In the central malls, and mostly Grand Indonesia.

That is crazy. I live in Jakarta on and off and have never seen anyone hitting on a girl here outside of a club. I even barely see foreigners, even in Pusat where Grand Indonesia is located.

I've been here a few days and spent quite a bit of time at Grand Indo. If there was any people running day game there I surely didn't see them.

I know it's been said already and even thought I read it on here I was blown away by the nightlife. The girls are much hotter than they are on tinder or at the mall and probably the easiest place in the world for an average white guy to have success. I was meeting a girl out and didn't even make one lap around the bar and had a girl open me. The drinks here are crazy expensive but small price to pay for not getting blown out constantly or having it be a huge sausage party.

I did the same thing last time I was in Jakarta. Didn't hinder me at all. In fact, I think it actually made things easier. Sometimes my dates met my friend's dates in the living room and they instantly exchanged Facebook and were chatting in Bahasa for half an hour. It is astounding how easy they can connect with people they have never seen before. Give them 10 minutes with each other and they are new best friends.

For those who keep asking about what clubs are open over Ramadan - everything generally shuts the first and the last week of Ramadan. But some reopen in the middle two weeks, tho tend to be quiet and shut early.

immigrant and colloseum are open 'as normal' apparently. However whether they're going to be busy or any good is another matter and I suspect they shut early. DF is closed. Basque are open but closing 1am. Still might be a good shout if you happen to be there.

Also look out for bars craftily conceal their booze by serving it in little teapots as well

Apparently 1 am is closing time everywhere which is lame as hell. Pipelined a list targets are off to Bali. But the 6.5 range girls are left behind. Online is where it's at. All these tinder girls go to the clubs , exact same pie.

So I've been to Jakarta recently for a quick bang trip let me share my thoughts:

The City:

As experienced before, the city itself is a dump, and the traffic situation only getting worse. Use Uber to get around, but make sure you call the Uber 10 minutes before your ready as they take a while to get there. The rides are usually around $2-5, which is dirt cheap.

Speaking of expenses, the five star luxury hotel accommodation is among the cheapest in the world. If you have hotel elite status, this is the place to be, as your lounge access will give you free access to the booze (no small luxury in this Muslim country).

Nightlife:

The only place I went to was Basque. It is open until 2 AM at the minimum during Ramadan. However, talent levels were extremely weak, with almost 0 local guys and filled with mostly bule and bule loving girls. I would say I saw at max 1 or 2 7's in the entire club, mostly 4/5, with surprisingly quite a few overweight girls (3-). If this is the best that nightlife has to offer, count me out. Not to mention the brutal US pricing on drinks.

On previous trips have been to Dragonfly and X2, also similar quality so this isn't some sort of Ramadan issue.

Online:

The bad news is there's around 80-90% of the girls on Tinder are plain fugly, with around half having some sort of Hijab (has anyone here actually tried pulling one of these). These girls use a TON of filters as every single girl I met was significantly darker then their photos. Even the lightest girl I met was perhaps my shade, which is not the "whitest" to begin with (call it a very slight tan). If you like pale chicks, avoid this place. The only exception is the indo-chinese community, and I found them to be the hardest / flakiest, even if I was of Chinese decent (definitely need more then a weekend trip to close the deal).

Now the good news, even if you only swipe yes to 10%, the match rate is HUGE. I'd consistently match with 6/6.5 , half of the 7s, and even the occasional 8 (an almost impossible feat online). I must have matched with at least 500+ girls by pipe lining the week before, use the excel spreadsheet system to keep track of them all, as I left some plates hanging on accident.

Weekend Bang Trip Results:

I got the golden touchdown immediately upon landing, with a girl coming over and having drinks before getting the business done. While her body was a 8+, her tan skin and braces made this girl a 6. Her picture filter game was on point to make her skin white, and show off her body, not her braces. I agree with you man, i went to see the quality of girls in indoclubbing.com, it was pretty bad at most popular clubs, and that was even before ramadan. I can safely say that it's the worst quality out of SEA nightclubs. Good thing that these girls are easy as fuck , otherwise i dont see the point.

Bkk seems better than Jakarta these days. That and you could actually go out and chill riding the BTS.

Quick update on the scene in Jakarta. Things are in a bit of transition at the moment, nightlife is somewhat unpredictable. All the previously mentioned best venues are still going but you sense they're coming to the end of their run with crowds dropping and door policy loosening.

The best venue which I kept quiet up until it started getting mentioned recently - Basque - as long since been well discovered and now at the weekend attracts hoards of thirsty white dudes who are getting more and more aggressive in approaching/harassing the chicks. Which in turn has scared off all the top end talent, so we're left with (mostly) the B-level bottlerats and tinderellas getting their attention-fix.

That said it still is a decent shout for midweek. And there still isn't really an adequate substitute to replace it thus far as the go to pre-club bar at weekends for picking up talent. So still worth trying out at the weekend, it just ain't anything like what it was.

I've since experimented and checked out some bars along the Senopati area. There are decent venues but the vibe of the area in general is very much the party area for the local rich folk who all know eachother. I was with my gf at the time so couldn't really get my hands too dirty but my impression is that given the insular vibe it's not great for chasing skirt if you're bule and particularly if you're new in town.

Immigrant has gone to shit of late. Friday's are dead and Saturday's, which used to be a bit of a gold mine, now are pretty shit with quite frankly an odd crowd showing up now. There still can be decent quality girls that show up but they're few and far between now. Place had a good innings, but now desperately needs to do something to reinvent itself.

Dragonfly, which went from awesome to dreadful when they refurbished nearly 2 years ago has gradually been improving ever since. Now the Chinese have almost totally moved out and brought their bottle service pissing contest with them back to the likes of Empirica and Blowfish. It's still nothing like the old glory days of the previous DF, but still maybe worth checking out particularly on their big night on a Friday when Immigrant is empty and Jenja is potentially a ball ache to get to due to traffic. That said, the club is still fairly poorly laid out for cold approaching and most quality looking birds will be on someone's table. But results can be had there still if your club game is on point.

Jenja - a bit of a drive south to Kemang but a decent alternative to Immi and DF. Can be hit or miss on the chicks stakes and somewhat unpredictable. It's one for the more hardcore underground DJ club scene and is fairly local so you don't get so much the bule hunting girls, rather the ones more into their music without necessarily being the druggy types who frequent Kota. A decent club itself but wouldn't be my first port of call if I'm looking to get some actions. But worth sticking your head in for a change of scenery

X2 I've not been to in years now. But I still hear it's much the same: ie younger, piss easy chicks but the quality ain't great. Has the reputation of being a bit pikey (rightly so) so most of the top grade birds won't be seen dead in there. But ideal hail mary option.

I'll continue to keep my ear close to the ground on developments and perhaps try a few more new venues while the scene is in a bit of a lull.

Yes the girls are easy but they are too everywhere else in Asia. Also, girls in Jakarta are generally very ugly and just going about your day to day life, you won't bump into many attractive girls. Your only options are to hit the specific clubs and go on Tinder.

I stayed in the Thamrin area as that seemed to be the general consensus on this thread but I wouldn't recommend it at all. I didn't get a chance to do that much exploring and would certainly go back and try staying in some different places.

To someone who has been to some different cities in Asia, certainly check it out and hopefully you'll find some better places than me. However to someone who hasn't been to Asia before and reads this thread and thinks that Jakarta is the place to be, go to another city like Bangkok or Manila instead and you'll experience all of the positives of going to Jakarta plus a whole lot more.

Has anyone been to both Manila and Jakarta recently? Which place is easier to make new friends? The only friend I have in Manila won't be there around the time I can travel. The friends I have in Jakarta won't go out partying (but are great for social proof if I get into sort of a mini relationship).

I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but skin tone is a major factor in which country/city you prefer in Southeast Asia.

I think if you like Chinese Indo girls I assume you prefer them a bit lighter, correct?

Chinese indo are prob the least attractive.

You can't walk to place staying in thamrin. Even the road to grand indo from there has no pavements, and it's a hot walk. Girls just taxis for a 5 minute walk. So in that sense it's not like bkk where the city is very "exploráble" for a tourist, or even the Geenbelt area.

I went to Manila last nov. Manila is better for daygame as there are a lot of malls to game in. Filipinos are also abit more friendly and happy if you like, so it definilty makes it easier for tourists in town to enjoy themselves. English is spoken everywhere. However there are less clubs in Manila number wise, main one being Valkyrie. There are more bar type of environments in green belt and ortigas.
