st prostate exam...what a disaster.

I am 60.
I had my first colonoscopy at 50. 3 polyps. Snipped off.
Had another one at 55 -- Clean.
Getting one this year.
If I had not had these colonoscopies, who knows where I'd be now.
By the way, I take psyllium regularly. I suggest all you guys do it, especially if you are over 40.
I now have a physical every 18 months or so -- blood work more often. DREs are part of the deal. The DRE takes 15 seconds. Suck it up.

PSA blood test. no need to bend over
PSA is a poor test - lots of false negatives and positives. PSA is better than nothing but a DRE allows the doc to feel the size and texture of the prostate.

The USPSTF concludes "the potential benefit does not outweigh the expected harms."[5]
..Obesity has been reported to reduce serum PSA levels.[25] Delayed early detection may partially explain worse outcomes in obese men with early prostate cancer.[26] After treatment, higher BMI also correlates to higher risk of recurrence.[27]

Funny read OP!
I had mine done too years ago and it was pretty interesting...lol . My doctor had a nurse to do it and the nurse looked like a Swedish porn star! I kid you not! Huge tits, straight blond hair, amazing body..etc. When I saw her I had no reservations about her sticking her finger up my butt.
I bet the nurse enjoyed it too...lol
