Half of all misogynistic tweets posted on Twitter come from women, a study suggests.

A 2014 study from cosmetics firm Dove found that over five million negative tweets were posted about beauty and body image. Four out of five were sent by women.

Something every male knows already - that women secretly and very deeply, hate other women...

Its not men they have to worry about - its each other...

It's human nature to be envious; in fact I think women may be more prone to it via subconscious instinct than men from an evolutionary psychology POV.

In an ancient tribe if a woman was abandoned by her husband for a more attractive woman then it presented a much bigger threat to her survival since her and any offspring would now be without a male provider; however men, or at least alpha men would still have a fair share of women to pick from even if their wife left them for another man.

Hence why it's usually women (and beta men) who are the most jealous and catty over more attractive men and women; those who know they have fewer options can't afford to lose what they have.

(This is why the fat feminists have an instant credibility loss; looking at them it's pretty apparent their claims about "objectification" really come for from envy that men are more interested in "objectifying" other women rather than their own super-sized bodies. Most of these obese Tumblr Bimbos would pose nude for Playboy in a heartbeat if they happened to magically lose that 200 extra lbs)

George Carlin is incorrect. Women understand women less than men do. Their capacity for self awareness ends at "what do other people think of me". Of course, speaking to the contrary are any number of history's great female philosophers.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

There's so much hamster in that article, however this to me is the crux...

The bigger question is what can be done about it?

Nothing. You fucking idiots.

Why do you have to do anything? Why do you have to see normal human interaction as pathological? Are you really gonna spend the rest of your life trying to change something that doesn't require changing?

Fucktards.

The commonsense approach to posting comments on social networks would be to never say anything online that you wouldn't say to someone's face but that simple rule seems to be regularly ignored.

Being able to post anonymously helps and, in many ways, social networks have become the modern day equivalent of a natter over the garden fence or a gathering on the village green - but on a global scale.

And just as in the old gossip circles of old, there will be people whose comments are meaner or more aggressive than the rest, so that is amplified online. And now the voices of the trolls can be heard and they can pick victims - generally people they don't know - pretty much at random.

Abuse on social networks is not new and neither is the revelation that women contribute to the problem.

Actually, the commonsense approach here would be for this particular journalist to be flipping fucking burgers & therefore contributing to society. And I'd love the opportunity to say it to your fat fucking face.

Well - before studies like this... It really was the assumption of pretty much everyone that the majority of misogynistic tweets were from basement dwelling neckbeards and "threatened" men.

Conscious Pirate, I'm not really sure what you are trying to say. Could you clarify?

How did "Misogynistic" become accepted as a real word?

The feminists who throw this non-word around sound even more retardistic than normal.

Americans are dreamers too

Seems to be that the best way to end online misogyny is to teach women manners.

Which is bizarre because most neckbeards are serious white knights.

The study, conveniently published the day before Yvette Cooper launches here “Reclaim the Internet” movement, is rather vague on the details. We don’t know how they collected their data, or what their criteria for inclusion/exclusion were. Bearing that in mind we’re going to have to make some educated guesses: Since rough estimates put the number of twitter users in Britain at between 12 and 20 million people, 6,500 is roughly 1/2000th. You have, apparently, a 1/2000 chance of being “targeted” by a tweet using the word slut or whore. Personally, that is a risk I am willing to take.

This is a very good article to read if you want a bit of further elucidation on the matter.
