It's good for us, because it'll increase this dream most Filipina have, to have a (Eurasian) child with a Westerner..
Expect even more Filipina cuties to ask you for a DNA donation

This woman only embarrasses herself if she files a lawsuit.
It's a really unfortunate mistake. I'm sure she was humiliated and extremely disappointed.
But don't act like a fucking infant about it. Shit happens. It was a bonehead move, yes, but given it was all spur of the moment, I'm sure it was no simple thing to decide the best way to recover from the blunder.
Silly pageant or no, Miss Universe ought to have some class - that's largely the point.
Filing a lawsuit over something like this is far from classy.
I'm sure she's seeing dollar signs, or someone is, but if her PR team is worth anything they'll tell her to back off the idea fast and find other, less demeaning ways to profit off the huge buzz this is creating.

If you've seen Steve Harvey on Family Feud, his shtick is when a contestant gives a weird answer, he looks out at the audience as if he's dumbfounded. Granted this was somewhat funny the first few times he did it, but by now it's become obvious why he acts speechless: He simply can't think of anything witty or funny to say in response.
Harvey's blunder in announcing the winner of the pageant is incompetence of a level never before seen in the history of live TV events. All of the information had been correctly and clearly spelled out on the card in his hand — and he still managed to fuck it up. Then in his tweeted apology, he misspelled the names of the countries of the two women involved.
The root of Steve Harvey's problem is that he isn't terribly bright.

Agreed.
This news will spread across the entire Philipines, and if Filipina's didn't already know who this girl is, they will know now.
This will just increase the desire of girls in the Philipines to get impregnated by White/Western men so they can also have a chance of having an attractive Eurasian daughter who could one day be Miss Universe
Good times ahead

Am I the only one who thought this might be a marketing gimmick?
I mean, it's ballsy, and I don't really think it's a gimmick. It's the top tier pageant in the world, Steve Harvey having to look stupid, the pageant has to look stupid, embarrassment for the entrants, I'm guessing they already have decent ratings, potential lawsuit, plus it'd be tough to cover up a planned gimmick forever. There's no way it was planned.
But still...I bet their ratings will be better next year. In this day and age who knows.

Damn, that sucks for the girl.
I don't find the USA contestant to be extremely hot. Is it just me?
I would of course bang the fuck out of her but I especially think Oklahoma could have done better.
I dunno, she's pretty damn attractive in my book.

Exactly what would they be trying to market?

You may be tempted to think that these scandals are blown up in the media in order to boost ratings for the pageant. Yet while everyone knows about the controversies, you can't find one person (other than me) who actually watched the pageant. The marketing has all failed, from Vanessa Williams to Carrie Prejean. Why would they think seeing half naked women in lingerie would entice me to want to watch them fully clothed? Whoops?
IIa.
"The photos seemed designed to generate controversy and buzz about the pageant, TODAY's Matt Lauer suggested to pageant president Paula Shugart. 'Yes, to some degree it's marketing,' Shugart admitted"
Wrongolongoria. The controversy isn't to get viewers to watch the Pageant, the controversy is to get viewers to watch the Today Show.
Shows don't operate on their own, they're soldiers in a standing army. Miss USA is run by the Miss Universe Organization, owned by Donald Trump and NBC Universal, which is co-owned by GE and Vivendi. That means the Miss USA pageant can be enjoyed as a loss leader for MSNBC, NBC, USA Network, Bravo, A&E, Hulu, Activision/Blizzard, and Universal Studios.
And rival media is free to capitalize on it if they want. Oh, is she Muslim? Then off to Fox News and Glen Beck and etc. You think CBS is talking about it because they want to boost NBC's ratings?

I love the way this forum thinks.
You're absolutely right though, knowing how Filipinas and well all SEAs think, this will spread like wildfire and become a trend, with some luck also among the higher classes in the country. Then it will fade once some new Korean pop star emerges.
