I've been out of the US for about 2 years total. This whole thread started because of a statement I made about hygiene abroad.
Like I said before..I got shit about bathing and wearing clean clothes in Norway and Greece.
Like.."What's a matter with this guy? He's taking a shower?" all the time.
The hot water wouldn't last more than two minutes in most places and others who wanted a shower would try to get in first.
I have a house in Greece and it has no shower at all. I have to go to another house to take one. My aunt and uncle have one and lose it when I ask to use it. I had to rig up a drum with gravity feed outside because I was sick of listening to complaints.

In Norway I would sneak my showers in so it didn't cause a Ruckus.

I don't see how washing your ass off at least once a day could be a bad thing. Especially if you're a grown male who actually moves around consistently you're probably only going to get about six to ten hours before you start to get sweaty and nasty. Even more so if you live in a warm/humid climate.

I would assume people who are smaller or more petite can get away with not showering for a day or two, but I don't think that works for an adult male with an average or large sized frame.

Well there you go then. America is very wasteful and is designed to cater for your excessive needs. YOu dont need to take a 20 minute shower... SO when you do it another country that hasnt got the facilities you wonder why people complain? A 2 minute shower will get you just as clean as a 20 minute one. When Im on holiday I will have a quick cold shower just to cool off. Job done.
ANd yes.. The UK is equally as obsessed with cosmetics as the US... including Deodorant. Greece is the hottest country in Europe. Is it any wonder people get a little hot and sweaty.

This is from Travel consumer
Hygiene
Bring a wash cloth and a re-closable freezer bag or two to store it in while you are between hotels. Apparently, Europeans don't fully bathe or they don't think that foreigners need to. You will rarely find a wash cloth in a European hotel. Some luxury hotels and some rare tourist friendly hotels may have wash cloths. If you see one, you are most likely mistaking a hand towel for a wash cloth.

European and many American hotels mistakenly believe that guests can adequately dry themselves with a piece of cloth about twice the size of notebook paper and about twice as thick.

If there is an evaluation card in your hotel room fill it out. Request giant bath sheets, huge fluffy bath towels, large absorbent hand towels, and bath mats that cover the floor. It won't help you this time, but it may help you the next time you visit Europe.

Toilets may have any number of flushing handles, plungers, panels, or even chains. They will most likely be located at the top of the water container, but may also be located on the floor.

Ever showered with a telephone receiver? If you haven't, you will in Europe. Shower heads are usually portable in that they can be taken off of the wall and used to rinse hair or delicate parts of the body. Consider that water that feels comfortably warm on the head can feel uncomfortably hot when sprayed elsewhere. Spraying elsewhere is also a problem. European and many American hotels don't have adequate shower curtains. It is very easy to flood the bathroom if you aren't careful. Remember that you will only have a couple of tiny little towels for mopping up the mess.

Haha, cost has nothing to do with this. If anyone in Europe has ever "freaked out" over you showering habits it's most likely due to two reasons.

1. Minimizing waste and recycling is second nature to Europeans especially in Scandinavia.
2. If you shower 3 times a day people are going to think you're spanking the smurf.

I kinda hijacked the Oslo data sheet thread (sorry) and have always been curious about bathing habits in other countries.

I mentioned that Europeans freak out if you take long showers when visiting and have very small water heaters. I also noticed very small washing machines as well.

Last time I was in Greece this dude who drove a taxi and hung out on the corner from my place wore the same exact clothes all summer. I asked him why and he said that he bought them in the beginning of summer and will buy something else when the season changed.

My bathing habits..I take three showers a day. One to wake up then one to wash work off of me and a quick one before bed.I wash my hair once a day and floss/brush my teeth three times a day. I clean my ears once a day with minty mouthwash and cotton balls and the same with my balls and ass. The reason is I don't want to worry when I'm screwing around with a girl. If she wants to lick my ear it should be minty.

My water bill is $20 a month and power is almost $200 in the summer(A/C 24-7)

My question..Do people in other countries skimp on this because of energy and appliance costs?

"and the same with my balls and ass."

I actually have pretty slim bathing habits compared to most, I bathe once a day and brush my teeth once a day.

I only shampoo my hair about once every two weeks, use body soap about once every two days (unless I've done something particularly dirty/sweaty)

Now, before you judge or say anything, I constantly get told by strangers of both genders and all alignments that I smell good, I get asked what cologne I wear weekly (I dont wear cologne) I've been complimented on the quality and smell of my hair (again washed once ever TWO weeks) and the whiteness of my teeth gets noted as well.

I think Americans on a whole are WAY over doing it on the hygiene. Its one thing to be clean and fresh, its another to scrub yourself silly. Your body wasn't designed by nature to use soap or a tooth brush.

Also interesting side note, I noticed after I switched to low carb dieting, I dont stink as much when I'm sweating heavily, wouldn't be surprised if the modern humans' funk comes from poor diet, not lack of hygiene. Sure would explain why women tend to be funkier then men.

When I was there I showered twice a day and had to be quick about it because the water would turn cold.

What's the waste? I pay for water and it goes in my tank and evaporates in my drainfield. Our water comes from the Aquafir there's springs all over that pour thousands of gallons into the ocean a minute.
My water heater is efficent and big. It never runs out on me.

In Europe the set it up for bathing to be a hassle. I would challenge any US player who told me they fuck a lot and don't shower everyday at least once.

what types of food do you think are the biggest culprits for bad body odor? and are there foods that make you smell good? im guessing McDonalds and other processed foods are relatively bad. then theres some foods that stink things up even if theyre fresh like garlic or onions

We were talking about Europe, no? I'd say a very minute minority shares the kind of possibilities (hot springs and real estate) you have.

So is it a water shortage a power problem or old utilities?

Here's a pic of the spring our water comes from. It is 75 degrees all year most of it just pours into the ocean.

I couldn't tell you, when I go low carb I cut out EVERYTHING so I dont get much of a sample group to test it.

It might just be starch in general, though I'm sure processed foods aren't helping the cause at all either.

Everything I've read about low carb, high fat diets basically lays out the fact that we aren't designed to process massive amounts of starchy carbs, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some kind of bi-product of breaking them down that makes us stink more.

Mostly it's the purification process, know that in Europe drinking and shower water are almost exclusively in the same lines which means they both get purified to drinking water standard. A lot of resources go into keeping the water clean.

In some larger cities with lots of old buildings the dated utilities will also play in.

This is due to the very high cost of water and electricity. In the winter, a lot Europeans shower only a couple of times a week, especially children.

Quote:Quote:

This is because of lack of space. Over the years larger, 'American' style washing machines have been introduced in the European market. Usually the doors are on the front so you can stack a washer and drier on top of each other, unlike American washing machines that open from the top.

Quote:Quote:

Yes.

Sorry, but i have never heard such BS. I'm from Holland where electricity and water are very expensive but everyone i know still showers every day. We have 5 or 6 kg wash load machines, they are not particular small.

Maybe in Eastern European countries but certainly not in Western European countries.
I also heard this story that Americans think that European girls don't shave under the arms or their pussy. Maybe in Turkey, which is NOT Europe nor will it ever be, no matter how hard they try.

Here's a global comparison for electricity prices:

A power bill of $ 200 /month sounds kind of exessive to me but I'm not sure how much power an A/C consumes... what do you pay during the other times of the year ?

My annual power bill is around $500 (no A/C) in Germay, despite local prices being much higher than in the US.

Dude, do you even life in your house?. My bill used to be 130 Euros a month, with no special appliances or Airco's. I'm from Holland.

I shower every morning, about 5 minutes. It's not to conserve but an old military habit. I always shower before going out at night, and after every fuck session, so technically 3x daily sometimes. After sex showers amount to a whores bath.

Typically I use soap only in the morning, as it is better for the skin. Also scent is an attraction factor, so don't keep your skin sterile. Ive posted before about using hypoallergenic unscented soap for this reason. Chicks love the way I smell after the gym. Its all about natural pheromones and testorone.

Bottom line the more you fuck the more you shower. I couldnt imagine pulling down my pants in front of a girl after not showering for two days. Chicks the dont like the putrid oder of "fumunda funk".

Now heres some next level shit. Shower, fuck a girl, then go immediatly out for the hunt without bathing again. I got big results from this.

Ask for a pair of her used panties to "remember" her. This might sound fucked up but it works. If she wont give them up steal those thongs and run out. Rub them all over your body before hitting the club. The smell will have an effect on you also, to a primal level.

I personally admire someone being really clean, but if you smoke it totally negates all of that and more. You're gumming up your lungs with something that can never totally come out. THAT is real insanity, far more than a few showers more or less is.

I'm not at home during the day. I have a small apartment.

Anyway, we all know that there are big differences in life style between the US and Europe.

I don't see any reason for having 3 TV sets running 24/7, e.g.

What is that for ? I only turn it on to watch it. Now I know people who will also pull the plug to avoid power usage when on stand by but I find that to be too extreme, I'm not that tightfisted or that much of an ecological nazi.

I also turn off the light when I leave a room e.g. and I don't heat every single room of my appt. during winter.
Also, when I have just been lying around all day without any physical activity/sex etc. and it is not summer, I don't feel the need to shower each and every day.

I do it automatically since that's how I grew up. So far, I haven't had any problems with that. No one has ever told me that I stink and I bet my body doesn't have more bacteria living on it than El Mechanico's.

To each his own, I guess. I have lived on both sides of the Atlantic but I will never really understand some parts of the American life style.

You want something that doesnt smell at all. Girls need to clue in on your natural scent, and scented products hide that.

Male grooming products in America conspire to not get men laid. The smells are to strong and kill any natural fumes. The raunchy idea of going out smelling like sex strangely does work. I have witnessed it from friends and myself getting mad makeouts and shit after banging out a girl in a storetop apartment. I still wanted to party so I went to an after hours and made out with 2 broads and fondled one in a alley. I stumbled home at 7am not really knowing how that all went down as I look back your idea @Aliblahba must be 100% right.

Roosh's idea for baking soda is spot on. not to much and you still get a natural smell going. Also deodorant stones works good as well. I drink chlorophyll with water and it deodorize internally, I recommend this to anybody who has atomic B.O. or is damaged by years of ethnic foods that have stained his sweat glands.
