I don't blame the family that much. The dude is a grade A loser. At 43 years old, driving a bus, and with one heart attack already under his belt, his potential is literally nil. At least with a young loser you can deceive yourself into thinking there is unrealized potential whereas this guy has very clearly topped out as a minimum wage penguin:

If my daughter was dating that guy I would probably shun her too.

The guy looks like a goofball and his body language is fucking awful, but if we are to believe the story, she pursued him on Facebook... while most of us are grinding it out in the gym every day to better navigate the assault course that is today's brutal sexual marketplace. His story is the absolute inverse of what most of us experience dating today.

Sure she's chubby, but she's pretty, young, and he's tapped into some prime pussy by doing absolutely nothing. Loser, or not.

I think this girl has The Honeymooners issues, she wants her own Ralph Kramden.

What was the average age gap back in the day? Say 40s to 80s? I can't find shit on the internet.

You want to know the only thing you can assume about a broken down old man? It's that he's a survivor.

Only a few years I would imagine, since both men and women married young. A twenty year age gap would have probably been unusual for most people, except in cases where a wealthy older man divorced or became a widower.

i'm 56 and my girlfriend is 30 and our baby is 7 months old now.

I plan on moving back to the US when my daughter is ready to go to school. I hope the attitudes about age differences in the US change in the mean time. Nobody in my girlfriend's family seems to have any issues with our age difference.

I don't want to find myself front page news when I get back. Or maybe it won't bother people as much when she is 36 and I'm 62.

I'm 51, not in the greatest shape and have been pulling women half my age since I lived in the Southern states; about 10yrs ago. My last young woman was 33 and before her was a 27y/o.

Guys, it's simple: stick to the basics, be genuine, be funny, be charming, be witty but above all be a MAN. Young women are still attracted to the same things older women are. Many will override their initial attraction, but those that don't will be quite rewarding.

Be careful though!!!! Almost every young woman I've had has serious Daddy issues. Don't play into their games. If they threaten to "dump" you, smile and say, "OK!" They'll be back in a week's time...

I think “Daddy issues” carries a certain stigma of crazy girls. It simply isn’t true across the sample set I have personally experienced. I think it has to do with the absence of a masculine teacher growing up. They gravitate towards a mature man who has his shit together and is willing to guide them. So long as you’re willing to take them under your wing, it’ a strong connection for them. Very very strong.

I prefer the direction of the shaming in this article/Europe

(much younger girl is shamed by her parents).

If this couple was in the US the direction of shaming would be much different

(older man shamed by his parents, his friends, society, loses government job due to SJW environment, forced to apologize, likely subjected to BS investigation for inappropriate relationships with minors, forced to apologize again, jailed, has heart attack in prison (girlfriend NOT at his side), apologizes again).

What's the origin of the strong age gap shaming culture in the US anyway? Is it an Anglo thing or just American?

I think it's a feminism thing. Women find it highly offensive that men do not lose our SMV with age the way that they do, and if you give them the chance they will bitch about it endlessly.

PT's age gap is the age of the youngest girl I'm dating right now and I thought I was doing good.

A bus driver in Germany earning 6 figures?

A German bus driver gets about 27,000 € per year, before taxes.

Source? No idea how it works in Germany, but as Capt pointed out, there are bus drivers in Toronto making over $100K, although this is the exception and is based on overtime. Usually they earn around $70K. And German unions are even stronger than Canadian ones...

This sounds a bit crazy too me. In Norway, which has a higher cost of living and wage level than the US and maybe similar to Canada, the average pay is in the $40-45K a year range for bus drivers. (Just looked it up.)

Maybe you can make 50K with full seniority and a lot of overtime, but that`s only halfway to a 100K a year. And as I said, Norway has a high wage level, and very powerful labour unions.

We will stomp to the top with the wind in our teeth.

Until they find a new Daddy figure. I'm not looking for long term relationshits here. Boomerangs are good but if they cut and run, I'm no worse off.

Whole story smells fake...especially the part where she "tracks him down on facebook."

I'm all for healthy gaps between older men and younger girls....but this dude doesn't convey anything that would make a young girl chase after him.

A lot of you guys seem to be missing a trick here. Putting aside the possibility that this girl has daddy issues, let's look at the guy objectively: He's tall, broad-shouldered and well-built (admittedly not shredded, but women don't need this to feel sexual attraction to a guy) and facially not bad at all. In fact, if it wasn't for the age difference, this is the guy that typically does well with the ladies here in Germany, usually by meeting them via social circle. If I had a euro for the number of guys with completely beta traited personalities but that have pulled hot girls here simply because they're tall, ethnically German and - better still - are well-built, I'd be a millionaire.

If the guy was short, swarthy and skinny, sure, it really would be an anomaly. But tall, well-built and German-looking? Common, keep it fucking real.

A lot of public transit bus drivers actually make pretty good money. In the Midwest city where I live, the average driver gets paid between $50,000-$$60.000 per year. The top tiered drivers, the guys with less than ten years to go before they retire clear $92,000 per year. It’s a small older bunch of guys that make that kind of money, but I was shocked to hear about this and it was confirmed by people that I know who work for the transit system where I live. It’s all dependent on overtime and various union rules. The top level tiered drivers get first opportunities for overtime and many take advantage before they retire.

I can attest to that. Here in Australia bus drivers who do a full time 5 rotating roster make $70-80k a year starting off. The longer you work in the sector the more you start earning. Throw in 4% yearly pay rises, RDOs, free public travel for you and close family and its way above minimum wage as some commenters think. If you do the occasional sixth day at double time and some public holidays and you can definitely make $100k but you'll be doing long hours.

Also why is this guy a loser to some? I thought this is what we all wanted? Smells of some pure jealousy from some.

I don't think anyone's called him a loser, we've only pointed out the guy has relatively low sexual market value for a guy who is apparently able to date half his age. Usually guys who do this:

1) are successful (bus driver isn't a terrible job but let's be real, it's not that impressive);
2) are fit/good looking, which he's not;
3) have game, which he doesn't seem to have (someone pointed out the guy's beta body language).

No jealousy that I can see. Just a lot of questions.

". I'd be pretty upset if my young daughter started dating a fat, 22 year older loser. "

Loser who can support a potential family?

I also don't agree he's not good looking, he is besides the gut.. Which is an obvious down side to his job If he'd start smashing it in the gym he'd be prime material. She probably saw that and got in before he might have realized that. People seem to forget that you can get rid of fat but you can't generate good looks.
