Well, I'm an obvious gringo. Good Spanish, but blue eyes and very whitey. So, I don't know that I can answer your question the way you want it answered. But I'll offer you my take, which is exactly the same opinion everyone else here says.

The Bogota girls are more educated, they have nice jobs, they're fun, and are less money grubbing than the shallow Medellin trash with fake everything. Fake tits, asses, fake attitudes, scammers, want want want free shit from you.

I like the city of Medellin. It's a really fun place and I recommend it to anyone wanting to spend a vacation partying and meeting people and hanging out. As a city, Medellin kicks nasty Bogota's ass any day. Bogota is a piece of complete shit. Medellin is modern and mostly safe, clean - just a nice, cool city. But, if my unwiped asshole were a city, it would be a better city than Bogota.

But if we're talking of girls... then Bogota girls smoke Medellin Paisa moneygrubbers any day. The Medellin golddiggers play so many fucking headgames, they need their own section of this forum to teach game. So many fucking mindtricks and horseshit from those girls. They can be relentless in their bullshit. Bogota girls are just regular girls. They have better attitudes and they will actually take you to do things and will pay for shit. A Medellin Paisa will always order the most expensive plate on the menu, just because. A Bogota girl will just pick what she wants, which may be an appetizer salad. A Medellin girl will order a Stella Artois while a Bogotena will just order a Poker. (Those are beers, you noob.)

The Bogota and Medellin girls are night and day. It's not to say that there aren't some Bogota girls that won't play you, but at least they have the intelligence and education to not be so obvious about it. The Medellin girls are so fucking airheaded that on the first date, they're complaining about their momma's electric bill or their sister's surgery. The Medellin girls will try to milk you on the first goddamn date.

I read some of the threads about Medellin in here and I scratch my head. Gringos laying two and three girls a day in Medellin? There's one of four things going on here... 1) They're paying for ass. 2) The guy is very handsome and would draw girls at any bar anywhere in the world. 3) He's lying. 4) He was sleeping with pigs. I've seen some photos of Medellin chicks that people brag about, and they're nothing to brag about. Some cow that I wouldn't sleep with if I were coked up and drunk out of my mind.

But hell, go have fun. Medellin is a fucking blast any way around it.

I mean, I continue reading the the biggest problem you guys face is girls think by default you are low status whoremongers.

It's just that? or is one of those cities where picking up without a social circle is an uphill walk?

Speaking with my local friends of Bogota I realized medellin girls have fame of gold diggers if that is the case it might be logical that they don't want to be with a passing by gringo instead of old guys with money or young thugs, which are the groups who seem doing best for the little time I was there.

I'm curious about if a light latin looking guy with great spanish can do well without social circle, for me that kind of game is a pain in the ass. If some mone and merging with the culture long term is all you need I don't see that as a big problem.

Medellin as a city is superior to the other cities in Colombia. The girls are also the most beautiful. The downside is the gold-digger culture and old whoremongers. You need to do some weeding out of the true gold-diggers, but I don't think it is hard to separate yourself from the pay for play type guys. My last trip to Medellin, I made some local male friends, which opened up the doors to girls I ordinarily would not have contact with.

For the Medellin crowd. Anywhere you go in Colombia, people are usually proud of where they come from. The same is true for bogotaños vs paisas. Each will say how the other is bad and how they are much better. So be weary of that.

the more well to do Colombians send their kids overseas for university. as for meeting educated girls with decent jobs in local standards you can find them. However, going out on a Thursday night to Babylon by lleras you're not gonna meet a girl with a decent job or is in school most likely. They have classes starting at 6 am even on Saturdays.

Agreed, nightlife is usually a bust in Medellin and not the best way to go about meeting girls. The best way is usually in this order:

Social Circle
Daygame
Online
Nightlife

Some advice, folks if you are thinking about going to Medellin for the feria or Colombia moda don't bother, it's much better to go afterwards because Airbnb places for example will be cheaper. Same goes for any other feria.
The feria is good if you like Colombian music, Latin groups/singers and concerts. If you don't go to those concerts then better wait for the low season. (Save some cash)

Getting my rocks off in Manaus, Brazil currently. It is not as great as before, but it is still the Philippines of South America.
Probably heading to Medellin in 2 weeks to give it one last shot. It is down to Pereira or Barranquilla, as to where I buy a house and start a construction project this year.
I'm pretty much done traveling in Colombia and Brazil,as I have been to most of the major cities or possible pussy paradises.
Now there will be a primary city and a secondary city. Primary to live 3 to 5 months and secondary 1 to 2 months.
In Brazil,..... Primary-Manaus. Secondary- Goiania
In Colombia...Primary - Pereira. Secondary - Barranquilla.
Though, I am still not 100 percent sure about Colombia, until my next trip.

I still get unsolicited messages from hot 18 to 20 yr olds from Medellin on the cupid sites. But we all know that means nothing with young paisas. I would still pick Medellin over Bogota, specially if you are over 35....as paisa/Medellin culture still looks positively to young girls dating older men. Not so in Bogota, which is more westernized.
Yes those 18 to 21 medellin chicks still have a hold on me though I know how much of a pain in the ass they can be.

I see alot of concerns regarding safety for gringos in colombia. But how would safety effect a brown guy. Im east indian (punjabi) and ive easily been mistaken for a spanish guy enough times. I do plan on learning spanish to tue best of my ability as well.

I can see white guys with blonde hair standing out like black sheeps. I also realize anybody in Colombis csj be effected by crime. If i take the necessary precautions can I still be somewhat safe?

I have never had an issue with safety.

If you are concerned, stick to the nice areas.

You will probably be assumed for a local until you speak, then they won't know what you are.

Be sensible and you will be fine.

Good luck

Yes of course you can be safe just like everyone else, even white guys with blond hair. I've ran into a couple of Indo dudes in Colombia, as long as you don't speak, most people will probably think you're a costeno unless you plan on rocking the Turban down there.

Also, and this is completely anecdotal, I think there may be a niche market for Indians down there. A Spanish teacher I had spent six months traveling in India and loved it, I saw a few Indian stores selling Indian things (imported clothes, incense, etc) and there's quite a few yoga studios there with Indian signs and themes. Its a bit of a long shot because your average Colombia knows dick all about the world and couldn't find India on a map but I think that there may be some chicks into Indian culture. Wearing a turban would be a novelty and would certainly attract attention down there, having a kirpan on you at all times there wouldn't hurt either, just in case. Colombians don't seem to be into beards though, they're not common down there, even among the hipster crowd so if you have a big ZZ Top beard, you may want to consider shaving it unless you take the Indian yoga guru route.

Do you think a white guy with a neatly kept, but slightly long (3 inches or so) beard would have better luck trimming it down in Colombia?

Also is there truth about Colombian women expecting guys to shave their pits? Will I gross out a girl if I don't?

Anyone that takes necessary precautions should be "somewhat" safe. Even then someone will still try and rip you off or rob you but that's what happens in Latin America regardless of whether you're a local or not.

Simple things like not leaving your drink unattended and staying out of problem areas goes a long way.

Don't use you're phone on the streets, a newer smartphone is a big score for thieves since there is a huge market for used phones and they sell for more than they would in North America.

Keep your bank card/credit card at wherever you are staying. Everything in Colombia is relatively cheap so you shouldn't have to carry too much cash on you anyway, For example if you're going to a half decent club a bottle (750ml) should cost you probably $50-70 CAD. So really only about double the retail cost of what the same bottle would go for in Canada compared to $300+ at any club in Vancouver.

One more tip, IF ANYONE approaches you on the street in English they either want to sell you drugs, beg for money or some other BS like selling you some knock off watches. There are a ton of Colombian guys that spent significant time in the states so there English is pretty good, they have some long ass sob story that goes on and on but it always finishes with them asking for money. You can avoid this by not standing around bus stations or plazas.

Anyway, it's good to see more Sikhs traveling.

Walk around Colombia without regard at your own peril. Take it with a grain of salt. I don't give a damn. Perhaps I'm completely full of shit. You never know since we're on the internets.

Or you could read this thread.

Well, I live a pretty straight edge life. I don't drink alcohol or do any drugs. I would definitely take all the necessary precautions, and I would never take any street taxi's only Uber. Since I'm not heading to Colombia anytime soon. I'm definitely looking to make some preparations by learning Spanish, learning the culture, and dating more Latinas over here. Colombia really is the best bet for me out of all the places in South America. Just was figuring it if it was worth it or not. Look's like it's definitely worth it for me.

Usually Colombian women don't expect that, but the majority of them expect that you shave your crotch hair [Image: lol.gif]

You can automatically stay for 90 days. If you want to stay longer there's a fee to stay 90 more. I understand that staying the 90 more is no big deal.

For real? The whole kit and caboodle? I'll just have to trim. I tried shaving it all off for the first girl I hooked up with back in high school... Never in my life have I been so itchy. Won't be doing that again.

Yes, it's the norm, but if I were you, I'd prefer to trim my crotch to avoid itchiness. Also some Colombian girls don't mind if you have your crotch trimmed.

I never understood this. what is so different between both cities, aside transport system and weather? I see both cities as more or less equal, both having upscale areas, liveable middle class residential areas, favelas, run down areas at the centre, etc.

Bogota is dirty and looks a shit hole in 90% of the places. Walking down the street in Candelaria or Centro you will be harassed by countless amounts of homeless people, choking on smog and stepping over garbage. That being said, it didn't bother me that much.

Now some people have said that since they have been working on cleaning up Centro that it has pushed a lot of the undesirables into nicer areas that they used to keep them out of.
