Miatas need to be tuned into hardcore track machines to get respect....

A little too much for the street, but a hell of a lot better than a stock MX-5...

Enough hate on these two cars. Prius I could understand but not only is the Miata one of the best reliable cars ever made they have tons of potential and are fun to drive. I would buy or drive a Boxster s in a second.I had a Miata. A stripped down steel wheeled no power option model and was running 7s with it in the eight mile with the help of a little forced induction. Also this thing clownded about anything on the road at stop light jaunts.

funny how people saying that the boxster s is a poors man porsche here, probably wouldn't be able to afford the maintenance of one.

Gay?

The Miata is still gay I don't care how much HP it has, plus the how many guys that will purchase them or boxsters will spend the money on mods (widebody kits, superchargers, etc) to make theirs like these VERY rare examples you posting.

95% will be bone stock typical gay miatas & boxsters..

No! A car is not gay. What do you drive? Please? Boxster mods are weak and expensive but Miata stuff has no bounds at all on the cheap...Means respect from the car community++++++++HP and good quarter times. For me -10 k at 12 secs reliable is a winner.

Edit..Made one guy piss himself in a Miata...Two in a Fiat X19 and just one in a Big block 66 chevelle 427 dual quads and 488s in the back

You know what's gayer than a Miata? Getting passed by one in your 911 GT3 with R-Compounds because you can't drive on the track even though you've got two Miata's worth of mods dumped into it. I see that shit happen all the time. If you can be fast in an MX-5 you can hop into anything later on and be quick.

Would you guys rather buy a Boxster or a BMW Z4?

A 2011 mustang gt matched a 2011 BMW m3 on the track so i would definately consider it. I liked the boxster compared to the z4 although. People seem to go apeshit when you say Porsche it seems, it's a bit funny.

How many people have actually driven a boxster, or even a roadster before? Especially the guys dissing them?

People are stupid. Caymans/Boxsters are widely regarded as great cars that could be perform better than the 911 if Porsche only let them.

Yeah I think the word 'Porsche' represents bigger wealth than the word 'BMW' at least in Eastern Europe.

not just in EE.

In Germany: BMW = Turk / Albanian. Porsche = Successful jerk

The more east you go from there the more: BMW = This dude has money and Porsche = OMG Marriage material. My friends from the Baltics widely agree that driving a Porsche around there will give you pretty much the same status as if you're driving a Ferrari.

Putting a BMW and a Porsche in the same level is surprisingly stupid. To have a rival it would be probably Mercedes, but even a Benz is slightly upper status. A BMW will never be compared with a Porsche, because Porsche´s are in the supercars league. I think Porsche´s are slightly lower than Ferrari´s, mostly because of the actual lack of exclusivity. As for the ones who say Boxsters are gay or poor man Porsche, let me guess you never drove/own one, and probably never will.

Boxster is the mix bewtween Boxer and Roadster, and the model was inspired by James Dean Porsche 550. I was going to buy one. But my girlfriend got pregnant. I´m in the market for a Benz, probably CLK.

Go buy a used one! I did a couple days ago. People who have Porsches tend to baby them and barely drive them. It's not hard to find one with only 30-40'000 miles one and be over 7 years old.

Buying a modern watercooled Porsche is Russian Roulette. Google "IMS Failure" for more info on exploding engines. Worth the risk IMO.

^^
Probably a BiTurbo, which are like the worst cars ever.

New Masers are okay, although the SMG gearboxes require new clutches like every 15,000 miles. I'm looking for a used Quattroporte Automatica right now, which has a proper normal automatic transmission. Too bad they never made one with a normal 6MT.

You CAN get a 1st generation Cambiocorsa with a 6MT though, and while they're a little strange looking, it's basically a Ferrari F430 engine, in the front, RWD, and a normal 6MT box. You can DIY most of the maintenance if you're mechanically inclined, and unlike a Fezza the engine doesn't need to come out of the car for belt service, just pull the radiator support off.

Boxsters are okay, but I have the same problem with them that I do with 911's and anything else mid/rear-engined (except NSX's, which never break). The engine has to come out for lots of service, and it has to come out from BELOW, which means I need a lift, which I don't have the garage ceiling height for, and I don't trust shops. Bollocks to that then.

I used to own an NSX, but I did nothing but change oil on it for 35,000 miles and redlined it constantly. Fucking brick of a car and impossibly fun to drive, consistently outgunned my bud's 996 GT3 at Summit Point track days despite being a 15 year old design.

tl;dr - Buy a used NSX instead of a boxster.

I agree with save the money and do something better with it. I dont know cars, but most of what I've read said we're headed towards economically fucked times. If you're in such a position that 20k isn't that big of a deal, but more then 20k is, I wouldn't be spending it on a toy car, I'd use to pack my shit and get out.

Dudes, it's just a used car, and it's not a toy. I don't have any other cars either. People really go silly when you say Porsche. You wouldn't be saying any of this if I bought a more expensive mustang, that's for sure. Even if the mustang had more miles on it. (and 10 years newer)

If you dont need it to live your life, and you're buying it because its fun to drive, its a toy. There's no problem in it being a toy, I'm just saying, if you dont need a vehicle to get by I'd sit on that money.

Thanks for saying it.

People can talk all the shit they want, but a nice car is a nice car that someone dropped a lot of money on.

People have different tastes, get over it. It's like everything else in life, you can't please everyone.

That said, I could care less about cars right now. But if I had money to drop on a nice car, I'd get a classic. They really don't make them like they used to.
