The best areas of Calgary are also the most liberal: Beltline, Kensington, Mission. Mission being the most conservative of the three simply because it is more expensive and has more families/stability. Kensington the most because of students and alternative types.

These types of people do excel at making me coffee and bringing me plates of food, so it works out rather well.

Sunalta, though a nice area, seems to have more young family NDP supporter types, which was a shame.

I also enjoyed Eau Claire, but I don't know much about the people who live there. There are some very high end condos.

Compared to the rest of Canada, Calgary is awesome. The only downside is winter, and they probably have the 2nd easiest winter of all major cities anyway.

There is a high degree of respect for working hard and having ambition in Calgary, yet the customer service remains comparably high (to the rest of the country). Unless you are super industry specific, you can easily just associate with politically neutral / right leaning types and still not limiting your options.

If you live in the areas I described above, you don't even need a car. It's a very walkable city if you stick to those areas and just rent when you want to head to the mountains or the okanagan.
I think the question was if Calgary is more liberal than most Canadian citcies ? i have found canadians more conservative and less sexual than americans, so more americanized the city is , better is.. ( here in Monteal girls are against ONS , more conservative European mentality)

And Is it easier to find job (corporate jobs ) on IT-Finance in Calgary or Vancouver ? Still Alberta Salaries the highest of all Canada ?

Generally speaking in Calgary you can openly say that you thought Stephen Harper was a decent PM unlike in most Canadian cities where admitting such a thing is akin to saying you participate in child sacrifices.

Well if you are saying that White girls are dating Asians and Blacks , that means it is not that racist.

Are you suggesting that people can't be conservative and open to interracial dating?

I'am not sure if i got your last message but i thought you meant that Calgary people less open to interracial dating than others provinces because they thought Stephen Harper was a decent PM .

If not explain what do yo wanted to say by that ? more conservative because they Stephen Harper was decent PM ? i dont see the relation between politics choice and being conservative.

When i said conservative , i meant they way less liberal, sexual ..

What the fuck does Harper have to do with racism?

Sounds like you been reading HuffPo or some shit in regards to the CPC.

People on the left love to paint Albertans as racists or some shit. But the province plays by the rule of "don't fuck up". It just happens that a large majority of people who take offence to being told they fucked up, happen to not be white. Then there is the whole new effect of white lefties thinking they need to stick up for the poor minorities.

To clarify my last post, Calgary is less socialist than the rest of Canada.

But if you hang out in the areas that I posted about (and you should, because that is where the action is), then Calgary is just about as socialist as the rest of Canada.

However, even the socialists seem to possess a great level of ambition and punctuality unknown in the rest of Canada. If you prefer the pace of the rest of Canada, you will find Calgarians seem rushed (I don't feel this way, but outsiders say this to me).

Context: I have lived in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal. Have visited Kelowna, Victoria, Winnipeg, Niagara, and Quebec City for multiple overnighters. Driven through small town BC, AB, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Quebec. So besides the east coast I have a decent grasp on the different personalities of the country.

This is Calgary's mayor:

His name is Naheed Nenshi. He's brown, Muslim, lives with his mom, and he's probably gay. The Laurentian elites of "enlightened" Toronto have NEVER elected a mayor even approaching this level of diversity.

Nenshi is attaining a level of diversity previously believed to be impossible.

I am a white conservative who spent part of his childhood in Calgary, voted for Stephen Harper, and I have dated many women of diverse backgrounds. In fact, I have a mulatto daughter.

As Laner so eloquently put it... what the fuck does being a Stephen Harper-supporting conservative have to do with inter-racial dating?

This thread took a rather strange, strange turn.

And for the record, when I went to Calgary a few years ago, the two most common racial groups I saw were white and Asian, with a huge advantage to whites. I didn't see too many interracial couples at the time but I won't doubt what scotian is saying since he's been there more often than I have. There were some black people other than myself but not a lot, and I didn't get the impression that most people cared about my appearance like they may here in the US. I do remember one chick not-so-subtly indicating that she didn't like black people when I approached her, but when I look back now it was probably a **** test more than anything. To sum it up, being black didn't give me a huge advantage like it may in some other parts of Canada.

There is no stigma in AB for interracial dating; in fact, for a lot of the hottest girls it is a cool thing.

Your excuses are your own.

That's what I've noticed to. Many of the hot and popular girls will go for black guys to raise their popularity even more.

Hey Scotian, thanks. I was living in Edmonton before , I got a new job in Calgary so I packed up and moved here.

As it relates to interracial dating in Alberta , I wouldn’t say there is a stigma attached to it. There are some girls who definitely only go for minorities, so if you’re a minority such as myself (I’m black) you’ll be in a good position for these girls. However I think the girls are few as a percentage of the whole fuckable female population. There are some women who just will not fuck with blacks guys at all and in my experience and opinion these women are in significantly greater number than the ones who do fuck with black guys. I’ve accepted that this is the way it is and I just game more. I just approach more women, eventually I’ll find a few who loves the stove pipe.

Black Guys complaining about racism is a bit weird: because in many countries around the world there are women with "sex with a black man for the first time" on their bucketlists or BBC worshipers. Never mind most hip hop nightclubs (even in Asia) are full of women with black fetishes.

If any race of men has a hard time then it's probably Indian guys who speak with Apu accents in western countries. Or East Asian guys got got the genetic stick (shorter than 165 cm).

Calgary in general is just a terrible city for game, high bitch shields, very passive women, boring. everyone i know thats wise has left for greener pastures out east or in BC. If you're going anywhere head out to british columbia its really tight out there. A city like Victoria is like the ideal canadian city. Even with vancouver girls i've had some success coming from there, often the best reception i get from approaches are the women from BC. Best weather in the southern portion (which is where everyone lives) in Canada, and the highest visible minority population out of any province.

With the bases loaded all we needs a hit boy ima still swing for the fences, I guess you tend to over do it, when you come up under-privileged

I lived in Calgary for 2 years (may move back soon) and Victoria for 6 months, I’d take Calgary over Vic anyday.

Night life in Vic sucked, the people are weird, broke ass stuck up hippies, it’s the SJW capital of Canada and full of uptight protestant cunts, not very multicultural at all. I did enjoy the water though, great hiking and fishing too. Job opportunities are very limited, mostly government which is probably why the people are so boring and left wing.

Calgary is 4 times bigger, way more multicultural and you can openly identify as a conservative without being called a Nazi. Ya the winters are cold af but it’s the sunniest city in Canada and world class skiing, hunting, hiking and fishing are nearby. I found the women to be way better looking in Calgary and never had a problem getting laid.

I would rather live in Vancouver over both cities but I’m not sure how well I’d deal with the rainy winters and of course the cost of living there is through the roof.

As far as the economy, the oilfield is doing better, but I'm not sure how quick they will be to hire staff back now that they realize they can make the same amount of barrels with a fraction of the staff. I think the jobs will come with expansions and new projects. The girls can be a bit bitchy and of the gold digging type, but that just comes with an oil city. I find the women to be better in Saskatchewan and interior BC, but there are plenty of women from both in Calgary. In addition, as Scotian mentioned, it's a very multicultural city, so the possibilities are endless with meeting women not from Calgary or even Canada. I enjoy living here, but I need to up my game to get better results with the women born here as I've gravitated towards what I think are easier, less entitled women from abroad.
