The quality of moondoo is still very high.
its simply so crowded.
every time I go there..there isnt even room at the bar.
Girls are grinding and leaving snail trails..but you can't get the girl out because a million people are in every square foot.

And the.smoke makes it hard to breathe and blink.
This place got to high a rep and is now overcrowded and not worth it.

Halo gets priority over moondoo.
Smoking should not be allowed in such tight.spaces without windows

There are some decent rock bars in the city.
But they normally have an older grundgy crowd.

Not my style...so I've never even tried game there.
If youre into that style, try them
rock bars have cheaper beer too..

Since Sourcecode mentioned rock bars but no names, here are three:

Große Freiheit 36, usually referred to simply as "36," on the corner of the Große Freiheit across the church. Huge venue with many different rock themes. Average girls. Friendly crowd.

Kaiserkeller is basically the basement of 36, above. The two are connected and you can freely switch between the two. For example, 36 might have '90s rock and Kaiserkeller goth night. This venue is just a small room.

One block over on the Hamburger Berg is Headcrash. Went there once, didn't like it. Too crowded, music wasn't that great.

These are average girls at best, with the occasional hottie. If you're into real hot chicks with short skirts and heels as opposed to merely cute, normal girls (you won't find many heels in the rock venues), then go to Halo, Superfly, and China Lounge. In the rock clubs girls are all approachable. In the techno/hop-hop places, bitch shields are predictably high but if you can stand that kind of music and have game, there are plenty of hot fucking girls.

Also highly recommended is Thomas Reade, a two-floor Irish-style venue. Not a club but a big bar with three different "rooms": the main bar area when you enter will often have a guy on acoustic; downstairs there is another bar area that plays a mix of '80, '90s alternative and rock, and in the back it's the techno dance stuff. Here you will find girls in skirts and heels with significantly lower bitch shields than the clubs mentioned above.

If you don't want to do club game at all and want to stick to small bars, go to the Sternschanze (S-Bahn to Holstenstraße), a neighbourhood within twenty minutes walking distance of the Reeperbahn. For those of you used to big cities, you won't find neverending rows of bars, rather a street or two with a bunch of bars scattered here and there. Recommended are: Oma's Apotheke, Frank & Frei, Fischbowl and Good Old Times. There are a bunch of other places too, you'll see them when you walk around. For some strange fucking reason, I once went therd 3:30am on a Friday and everything was closed. However, when the weather is good, the streets are crawling with people.

I find Sternschanze a good place to take a take instead of pick one up.
Lot of these places seems like people come with their friends and intend to sit and drink with there friends.
People are friendly..but don't really seem like they want other people joining their group
and of course the bars aren't blaring music

I will mention these two places
Zoe 2 and ZoeIII

They are right down the street from Oma's and are pitched as Sofabars. both are literally next to each other
Big open room with damp light and rich people looking sofas that look like theyve been sitting for year.
But they are comfortable and if you come on a night where they aren't packed..its a great place to relax with a chick and inch a hand down her pants.

But its a small quiet bar that instead of normal seats has old airplane seats mixed in.
Ive never seen this place crowded and its got small rooms that aren't closed off,but in corners so you can pretty much be in the back alone for an hour before another customer pops in

Thanks for pointing that out. I always think it's "Fishbowl" for some reason. I'll add a few more things and I hope the other guys will throw in their two cents.

Where To Stay

If you will be here for a few weeks or more, it's worth it to find something in Altona. This neighbourhood is a hop away from both the Schanze as well as the Reeperbahn. Depending where you are, you could easily stumble home in 15-20 minutes. Do not go too far out, it will not be fun.

One popular hostel is Instant Sleep close to the Schanze. You can also find hostels on the Reeperbahn if you want to be in the middle of the action.

Getting Around

Even though the trains run 24/7, after midnight they can take up to fifteen minutes to arrive. If you are going from the Schanze to the Reeperbahn, you're looking at half an hour, which can kill your mood. Better to take a taxi if you can find one or have a taxi service number handy or just do a brisk 25-minute walk if you know the way. Hamburg is a big city with a small town feel.

Do not get on the train without a ticket. You might be tempted if you're just going a stop or two, but getting pulled out of the train and wating to get a 40€ fine sucks. If you're passing through you wouldn't pay that shit anyway, but why waste your time getting pulled out. Do look over the cards, there are special discounts for shorter stays. Hint: If you are staying in Altona, get a monthly card for zones 101 and 000 for about 57€. However, wait a bit to get the feel of the city, you might decide you don't need one, especially if you prefer a bicycle.

For directions, go to http://www.hvv.de and input your departure and arrival points in the form.

Fast Food

Try the döner from the Turkish fast food joints. Best place is Euro Döner next to the Holstenstraße station. Get out and make a left. Also, try the frikadelle. For that I recommend lütt'n grill, a tiny little standing eatery in the Schanze.

As far as fancy German restaurants go, I find German cuisine overpriced and uninspiring, but one I enjoyed is Allegria. U1 (blue line) to Hudtwalckerstraße. Print out a map showing the short walk from the station to the place or you might waste a half hour walking back and forth trying to find it.

The trains do not use gates you have to pass through, like many other countries
The last stairs or elevator onto the tracks with have a yellow square painted that says something along the lines of. "once you walk pass you need a ticket"

But in 8 months..I was never stopped by a controller while traveling by train within the city.

The city is simply too big and not manned in the way you would think.
Yes their are plain clothed controllers..but they are also rare..and often aren't checking tickets on every line or stop.

The only time I was ever stopped was early in the morning at the main station upon exiting the station(not while on the train)
(and it was the one day I had a ticket..printed for a different train and they let me go anyway)
Recently getting caught "Schwarzfahren"Black riding also gets put on your record.
I never looked into it,but it has to do with getting jobs and credit ect.
But if you arent actually german...this pretty much doesnt apply to you.

Instead of pay 60euro a month for a ticket..it could possibly be worthwhile to just keep 40eu hidden in your wallet just in case.
I rode for 8 months and never bought more than a single ride ticket every once an a while on early mornings.



Recently the crack down went to buses.
You use to be able to walk right onto the back door of buses.
Now you have to go to the front to show the ticket.

But another way to cheat the system is to buy a cheap ticket and attempt to show it to every driver for the day.
I have a wallet that has a clear slot for my ID. I just put my one ride ticket inside there and flashed it to other drivers. They arent checking details..they just wanna see something

I recently spent a week in Hamburg for work... meaning Mon-Fri only, so I did not get to party Friday and Saturday nights.
Still I went out a few days, even though I had to get up for presentations and workshops at 8am every day.

First of all, weather sucks. Middle of July everyone was wearing boots, jackets, all decked up head to toe, some girls were showing bits of skin but not much. Comparing to the place I was coming from, 30-35 degrees C and girl wearing next to nothing, it sucked to land in a place where it was 15 degrees C, raining every day, and girls all covered up.

I was staying on the main shopping street of the city, Meck...something, which was posh and glitzy but did not have any nightlife venues and was basically deserted after 9pm. Luckily, it was only a few metro stops from Reeperbahn, which I understood was the city's party district.

It was a good place to party, buy a bottle of beer from a street vendor, crack it open, light up a cig, and walk up and down the street people watching, hollering at chicks, and listening to "komm hier sexy boy" from the hookers which are in abundance there.

I checked out a few bars, the 1-Euro place of course, one or two rock bars (full of dudes), a couple of so-called "clubs" which I felt were too small to be called that (good they didn't charge cover on week days) but could not pull anything. I found the German girls polite but cool and restrained. Could have been that it was all on weekdays and everyone had in the back of their head that they need to be up and fresh for work the next day.
Not willing to go home completely empty-handed, I ended up in a whorehouse which was tops for this kind of establishment among almost anywhere I've been in Europe.

It said "House of Sex" or "Point of Sex" in pretty big letters on the outside. Entrance was on Reeperbahn, close to the corner with Grosse Freiheit. Must have been more than 50 broads in there, on multiple floors.

that's a toss up.
Berlin, more hipsters and foreign girls. also more tourist.
In some sections its hard to even find german speakers because of the influx of tourist.
The foreign girls that do come can be beautiful, but a lot of them are into that hipster art style..which can completely ruin them

Frankfurt. i noticed alot of Turkish girls. also a lot of business type girls andpeople.
I felt like the bars are spread out to much. its more of a car city than most german cities

I've been to Frankfurt. My cousin lives there. It was alright but not a real German city.

I think Hamburg and Stuttgart make the most sense for me.

Cold approaching is really sketch.
Germans aren't ones to open up often..
But a woman that is interested in you on eye contact will talk.
It's been said multiple times, that Germans like to stare. Its not hard to pick out a stare of curiosity or interest.
I think people that have a problem with getting stared at, simply aren't used to it and haven't learned to deal with it.

I pipelined and online gamed all winter.
I can't even talk to germans in the winter..everyone outside bundles up..head down and jets to where they wanna go.
But when you get to the Reeperbahn (party central) people get happy..cause theyre indoors..they strip the layers and girls are back in dresses and skirts, ect.

When you do game online..girls are usually willing to meet up at a bar..its safe, and they can always disapear into the crowd.

I'd opt for Hamburg and Berlin. Both cities are interesting with places to see and there is a young crowd. You could do both cities, it's a 2h ride between Hamburg and Berlin taking the fast train ( called ICE).

Stuttgart , well I don't know... city itself is ok but not that special.

Another young city that comes to mind is Cologne.

Girlswise, I don't think there are great regional differences in Germany. I tend to think that the north has more attractive girls but the next guy might say the opposite.

The street walkers are nothing compared to the girls in the windows...or even in the buildings.
I've always been under the opinion..that if the prostitutes are aggressive with you right on the street....you might look like an easy target.


But instead..just hit up Frieda B in Hansalbertsplatz.

I think supermarket game is one of the best ways of gaming girls in Germany appart from clubbing. Day game on the open street can work if you are recognizeable as a foreigner needing directions etc....for the local German guy though, the risk of coming across as creepy is rather high.
