Let's get some dope threads for winter in here.

I just picked up a pair of these pants:

I have those pants-Black Watch Tartan-and being largely Scots-Irish, wear them proudly in the winter

Don't fuck with the Black Watch

I dont own a tuxedo. I have never really needed one, although I have had a few events over the last couple of years where I would have been more comfortable in one.

This year I started looking out for something that both caught my eye and yet would still be considered appropriate evening wear.

I think I have it narrowed down to:

[Image: etro-light-blue-paisley-trim-velvet-blaz..._flex.jpeg]

Or:

These are all Etro.

I dont think I will get the patent shoes. Something about them I just dont really like, but then again I have never even looked at them. Perhaps I am missing something.

Although these caught my eye.

The first jacket looks off to me, maybe its the jeans or the matching lapel to square.

As is, Id choose the 2nd one.

My opinion is that if you are buying super-formal clothes, they should be applicable for super-formal events. The 1st one just doesn't cut it. As a odd-jacket, however, it would look great at night....

I have a midnight blue velvet blazer-same color as the first jacket but less structured and formal. Makes a great casual jacket in the winter- I usually wear it just like the guy in the photo with jeans, nice shirt and a pocket square

Been lurking this gear site to expand your little heads here, and stumbled across this:

Not really my style, but I think it would fit a lot of the youngers players round here. My thoughts:

1. The bag is fag.

2. The belt is great if you're wearing a shirt untucked. The thinner the better.

3. The shirt is fine if you like stripes, but I'd lighten the color to contrast the rest of the outfit.

4. Nothing wrong with the jeans.

5. Ditch the sweater coat and just go with a regular peacoat. Much more versatile.

6. The watch and bracelet are fine, but don't wear at the same time. You'll look like a tranny Wonder Woman.

7. I'll be wearing one of those anchor rings. Old school.*

8. Those boots are fucking boss.

*In fact, that whole website is fucking cool. I see things I'll order, and will be inquiring about commissioning a piece.

^^like the style of that jacket but would want it in black. I look to young to wear a long pea coat. I need some boots or something to wear with a jacket and jeans. Tennis shoes doesnt look good.

As I have gotten a bit older (34 now) I have gravitated a lot toward some of the better styled European CEOs particularly in the auto industry...a few of my favorites:

Stephen Winklemann (Lamborghini)...this guy has great hair and always wears very well-fitted suits. Also helps to be very thin and in good shape.
[Image: Stephan+Winkelmann+New+Audi+A3+Productio...WnVW5l.jpg]

Luca Di Montezemolo (Ferrari)...again "devil may care" hair with a good suit....
[Image: Luca+Di+Montezemolo+2010+Paris+Motor+Sho...b-0hIl.jpg]

I also like Lapo Elkann's (non-CEO, mentioned earlier in the thread) style but one has to be careful because he wears a lot of stuff that would look clownish and "try hard" on a guy that doesnt have his full look...he is usually unshaven, has crazy hair, chain smokes, and is a recovering heroine addict...if u just tried to wear his suits without his full lifestyle it would be incongruent IMHO.

Just wanted to share this. Ive been looking for good looking jeans for a while now that fit me well. I go to gym and squat, my quads are 68cm (26.7inch). Found these Levis 508 and size 34/32 fits me perfectly, not too tight, not too loose. Im sure some guys here have same problem of finding good fitting jeans. Try this model.

Maybe not for the younger guys but this look from Mad Men is pretty bad-ass if you swap out the over-the-top pants for a goof pair of jeans. Note also that he is wearing leather boots and smoking what appears to be a joint...this is high level stuff for an advertising exec...

Good style I agree, but jeans with a double breasted jacket and tie? No way.

It would take some very real convincing for me to agree to that.

OK i'll admit that maybe jeans arent the right idea with a double-breasted blazer but my point was that the pants may be a bit much for 2014 but that i liked the rest of the outfit. I also dont wear ties normally....but double-breasted can be bad-ass as roger sterling shows above and Lapo Elkann shows below...

Lapo has sick style. You can tell that he has been cultivating his look for a very long time. It is not about style to him, it just is. If that makes any sense.

In order to pull off style like Lapo you have to have the swagger to go with it. A just dont give a fuck attitude.

Anyone can go to H&M and pick up Lapo style for $200 but when out on the street they will look terrible. Give a guy with the right attitude the same clothes and he will kill it.

What kind of shoes are those? I am looking for something like that as a mix between the boot/dress shoe and sneakers for more casual everyday wear.

couple of my recent buys:

I think it was Laner who posted this Etro Blazer somewhere in this thread or possibly another and it caught my eye then... sorry to jack your idea Laner but I stumbled across it on ebay brand new with tags never worn, I'd see it get relisted every every few weeks for a while, he wanted half what his ex paid retail for it, I emailed him told him if he needs it gone I'd offer him half that, he didn't respond for a month but finally did and said if you still want it deal. So all in under 400 bucks for a 1500 blazer [Image: smile.gif] Bargain shopping.

Good casual brogue. Grenson Stanleys.

so fashion experts, chime in, what color pocket square and as for the shoes im thinking of trying some red laces in these, I saw some green laces in a pic that worked but red could pop. Open to thoughts.

Well done son. That Etro blazer has been killing me. I actually popped in to Holt today to check it out, but $1500 is just too rich for me.

Try some purple laces with the shoes. Or yellow like the tulips. Pocket squares are more a mood thing for myself, I just pop one in and away I go. Someone else could chime in as I am more color blind than I let on.

Lets grab a beer. Check your IM.

Got a pair of Clark's Bostonian by far the best pair of shoes I have ever worn. Comfortable yet stylish, the brown really complements blue jeans, their are my daily go to pair. I'm about to buy another pair exactly the same, after a year and they are almost in the same condition, I want to get them again in case they ever stop mass producing them.

Also have a pair of Aldo boots more or so like these. The thing is I'm having problems deciding how to wear these, stick the tongue out over the jeans? Jeans over? Any suggestions? I wear Levi's 510 so I believe they're straight fit? Overall nice shoes though.

My style is oriented towards what I'd call "post-hipster casual trad".

I don't often wear a T-shirt on it's on own unless I'm going to class or heading to the shops or something -- even then I almost feel naked without anything over them.

I'm more of a collared shirts person, long sleeves mostly and I'll rock a few polos during summer.

I have a varied rotation of jumpers (sweaters) in various types -- crew-neck, V-neck, cardigans and turtlenecks. I may wear a lighter knit in lieu of or over a T-shirt as dressy casual. I never wear hoodies unless it's a university one, and even then it'll be for doing the groceries and such.

An interesting observation about my wardrobe is that it's gravitated a lot from high-street wear to a lot of op shop finds. The part my city I live in currently has a huge hipster concentration and maybe that's rubbed off on me. Plus I have a sixth sense for op-shopping anyway so I hone in on a lot of good shit.

I have a lot of classic staples in my wardrobe; the ones that every guy should have -- Doc Martens, a Burberry trench coat, an M-65 jacket, khaki chinos, boat shoes, a navy blue DB blazer and a leather jacket I got for my 18th.

I have 3 suits that are fairly discreet but nicely tailored -- when I'm a bit more of means I'm hoping to go down the bespoke path. One of them is three piece with peak lapels and take braces so it does stand out in a discreet way. At this point in life I find an opportunity to wear them a couple of times a month. They're worn with fitted shirts that are in shades of blue, white or striped and generally take cufflinks and collar stays.

In winter I make use of a number of coats I have -- a shorter DB pea coat type, a longer SB overcoat Dad got tailored in China after I finished high school and a vintage RAF officers greatcoat. I'm hoping to get my hands on a surplus fishtail parka soon.

Your cardigan looks too big in the shoulders. It makes the upper arms looks droopy.

You should be wearing a narrow lapel in a shade of blue. The fit looks decent but the colour is off and the wide lapel and button stance is wrong for you.

And yes, tuck in that shirt. If you want to add a break between your sweater and trouser, wear a lighter belt and match it to some shoes. A good driving moccasin might look good with this and they come in some lighter colours.

JWLZG, although you have coordinated your colors well, along with what Laner said, go for a more high contrast look.

http://effortlessgent.com/contrast-cloth...binations/

Loose fitting clothes make you look less in control.

Dappered and GentlemensGazette along with Styleforum are good websites to refine your look.
