What countries/cities are the best to experience while very young? (18-25)

Well excuse me for not having rich parents right, kind of put me years behind in that fun maturation, always sucks to see some 16 year old had the fun on daddy's dime while your family was pinching pennies to help provide. Parents still did the best they could but what happened happened. Still in my mid 20s and in that getting it out of your system phase of life lol. Always a unique experience for guys like us who are just getting money and can finally afford decent things in life.

I personally do not mind the crazy drinking and people making a fool out of themselves since I missed out on in my younger days.

Assuming you look young enough but are on the older end, is age still the big issue?

My problem with a lot of the "older" bars is that they are full of the high brow snotty types that think more than one drink and not acting like the a typical high society Victorian-era prototype means you are "immature".

I have seen a lot of young people making around 50 to 60k or so make NYC work, they had to live with roommates and weren't in the most upscale part of Manhattan but they were in decent enough areas. You might not get to go out every single weekend and drop a Benjamin on shots but it is doable.

Given that I actually left NYC due to some money issues and wanting to save more, I actually regret my decision a lot because you do not want to spend your 20s in flyover country even if it means saving money.

For most of my 20s I was living with roommates off Craigslist and often $700 a month (no utilities thankfully) in what was often ran down crackshacks. Then after paying taxes, pension, insurance, car maintenance and gasoline - I almost never ever went out to eat and had to live off Quinoa + Beans + Frozen chicken for ages.

Honestly Asia was the first time I never had a roommate because Asian countries (for some reason) seem to produce a crap ton of $400 - $600 studios (when studios back home often start at "$1400" - which politicians call 'affordable' - and you got to pay for utilities and other shit on top).

My thoughts are a lot of these trust fund kids and people born with a golden spoon in their mouths can stick to college campuses. The festivals, party islands and other locales on this list should belong to people like us who didn't have the golden spoon in their mouth or parents to fund a trust fund party lifestyle in college. I think the frat houses and the college bars in their little college towns should be more than enough to keep them satisfied, like keep your adolescent drama and politics there.

I genuinely believe that the festivals, party islands and a lot of the fun locales in this list should be reserved for the people who didn't get to spend daddy's money in college and now want to spend their hard-earned cash to experience the occasional alcohol-fueled life.

A part of me does not get if they hype the American "college experience" up as being paradise on earth why these fuckers can't just stick to their college towns and then just stay there. No need to infest the finer islands at all.

I am making it a bucket list item to hit up all of these places in my late 20s and even my 30s. It is not the same as being the old man at a college house party, it just isn't, these college kids have no business being on those islands and nice getaways, stay in PCB, Destin, Cancun and your own towns.

Before anyone starts hyping up college girls, no thanks. Little Stacy can keep her drama in the sorority house, she can come to me after she has graduated.

This is beyond naive. Any of the "finer" European party islands are primarily middle class or wealthier kids. And lots and lots of rich kids, on some islands. Thats just life. Wealthy people party more, and travel more, than poor people.

If you go to the destinations with an older crowd (Mykonos or yacht week say) you'd better get used to being around trust fund kids, because the older/more expensive islands are absolutely filled with them.

If you go to any of the European destinations with a 17-21 age range you'll find more working class kids, but you'll stand out a mile if you go there in your late 20s or early 30s. And not in a good way. Imagine a 35 year old going to Cancun on Spring Break and you'll have the right impression - its a very similar environment, just even younger and messier.

As someone in this age range currently, I feel like I can provide a good perspective on this topic.

22-25

This is where it gets a bit interesting. Some cities have a lot of young professionals but younger men may not be in a position to do it right. NYC is a pretty good example of this. So, my recommendation from an American perspective is second tier cities. One ideally filled with a lot of young professionals in the same boat. Second tier cities do nicely for this like Stamford, Austin, Columbus... you get the idea. For a vacation, New Orleans is unbeatable as a younger guy American option. Harder to fit in the tourist environment there the way we'd want to when we're older.

In Asia, I actually think there's multiple places not being discussed. Taipei is the big one I recommend. Pretty much the best city in Asia to cash in younger guy value, as the girls here value that more than other places. Also incredibly convenient to live in, safe, rookie traveler friendly, and a lot of ESL opportunities to live there. Bangkok believe it or not I think is good too based on reputation. 35 million tourists a year, older value isn't what it used to be there. Another affordable city for younger people to settle in, supposedly more rookie traveler friendly for SEA, plus it has every type of girl you want with a looser dating vibe from what I hear. Then of course there's Bali, which attracts a lot of nomads and backpackers. Probably more friendly for the younger crowd. I don't know how attractive that area would be in your 30's.

Do you have any information or know where someone might go to get information on getting work in Asia? I've always wanted to go to Korea or Taiwan but my only hangup is that I would prefer to not teach English. I know for a fact you have foreigners from all walks of life in these countries, it's just a matter of information density. For every post or website on say working non-ESL in Asia, you have 10 about ESL or more.

This guy gets it. I'm 19 and all my friends go to the same shitty places - Magaluf, Zante and Ayia Napa for "lads holiday".

On the other hand I chose a different route and I went to Mexico by myself and had the time of my life. I actually went to Mexico because of this forum. Here are some reasons why Mexico is a good country to go whilst young.

1. Girls don't care about young age. I was even gaming MILF's who loved that I was so young, there is no stigma attached and you can be honest about how young you are there.

2. You will nearly never see travellers age 19-21 in Mexico City for example - so all of the teenage girls who want a foreign guy in that age will want to find out why such a young guy is there and their curiosity will be super high.

3. Mexico is the best Latin American country for beginners. I have never been to Colombia, Peru or Brazil yet - however from many sources I have heard that you will not face so many manipulative girls, danger or other issues as the latter.

4. The English level is good in most places. Again, if you are young and don't speak the language this is better.

5. It is cheap for everything except for flights if you're coming from Europe. I don't understand illogical people my age who say: "OMG it costs so much money to go to Mexico!" when they spend over £1k for a week in Ibiza... you don't have to go to Cancun. I spent a total amount of £1.7K for a whole month in Mexico living the good life, I'm talking papaya everyday for breakfast, buying people drinks in clubs etc.

So if you are young and reading this and think you should save Mexico for when you're older, I say go now if you're interested. Stop looking at your stupid university friends who are going on lads holidays cos they are spending more money than you think - plus the only way they are getting their dick wet is in a chlorinated swimming pool.

Haha you're woke my dude.
Although I do enjoy party vacations with the boys the bang for your buck is really bad compared to backpacking. Literally too lol.

I was planning to do a semester abroad next year and was eyeing with brazil, could you expand on your third point?
And where in mexico did you stay? Were you backpacking or staying in one place?

I wasn't backpacking, I was actually fortunate enough to meet a cool Chilango dude in Europe who let me stay at his house for free for 1 month (of course I helped pay the bills, food etc.). Not only did he live in a cool neighbourhood of Mexico City but he was a DJ - so he introduced me to his other DJ friends meaning I was partying every 2 days, free entrance, free alcohol and a plethora of connections to hot chicks.

I did however backpack in the Pacific Ocean but even I did not give off the impression of a backpacker.

If you want to do a semester abroad in Brazil I think its an amazing opportunity. By my third point I meant that Mexico is easy going, it can be a more safer place than Brazil and it is more similar to the culture of the USA - but still not the same. Brazil will be something completely different I'm assuming.

19 years old here. Currently living in Colombia and killin it here. I think if your looking for an immersive experience Colombia is great at a young age. Keep in mind I look a bit older, but with game and a good physique it doesnt matter how old you are.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

Honestly at that age you can do good anywhere since with your young age you'll also have the best opportunity to get younger girls. And if you're not broke like a lot of guys that age and actually have some money to travel and move around properly with good logistics you will be doing very good. But during that age it might be a idea to focus on places that will close off to you once you get older. A lot of the western world feels weird about age gaps so at your age having some place in the western world as your home base would be good and travel amongst different cities in that region. Trips to South America and Eastern Europe still would definitely be worthwhile though.

But how will you be traveling? How many months total are you looking to travel or will this be a many years type thing or your whole 18-25 years?

How many Islands are there like that? I doubt many and even if you did go as a 30 year old man, I doubt it would be that big of an issue unless you visibly stuck out with grey hair.

Yes, I get that the young kids with a golden spoon in their mouth have parents that fund their 4 year college vacation but I doubt that the best party resorts and the wildest ones in Europe are that bad for a 30 year old man, it is tough to believe.

I have a tough time believing that it is the same as Cancun in terms of age shaming given that Europe is more lax on it. There is absolutely a way a 30 year old with money and a lot of adrenaline and energy can enjoy the prime party spots in Europe that the trust fund kids inhabit and some dream of. I doubt there are even that many Islands in Europe itself that are a Panama City Beach or Cancun in terms of being reserved exclusively for younger people, this is tough for me to believe but others can chime in some more.

Quote: (11-25-2018 03:23 AM)forgottenowl Wrote:

I'm in this age range and hoping to travel everywhere but I'm thinking about where I should go in the next few years.

My question applies for both women and the entire travel experience.

Are there any countries where women go crazy over this age range? Countries where it's good to be this age to get the best social and night life experience? Where do you get the best value out of being young?

The answer depends on many things but chief among them, if you are on this forum, are probably general lifestyle, income/education potential, and women. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of those or if I left out anything major. The answer can also depend on your ethnic/national background as you can play to your exotic factor in several parts of the world if you are black for example but those same parts would be harder if you are white and vice versa.

When it comes to general lifestyle, I'd say that it heavily depends (given your age and my assumption that you don't have a trust fund or something - again correct me if I'm wrong) on whether you can communicate with local people well enough to make a circle of about 5-6 friends whom you can spend most of your free time with as well as pursue educational and job/career opportunities as they present themselves. If you don't already know the local language well enough, be sure to choose a country where you are willing to learn it and make that a top priority right out of the gate.

As for women, the more developed and rich the country is, the more difficulty you are probably going to have here. Not because the women themselves are harder (they are not) but because it will ultimately cost you a lot more in financial terms to get them because everything in those countries costs more (including when you get stood up and have to eat the cost of a taxi ride or something). Another thing to consider is whether or not girls in the country or countries that you are looking into normally live with their parents and have curfews. This is not always a major issue but it can be so it's something to be aware of.

Personally, I spent the period of my life between age 18 and 22 mainly in the Philippines as that is where I did all of my university studies. It was a great place to enter into adulthood but you could replicate much of my experience in another developing country like Rwanda or Cabo Verde as well so don't think you have to do it exactly like I did.

If you are looking to study in another country as well for university or some sort of trade, I recommend finding a cheap country where you will not need to take out massive student loans and look into whether or not you can work on a student visa as many countries allow this and it can be a great way to pay your way through school while also honing your language skills and making local connections. If the country's education system is in English, you're good. If not, many countries (especially those that take in a lot of foreign students like Ukraine) have 1-2 year language programs that you can enroll in before starting regular university classes so that your language skills are up to standard before you start.

As far as general lifestyle is concerned, I would suggest finding a place where you can realistically afford to get your own apartment if that is possible. This is what I did and I was living on only $300-400 USD per month at the time. If you cannot do that from the start, just get a room in a shared house or dorm (done that too) until you have saved enough to pay the deposit on an apartment.

Another thing to consider is the part of the country that you are in. Speaking from my experience, Metro Manila was about twice as expensive as Cebu City and, one you left Cebu City, prices plummeted. What this means is that you do not necessarily have to live in the capital or an expensive city in your new country and you can live in a smaller and possibly more interesting city instead. Your exotic factor can also go up by doing this while costs and crime rates usually go down.

I hope this is helpful and, if you let me know your budget, ethnic/national background, languages you speak, and what you want to study, I can advise you further if you like.

What countries/cities are the best to experience while very young? (18-25)

Given that I grew up poor and could not afford the same lifestyle trust fund kids could and have spent a good bit of my 20s trying to save enough I wanted to ask more about the same locations if you look younger than your age and are younger in terms of mindset too.

I really want to go to the foam party type of places and the places in Europe where the party scene is really wild and off the maps, consists of people not able to hold their alcohol since I obviously missed out on that in college (campus was real dry and lame).

How would it be for someone who is 30 but looks younger and wants to have those experiences for the first time? Americans can't really party that hard compared to Europeans in my experience anyways.

Would it just be beneficial to lie your ass off about age and deflect as much as possible?

Are there rules in Europe at foam parties and some of the wilder party scenes towards restricting someone above a certain age from entering?

I might be one of the few guys who is older but relates more to the hooligan crazy party scene as opposed to the lame wine sipping garbage where people suit up to go to bars. Definitely too old to be around college kids in the US but the rules must obviously be more relaxed in Europe compared to Panama City Beach and Cancun.

This is what I got from your post:

- I grew up poor
- I struggled in my 20s
- I'm 30 but I think I look younger than my age
- I'm 30 I want to party but I think i'm too old
- I'm insecure about my age, and should I lie about it.
- Comparing the American and European party scene with a lack of experience.

Dude... you need to chill. You overthink and over-analyze everything way too much. Your 30 and you can do whatever the fuck you wanna do. You need to grow a pair of balls and just do whatever. You can go party with young kids, and if they feel your vibe they'll probably be cool with you.

I knew a 40+ year old guy at a condo I worked in. He was chillen with people half his age because of his vibe. I'm 29 years old and I got along with him pretty fine. Me and him smoked a joint together at work. He still parties like he was in his 20's,but he has a family now so he's much more laid back.

You care way too much about what other people think about you. All these unwritten rules in your head, man what's wrong with you. It's like your putting up barriers in your mind and projecting them out into the world. Your stuck inside your head, chill. You can party with 18 years olds, and tell people straight up I do what I feel. You don't need to give an explanations to anybody.

It's your life. Start writing the rules, and live how you wanna live. Period.

You need to lose the bitterness if you want to succeed. I had less then those around me when I was a kid and I'm just starting to do better for myself now but wtf man most of your posts are complaining about trust fund kids and how you didn't get to have the same experience. You come off as a middle class or maybe lower middle class person forever bitter that some people got to live a better life then you. If you want to have fun forget about other people and just focus on your own enjoyment. If I want to have fun then I stay in the present nothing else should matter, if I'm doing better financially now then fuck those times when I was broke I'm goona have fun now. I'm in my early 20s with this mentality I know you're older in your 30s but still if you had this mentality earlier who knows how much time you would have saved yourself? And how much fun you could have had throughout your 20s. Lose that bitterness.

What countries/cities are the best to experience while very young? (18-25)

I'll admit I am bitter but not in my 30s yet, in my 20s and still trying to save for another year or so. My bitterness and anxiety is over the fact that once I do have enough money to spend and throw around, the social norms and a mixture of things will make it impossible for me to experience the parties on these sorts of islands compared to a kid who was born with a golden spoon in his mouth and experienced them in high school or college.

It irritates me to know that for guys like me who peaked later financially and had to fund their own lifestyle instead of partying on daddy's money, certain doors and destinations in the world are closed off because we decided to actually work on finances and avoiding debt.

Always seems like life is trying to close doors for guys like us who hit their peak a bit later in life and cannot have our alcohol fueled rage party because we got rich at 28 as opposed to being born rich. How some doors like an alcohol fueled party at a Greek Island where everyone is wasted out of their fucking minds are closed because we actually had to put in the work to fund our fun instead of having rich parents do it.

It leaves me with one too many questions, where others in my type of situation whose parents didn't fund a 4 year party in college but still have that pent up aspiration of wanting those parties and alcohol fueled ragers must be going.

But really I am just sour and bitter as someone who had aspirations of partying hard in Europe but is coming to find that the Greek Islands and wild spots in Europe are also monopolized by spoiled kids having everything handed to them in life.

What countries/cities are the best to experience while very young? (18-25)

Quote: (12-14-2018 01:23 PM)a beer is enough Wrote:

I can't 100% understand where you're coming from, but I'll try to compare it as best I can. I'm a little younger than you and can understand feeling like you got a later start than others. For me, I saw guys around me in high school and college that were naturally good with women walking into that environment, where it really took me until midway through college to start getting any kind of results. I'm not going to lie, back then I was pretty bitter towards the "popular" dudes in high school. It wasn't a good look in hindsight, and probably further alienated me from others than I already was.

Luckily, they weren't people I really needed so it did no long term damage, but it did teach me an interesting life lesson in that bitterness and anxiety can lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy. Those two things are not easy emotions to manage and I think we all mildly go through situations where those get the best of us to this day, but I believe this forum is a good tool for giving guys like us motivation to leave those feelings in the past and work towards a better future.

I'll give you an example. Back in high school and college, the big deals were prom and frat parties. I skipped my prom in high school and it took me a long time, probably until very late in the game, to start going to house parties in college. There were plenty of dudes that got laid on nights like that just for simply being in the right place at the right time. I had limited experiences by the time college was over and there were definitely dudes ahead of me in experience and success with women.

But, after that I started gaining more and more information about the world around me and found sites like this. It made me realize that places like college campuses and spring break destinations were just a bubble that stretched to a wider area than our first 18 years. The real freedom was going all over the world. At the time, a lot of guys in my local area that were older looked back at college as the most wild time of their lives or perhaps their best. It made me realize that a lot of these dudes peaked then. It was then and reading stories about guys going all over the world having success decades after college that I decided I wanted more for myself, and was going to try to leave the past in the past.

While those same guys slipped right into corporate jobs or were stuck in a dead end job, I saved my money, flew over to Asia, and had the college experience over there and a lot more that I never had at home. Probably passed a decent amount of local dudes in notch count after that while discovering a whole new world.

Another example, in NYC I go to sit-down places once in a while or laid back bars and clubs for the atmosphere and chill music. Do you know the guys who I see with the best women in the sexiest dresses with great features at those places? The late 30's and early 40's guys that don't talk about college or hammered out spring breaks like it was the best thing that ever happened to them. There's guys like that on this forum doing the same.

The point is that yes, guys like you and me may have missed our opportunities in college or pure spring break spots. But, there's still plenty of other roads to go down for women that are arguably better and at the same time ones less traveled by your average man. I don't know about you, but I for one intend to go down that road and make my own way, rather than living on a spring break that I would probably barely remember.

As far back as I could remember, I always wanted to be a player.

That is a pretty great post yankeetravels, and I agree that long-term, the best success will be found by breaking out of traditional barriers and exploring YOUR way. Still, I can relate to the desire to do a traditional party trip (Europe, spring break, etc), just to say that you've done it and had your experience.

Beer, I would take a really suggest reading this forum thread by DigitalNomad. One of my favorite threads here. He travels all around the world partying and banging chicks in lots of traditional party spots despite not being some trust fund kid and is in his late 20s/early30s. I haven't met him, but other posters have, and have verified that he is not bullshitting. That thread has served as an inspiration for myself to work on building a location independent income, so that I have the option to travel when I want to (even if I don't travel for as long of periods).

Even if you don't end up having quite as much success, reading that thread should dissuade your worries that just because you're older than 24 (god forbid!) you can't have fun in Europe. Just have to have the right attitude and go to the right spots.

Thank you for the insight guys but I think my post was misunderstood. Its not really that much about women or pussy, in recent years that has worried me slightly less in terms of age than the other aspect I was getting at.

It is about having that feeling of being in a high energy adrenaline and alcohol fueled party with lots of other vibrant energetic people having fun with the loud music. It is about being near that energetic crowd of people having the time of their lives to loud music playing hard and oceans of alcohol being consumed. I think everyone misunderstood what I was getting at, its not just about the casual sex itself.

What makes me bitter with age is the energy of some of these bars and clubs, its not good enough. I barf at the idea of going to sit down lounges where being loud gets people looking at you weird and long for trips to islands and party destinations where being loud, crazy and living out that high energy of youth gets everyone going. I missed that in college and it makes me bitter of the idea that my clock is ticking to experience that.

Its about the energy and vibe and the excessive consumption of alcohol, I missed that in my youth and want to make up for it before I truly do get too old to make for it. I want to be around that kind of a vibe and that sort of a crowd but it seems as if these sorts of islands in Europe are closed off to men over the age of 25.

Unless there is some legal statement saying men over a certain age are not allowed on these Greek Islands or parts of Ibiza, I am strong considering to go there myself. If need be, just lie about the age and all when people asked. I am strongly lacking that in my life right now and want to go on my journey of getting it out of the system before I hit 30 and its too late.

The lounges and sit down bars where people dress GQ and sip wine have always annoyed me tbh.

Beer, you're starting from the assumption that your age is a negative. My travel experience is limited compared to some other posters on the forum but I actually found being late 20s with disposable income to be advantageous in party destinations. My experience is backpacking solo around Europe for six weeks and doing a spring break trip to an all-inclusive resort. Both trips I was between the ages of 26-30. I never lied about my age and I don't think it ever worked against me.

The girls are in vacation mode. Most just want to meet a high value man to hook up. You're only going to be asked your age if they are trying to disqualify you. If you're asked your age that means there's something about you the girl doesn't like. And that's fine. Some girls won't like you. But if the girl you're chatting up at the bar in Ibiza is attracted to you, your age won't come up.

I don't see why other guys would ask you your age. I also don't see why you should care if other guys think you're too old to be there.

At the end of the day go there if that's what you want and have a good time. If you're hung up on "societal norms" and your age, girls will pick up on your insecurities. Your age will only limit you if you let it.

And no, there is no legal statement that men over a certain age are not allowed on the Greek Islands or Ibiza.

Wow, your posts are even starting to make me feel old. I’m almost 28, and get way more attention now than I ever did as a college aged boy, including on party islands. I even scored a hat trick (3 girls in 3 nights) on Koh Phangan, which is known for being the ultimate young persons party. Your age won’t hold you back in your late 20s and early 30s, only your attitude will. Hell, you even said you look younger so what’s the issue here?

The Greek Islands, and especially Mykonos, are known for having people of all ages party on them. How many young kids do you think can actually afford an island as expensive as Mykonos in the party season? I think you greatly overestimate how many “trust fund babies” there are out there with parents willing to pay for them to drink booze and bang sluts all day long.

Your age is not an issue. Your attitude is. If anything, you should be more attractive as you approach 30, and if you still have the energy and ambition like you say you do, then there’s nothing holding you back.

Maybe there is something I am not understanding here or something I am wanting that is unusual for a guy perhaps but why does it always have to be about the pussy? I am a little confused even as a guy who hates the "don't put pussy on the pedestal" crowd.

I'll try to explain my desire one more time and hope maybe someone gets what I am getting at. I am not wanting to go to these destinations mentioned on the thread to just get pussy, I am trying to go there because I missed out on the alcohol fueled ragers, awesome parties and even a chance to make friends who engage in that sort a lifestyle when I was 18-22.

Maybe it is because my situation was rare but where I was at in the 18-21 age range, it was really only the frat guys and rich kids who were having that kind of a life. A lot of kids I knew were trying hard to put themselves through college and didn't have as much time or money to get wasted hard in college. Unusual situation maybe, perhaps that is what it is.

I am actually trying to go to these places to experience the party fueled lifestyle, crazy antics and all the alcohol rage that I did not get to experience in my youth. TBH I could give less fucks if I don't get laid, that be great, I just want my wild party stories with loud music and oceans of alcohol involved.

Its just that my anxiety was by the time I can afford to put myself through that, my age will stop me from legally enjoying it or being a part of it all. How unusual and weird it would be to try and experience that at the age of 30, I mean even this forum itself looks down on men over the age of 30 sleeping around and partying hard these days so I cannot imagine how rough it would be to do it in the real world and not have your life ruined.

I just want to get it all out of my system before I turn 30 and life goes downhill in terms of fun, excitement and story worthy experiences for most men.
