The 'Oumuaua asteroid that came through the solar system last month looked soooo much like an alien probe! Ridiculous that nobody in authority is willing to even look at the evidence.

- Came from another star as just happened to zip right past the Sun in such a way as to accelerate

- Changed course -- speeded up -- consistent with solar sail

- Long and skinny, like a tube

- Stopped rotating on the way away from the sun

It's probably just an asteroid shaped like a turd. They couldn't find any radio signals coming off it, and it's unlikely a probe would be that massive. Plus it's speed means it came from Vega 300k years ago, I assume aliens wouldn't want to wait that long for their probe to return data and would have instead pushed it with a laser so that it'd be tearing through our system at like 0.2c

Because it wasn't intended to transmit anything, it was only listening. Passive sensors. Just like the US Navy on its subs when they run silent.

So this much we know - aliens with more advanced technology now know about us. There are two possibilities:

1) We are all fucked.

2) This alien civilization will take down the Elite as Simeon has been predicting.

When one considers the sheer amount of radio, TV & internet signals that have been inadvertently broadcast into the cosmos.

Everything from cheesy 1960's Batman to trashy 1980's pop music clips to all the random crap on the internet today...

I think it would be the total opposite. Alien civilization would be fascinated by our trash TV. What else would they want? They're likely to have an abundance of any physical objects.

My personal theory on the Fermi paradox is this. Long before gaining the ability to do interstellar travel, intelligent life gains the ability to accurately simulate what may be out there. Since it's so much easier to do that rather than travel, they just don't bother. They just procedurally simulate the universe - and guess what - in an infinitely large universe, whatever you simulate is out there somewhere anyway. No need to travel.

The human race will do the same. Rather than build a starship and send cryo-frozen astronauts on a 100,000 year journey, we're just going to upload our brains to a sim and have the experience of it a million times without the fuss. As your brain experiences the joy of conquering Vega, you won't even hear the call of the muezzin next to the warehouse where you're stacked.
