What are your thoughts on this? Scares me a bit cause I love going downtown. I think I'm going to have to be a bit more careful or get on Gardasil...
Mouth to Penis transmission has very low infection rates, if anything the female runs a higher chance of getting something from the male's semen.
Same thing goes for vaginal sex, for example with HIV the male has 0.05% chance of infection, it's double that the other way around.
Any talk of STD epidemics is fear mongering aside from HIV/AIDS epidemic, and if you're a straight male in the developed world who doesn't use drugs you shouldn't even worry about it.
Yeah the odds are something like:
3.2 per 100,000 - hpv and non hpv related cancer. 60% of oral cancer have hpv.
Oral cancer is 14-32 times more likely if you Have HPV -
so if you have it, 0.6 * 3.2 per100,000 * 14-32
= 1 in 1000 to 1 in 2000 chance of oral cancer lifetime risk.
To put that in perspective, that's about the same chance of DYING in any given year from all causes for a young guy in his 20s/30s.
The best thing you can do for all the big killers - cancer, heart disease, auto accidents etc - is sort your diet out, and wear your seatbelt.
Countries with better diets have 10x + lower risk of these diseases, and their diets often arent even close to optimal, just better than standard american/ european.
Paleo diet + Exercise + Tumeric + Coconut oil (huge) + Ginger + Green Tea + Vitamin D + Probiotics. Regular checkups (dentist + doctor), and wear your seatbelt. That's the 80/20.
