Talking with your porteria (security guard) at the entrance one can find out all the gossip he wants. That is a big IF they know and trust you.
Whatever floats your boat....
Now, more importantly is how to possibly meet more friends and ladies. How many of you actually rode on the small buses? Those with all the writing of barrios on the front. I've seen my fair share of hotties boarding them. Unfortunately, of the times I took a bus, nothing worthwhile was on.

I was in Medellin now after 2 years (first time as in 2014), city is not same as all. Too many tourist and prostitutes. I believe the gold days are over long time ago. Many will say even in 2014 it was a lot of that, but now it is at another level. Very sad.

Since I'm drunk and I love Colombia, let me chime in here.
Yes, Medellin is fucking done. Don't fucking bother. It's super goddamn fun for the parties, don't get me wrong. Go and have a blast. But don't expect to get laid unless you put in time or wanna buy whores. Go for the blow and the bars. But don't expect to get laid casually. If you're a gringo in Medellin, then you're assumed to be a monger. And the girls don't want to be seen with you because their friends will think she's a prepaga. I got laid in Medellin, and by good quality, but it was not easy. I had to put work into that shit.
Go to the little towns. Get the fuck out of Medellin. The girls in the small towns will fuck your socks off and quickly. And in the meantime, you'll experience the REAL Colombia. The real people. Not some shallow assholes in Medellin. Stop wasting your goddamn time in Medellin.

Visiting the smaller places aside from the big ones ala Cali, Bog, Med, is gonna be a challenge for many as Spanish is a must. In some places, the tap water isn't drinkable, toilets get flooded if you throw toilet paper in it, air conditioning isn't available etc. Now this is in ibague, a 2nd or 3rd tier city.
Some cannot do without certain luxuries, others
thrive anywhere. Having local friends goes a long way in getting you access to areas other "gringos" don't.

BrewDog said everything I had on my mind.
Parque Lleras, I fell in LOVE when I was there 2 year ago, but now? Full of prostitutes!
2014: 8 days, 5 bangs, 0 spanish
2016: 10 days, 1 gang, basic level spanish
(I have been with around 50-60 girls, that one girl this time, was maybe the best most beautiful I have ever been with, if not then top 3 for sure, but I worked VERY VERY hard to get her)
It is fun to party there, if you 5 minutes away from Parque Lleras still there are clubs without prostitutes. You can get some good numbers closes, bang the girls on second or third meet.
I have not been to other small towns outside Medellin, but I was also thinking that is the best option. Anyone know about any good once? (of course safe, and practical to get there)
Now I am in Cali for 7 days, little bit easier with girls (Tinder/CC) but this city is very very very boring. I have stayed in the hotel 70 % of my trip, I have tried to go out, but not much to do.
But so sad, Medellin 2014 was the best trip of my life, this time it was good, I had a great time, but I did not get laid like a rock star!

He probably meant bang but it would be a lot more interesting if it was gang-bang.

^He said she was pretty hot and that he put in a lot of work for the bang so I assume that he kept her around. Myself, if I like a girl then I usually go steady with her but of course I'll have the odd side chick to keep things interesting. I'm at a point in my dating career where first dates have become almost dreadful.

I guess I'm getting old. I like to find a girl I like that I enjoy hanging out with and just party with her. I know that idea is contrary to this website, but I don't give a shit. I don't find most women to be very entertaining or interesting, so if I can get one that likes to drink, hang out all night, see new things, and is fun, I'm happy.
There was a time when I enjoyed continual new ass like the rest of you. But I'm too old and bitter to deal with that shit anymore. It takes too much energy.

I wrote wrong, bang* not gang.
She was very hot the one I got, and yeah I spent time with her. Even brought her with me when I went to hacienda napoles. Solid 8,5.
But do you guys know any good cities around Medellin that is worth visiting?

I rented an apartment right by the lake in Guatape. Three bedroom, two bath for $180 for one month. The landlady didn't ask for ID or run a credit history. She didn't even know my last name. I gave her money, and she gave me a key.
That's such a sweet town with some hot talent. I had a friggin blast in Guatape. Every day to walk off my hangover, I'd walk to the Rock. "El Penol." It's a few miles from town, and the last part is all uphill but worth the effort. I you guys haven't seen it, youtube Guatape and see the incredible views. Cobblestone streets with colorful shops and surrounded by lakes. What a gorgeous town.
I got laid faster in Guatape than ever before anywhere in the world. From the time I met the girl on the street, until we were in the sack was under 20 minutes. And when I tell this story, people always ask, "So how much did she cost?" It cost me a dollar. In the morning she wanted a croissant and a coffee from the bakery. And then she took my dirty laundry to her mom's house and washed my clothes for free. So it was a dollar well spent. It sounds like a bullshit story, but she was a Gringo chaser and it just worked out.

It turns out that she was also a headcase, and now I can't go back to Guatape.

Guatape basically is basically a one-street town. Glad you got your money's worth from the locals.

Guatape is a weekend spot, its only two hours from Medellin so the city people go there to chill out, it really is a nice little quaint town. The fist time I went it was with a few buddies and we rented an awesome finca outside of town that cost $250/night, a retired Colombian couple who lived in the US for thirty years built it and it was featured in architecture magazines, very cool design. We did a boat tour of the lake, there's also party boats which could be cool. I'm not sure about night clubs or pubs but I'd probably get bored there after a few days. There's a couple of hostels in Guatape so you will see other foreigners in town but not too many.

Nothing against Guatape. Just something about Brewdog's post made me flinch.

Any non obvious gringo can chime his experiences in medellin?
I mean, I continue reading the the biggest problem you guys face is girls think by default you are low status whoremongers.
It's just that? or is one of those cities where picking up without a social circle is an uphill walk?
Speaking with my local friends of Bogota I realized medellin girls have fame of gold diggers if that is the case it might be logical that they don't want to be with a passing by gringo instead of old guys with money or young thugs, which are the groups who seem doing best for the little time I was there.
I'm curious about if a light latin looking guy with great spanish can do well without social circle, for me that kind of game is a pain in the ass. If some mone and merging with the culture long term is all you need I don't see that as a big problem.
