrus posting pictures of her tat-riddled self swigging a beer and pissing next to her car is held up as a form of female empowerment. Thou shalt not judge is the mantra of the day. If shame were in balance than Miley Cyrus would not have a recording contract and would not be a judge on The Voice and Chris Hemsworth would not reward her behavior with his alpha-male cock.
There are NO ramifications for women behaving badly. NONE. Their behavior is seen as victimless, although it probably expresses itself in how it messes with the minds of the next generation, whereas the impact of your Harvey Weinsteins and such impacted women right there and then.
I'm not saying we should bring back prohibition or live like victorians again, but the decadence and hedonism train is what leads us to societal collapse.
August Ames was created by the same social climate that destroyed her.
