Assange on the US election: "Clinton tried to destroy us and was herself destroyed."

http://www.repubblica.it/esteri/2016/12/...f=HREC1-12

Is the internet still cut off?
"The internet has been returned".

One of the first times we met I noticed a book on your table: "The Prince" by Machiavelli. What have you learned about power in 10 years of WikiLeaks?

"My conclusion is that most power structures are deeply incompetent, staffed by people who don't really believe in their institutions and that most power is the projection of the perception of power. And the more secretively it works, the more incompetent it is, because secrecy breeds incompetence, while openness breeds competence, because one can see and can compare actions and see which one is more competent. To keep up these appearances, institutional heads or political heads such as presidents spend most of the time trying to walk in front of the train and pretending that it is following them, but the direction is set by the tracks and by the engine of the train. Understanding that means that small and committed organisations can outmanoeuvre these institutional dinosaurs, like the State Department, the NSA or the CIA".

This section here was a very interesting take.

Quote:Quote:

What about Donald Trump? What is going to happen?
"If the question is how I personally feel about the situation, I am mixed: Hillary Clinton and the network around her imprisoned one of our alleged sources for 35 years, Chelsea Manning, tortured her according to the United Nations, in order to implicate me personally. According to our publications Hillary Clinton was the chief proponent and the architect of the war against Libya. It is clear that she pursued this war as a staging effort for her Presidential bid. It wasn't even a war for an ideological purpose. This war ended up producing the refugee crisis in Europe, changing the political colour of Europe, killing more than 40,000 people within a year in Libya, while the arms from Libya went to Mali and other places, boosting or causing civil wars, including the Syrian catastrophe. If someone and their network behave like that, then there are consequences. Internal and external opponents are generated. Now there is a separate question on what Donald Trump means".

What do you think he means?
"Hillary Clinton's election would have been a consolidation of power in the existing ruling class of the United States. Donald Trump is not a DC insider, he is part of the wealthy ruling elite of the United States, and he is gathering around him a spectrum of other rich people and several idiosyncratic personalities. They do not by themselves form an existing structure, so it is a weak structure which is displacing and destabilising the pre-existing central power network within DC. It is a new patronage structure which will evolve rapidly, but at the moment its looseness means there are opportunities for change in the United States: change for the worse and change for the better"

This isn't the first time I have seen this same opinion presented. Obama and Hillary I suspect in the next 10-20 years, may end up with one of the worst legacies we have seen from a President/SOS combo in maybe the last 100-150 years. From a historical standpoint you cannot honestly assess a foreign policy within 5 years or so, it takes more like 10-20, but you can always see hints and clues on how bad it could be based upon recent events.

What he said about the refugee crisis was interesting as well because I was not expecting that from him. In a sense, he is 100% right, even if you hold a liberal viewpoint about immigration. Had they not started that conflict, Europe would not have had to take in people to begin with.

In 10 more years, will the European immigration effect be so bad, that Obama/Clinton can be blamed for turning several European countries into a dump? No not entirely, but they may deserve the bulk of the blame, regardless of Germany's stupidity, etc..

I cannot think of another American president, that caused so much havoc in Europe over a series of decisions. While mainstream media and books will focus on his domestic agendas (Obamacare, The Bailouts, etc.), internationally he and Clinton may end up demonized by European historians!

I was more worried about George W. Bush's legacy many years ago, even when I was still a big Democrat. I think Obama's has alot more potential for damage than his did.

Very interesting stuff!!

I knew Assange was smart but it's amazing how perceptive he is. Also seems like a truly decent guy trying to make our world a better place. Dude has that worn out look on his face and you can tell he's been through a lot.

He's been trapped in an apartment for 4 1/2 years. He's missing out on life experiences and opportunities he knows he'll never get back. I don't know if he's gotten laid or not during this time, but even if he has it probably hasn't been very often. That's got to weigh on his mind.

I hope for his and his family's sake that this is the kind of honest reporting that could create some positive movement on his case.

I find it shocking that so many people care more about their government's ability to have secrecy versus their government going against the people's interests.

The countries that are holding him are fucked. The women who alleged he violated them aren't even pressing charges!

Assange's conclusion reminder me of the great essay "Discourse On Voluntary Servitude" by Etienne de La Boetie. The author remarks that obedience is really the only thing providing rulers with real power.

"Resolve to serve no more, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands upon the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break in pieces."

He is supposed to do a reddit open question hour next Friday (tomorrow), one of the hashtags is "I'm alive"..

P. S.: I was about to suggest changing the thread name as this has become the de facto discussion on Assange but I see it's already been taken care of, kudos!

Even if he got out, every time he got laid, he would have to be suspicious about not waking up kidnapped from some honeypot operation, would suck to be honest, but he is definitely a real hero.

What is up with Assange and his past history though? Seems like he appeared from nowhere, what was he doing prior to Wikileaks?

Julian Assange is doing an AMA on reddit/twitch right now. The questions are being asked on reddit, and he's answering on screen

https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/5...ks_ask_me/

https://www.twitch.tv/reddit

someone made the following post on reddit:

Quote:Quote:

Hello Julian Assange,

In recent months, there has been some concern to your well-being following the events of the October 17th blackout. Would you please reply with a signed message that includes the contents below?

1) State that you are alive and well, and in no serious harm.

2) The current date and time.

3) Something unique that happened in the news yesterday, January 9th, 2017.

4) This nonce value: 8059e91804efbe266c8e324b52de605f829eca993d4c7020bc8a34db337fabd5

I ask that all Redditors take screenshots and SHA256 sums of this post and Julian's reply, in the perhaps likely event that either of these posts are modified by Reddit admins.

SHA256: 336bc0cd7e841bc87248bda86276ca41e75399cfc63a5d5eed7c3e4f8dce4f03

& the same message is being spammed in the twitch chat. As of yet he hasnt responded to it.

Since his internet was briefly cut a while back, there hasnt been any concrete evidence that proves he's alive/in the embassy.

edit: he just mentioned that CNN called him a paedophile in the last week, which can be seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcE7BqjqBN4

Not sure how conclusive this is wrt assange being alive, as he may have been called a paedophile by cnn before

Assange is staying in the Ecuadorian embassy:

Julian Assange breaks pledge to leave Ecuadorean embassy if Chelsea Manning was pardoned

I don't know how recent the pictures in the article are.

I am afraid that women appreciate cruelty, downright cruelty, more than anything else. They have wonderfully primitive instincts. We have emancipated them, but they remain slaves looking for their masters all the same. They love being dominated.

Chelsea Manning wasn't pardoned. She just had her sentence reduced.

Assange used this distinction as the reason for not turning himself in.

I thought everyone on the forum now supported these? Since everyone is touting Swedish rape statistics (with the wide definition of rape in Sweden) as an indication of Muslim rampage or whatever.

I mean you can't have it both ways, accepting the stats on Swedish rape would mean you consider Assange guilty of it under the current definition.

I'm not being facetious here, I think the definition is bullshit, but people seem to change footing on it just whenever it fits their narrative.

It's both. The rape stats in Sweden are so high they completely dwarf their neighbors like Finland and Norway, which have similar attitudes towards rape and rape laws. Norway and Finland have astronomical rape rates compared to their population size, without the insane levels of immigration, so we know that most of the "rapes" are bullshit there. But Sweden still has 3x as many rapes as these countries, which lets us know there is still a very real rape epidemic perpetrated by the Muzzies.
