Yeah. I don't necessarily need to be dropping unneeded coin for the lambo set, all I want is the place with the hottest girls and best logisitcs.

Old Port still. During the summer months, you get a lot of traffic on St. Paul street, which is the major pedestrian cobblestone street full of restaurant and bars. Even my boy who's from MTL recommended staying in Old Port last time I was there. At night, it has a lot of bars that are within walking distance from each other.

The riverfront also draws a lot of folks, especially around where the yachts are.

All in all, you can't lose with either Old Port or Mt. Royal. I like the logistics of Old Port better. In addition to bars like Santos (my fav), Confessional, and the Velvet Club, you've got hotels like the W and Nelligans which have decent bars...

The thing is the OLd port it's more rich and more isolated and pedestrian . Sure you will have lots of good expensive restaurant and bar and beautiful women but you are more isolated .It's the kind of place you bring your girl with you normaly . The plateau it's near everything and you can take bike,walk,metro,bus,cab to everywhere . It's just a few block from downtown and every spot, it's more center . Both are good tho but, in my opinion you will pay much in the Old Port at the end .

Definitely a good long weekend trip. I'm excited about this summer. It seems a lot of the major players on this forum will be making an appearance up there as well. There will be plenty of space for all of us to eat well up there. One thing I love about this city is the favorable ratios. Plenty of options at every spot.

One of my favorite aspects of Montreal is the variety of nightlife options, there is literally something for everyone!

Friday night could be spent at a hard core punk show at Foufounes, Saturday suited up at a posh club on St Laurent, Sunday chilling at a shisha bar, etc.

I don't know of anyone who could go to Montreal in the summer and not have a blast!

Quite a few Montrealers speak Spanish (well compared to the rest of Canada anyway), most grow up speaking French and English, so many learn Spanish as a third in school.

5 months out of the year, but May-September is ideal. I made an October visit and the weather varied day to day, but was generally decent. The nightlife was still going strong as well. However, the vibe from May-Sept is better because there's always festivals going on and it has a summer feel.

I gather there are French speaking and English speaking districts. I speak French with a French accent - should I open in French in certain areas? Or should it be in English and transition to French?

When I was in the States last, I met very few girls who didn't love the English accent, I guess because it's exotic and all the stereo types on films etc they've seen.

Would it be as well received in Montreal do you think?

After seeing how many people rave about this place on here...my summer vacation is already in motion to Montreal as we speak.

You should always open in French if you speak French . If your interlocutor is English he will answer in English . The English community are located in the west island . Like I said open in French first you don't want to start with 1 strike to begin .

The majority of girls in Montreal are bilingual. They either speak English well or at least decent enough, with or without a Quebecois accent (usually at least a slight accent). Occasionally you'll meet a fly girl who doesn't speak any English, but that's not that common in Montreal. You really start meeting "only-French" girls when you venture out into the rest of Quebec.

French is still the mother tongue of most of the population, so opening in French would be well-received. I think that's a huge plus man, especially as a foreigner, whom Montreal chicks seem to love. Plus, the UK accent should go over well. That's one of the smoothest accents out there. Don't take my word for it? Hear what my man Aries Spears has to say!

Alfonzo is correct, always open in French because chances are she's Francophone (lets not forget that although Montreal is a highly bilingual city, it is indeed MAJORITY French) and opening in English may make her standoffish. If she's bilingual francophone, it'll put her at ease if you speak in her monther tongue.

Also, depending on the person, if you approach someone in English, they may just dis you and pretend as if they don't speak ANY English, because they think that it is rude. If you think about it, it is because the province of Quebec IS NOT BILINGUAL, guys, I can't stress this enough, learn some basic French (bonjour, parlez vous anglais, merci, etc) before you come to Montreal, it will help, big time!

BTW, Montreal is a TERRIBLE city to learn French, well, you'll meet francophone people, but most speak English so well that they'll switch automatically if they hear an English accent.

I don't want to put anyone off from the idea of visiting Montreal or the rest of Quebec, but understand that this is a place and people who are very proud of their French heritage, a few simple word "en francais" will go a long way!

I was doing a little research and noticed there is also a Little Italy part of Montreal - which I didn't expect.

Clearly, the place is culturally and ethnically French. However I'm just curious is there a significant community of Italian types there? I love Italian women and speak Italian, is there a niche market in there somewhere - bars, clubs they frequent?

Slaying French and Italian speaking women in the same place would be heavenly...alas my hunch is there they're just 2nd/3rd generation types, which is cool anyhow.

Yes , in Québec we have a important italian community . They are based in Saint-Léonard . It's in the east of Montréal . I haven't go there often but you will mainly see restaurant,stores may be some bar but, it's not really an area where people go out .

The importance of speaking french is very true. Learning even a basic words will help you out immensely.

Unfortunately I struggle to say even the most basic things in french because my pronunciation sucks! Its gonna take me a lot of hard work to learn french.

I'm going back to Montreal this summer, but in the meantime I'm going to find a french tutor to teach me french so I can speak french in a correct manner. With some basic french you'll do 10 times better.

This city is fly as hell. Come here with a decent bankroll and you'll kill. I'm glad I made this recon trip and it has been fun as hell.

I just spent this past weekend with friends in Montreal.

I'm on the beginner side of things so let's just say expectations weren't too high anyway. I did have confidence though. I didn't come away with much of anything, but then again I was only there for 2 nights. With an extended stay, I feel I could have better adapted to the girls I was meeting. We got basically an entire hostel building to ourselves as there were 6 of us and the main room housed 6 people. We were located at the corner of Sherbrooke and Andre. 10 minutes walking distance from St. Laurent clubs.

The first night we went out on St. Laurent around 11:30 and the lines everywhere were long as hell. Somehow the bouncer at Tokyo Bar let my friend and I pass the the entire line for $5 extra each. Once inside we chatted up a bunch of girls. We met girls from Boston, Ottawa, and Toronto. There were definitely more girls from out of town. Didn't have much luck though, we danced with a bunch of them but couldn't come away with anything more. Extensive cock blocking and "I have to go to the bathroom" excuses so we kept moving on to different women.

Night 2 we pregamed way too hard. We planned on going to Ivy Nightclub (also on St. Laurent) but somehow ended up at Tokyo Bar again. Note: For younger girls (I'm 20) Tokyo Bar will never disappoint. I ended up dancing with one particular girl, and splitting the cost of beers with her. We also used the same hanger for coat check and I was honestly too drunk to remember who paid. Somehow we lost each other, and at the end of the night I ended up getting my jacket. I couldn't find her anywhere so I took her jacket back with me as a souvenir. I later found $20 CAN in it, so there's that. A small victory.

I regret that I lacked a real game-plan. I kept cold approaching and using "Excuse me, where are you from?" as an opener. It worked well at first, but after that, not so much. Also did some cold straight-to-dance approaches, which worked well, but didn't lead to anything more than just that. The entire weekend I only received one "I have a boyfriend" so that was good at least. It was likely my errors or lack of a plan, but I came away feeling like girls there were beautiful, but not so receptive to anything more than dancing. At the same time, I really only tested game in one particular club.

It was a fun trip overall, and in terms of game, it was a failure but a learning experience. We all have to start somewhere, which is basically my excuse for not closing on any girls.

You really can't go wrong with Tokyo Bar if you're younger like I am. There are hot girls everywhere in there at night. And the opportunities will be there. Here's to hoping you fare better than I did. But I can't wait to go back. Even with no success, the city itself amazed me. I'll be looking to stay longer next time.
