Then again, you did say this:

Running around and chasing girls and getting results from that is what i enjoy the most. I don't mind putting in effort. I like to play the game. It clears my head.

I also like to fuck the same girl on a few different occasions and, not 'THAT' interested in providing another ride on the carousel for girls ''ordered'' from online apps to show up at my door. (Like MINI-girlfriends)

TL;DR - Which city in Asia is best if you don't do online?

I'd say Saigon would be your best bet for a quality mini relationship. But if its your first time traveling the region, it's not the easiest city to start your SEA journey in.

If you have enough time, I'd spend at least a week in Bangkok first, then go to Saigon.

In what way is Saigon harder than Bangkok?

- Saigon has less English penetration and a bigger language barrier than Bangkok. Mass tourism has been ongoing in Bangkok for way longer than Saigon, and the English language ability of the average person has gone up because of it.

- Bangkok has a way more convenient transportation and logistics system than Saigon.

- Even though nightlife can be great in both cities, Bangkok has more options and it's more easily accessible.

- More scams / crime in Saigon compared to Bangkok, although this depends on what areas you venture into of course.

- Although both cities / countries have their fair share of sluts, Vietnamese girls are harder compared to Thai girls. They are however also more attractive to me, but that's very much a personal preference. If you have game, you'll pull in both cities though.

- Bangkok is just all around more convenient in almost all areas. I'm not saying all of the less convenient aspects of Saigon are impossible to navigate around, but it'll become easier with some more SEA travel experience under your belt.

Having said all that, I must say that Saigon has been making giant steps these last couple years. The city is developing and closing the "convenience gap", if you will, with a city like Bangkok. But it's not quite there yet.

Then again, we define "convenience" from a Western perspective. With more convenience, more Western concepts also get introduced to a city / country. This isn't always a good thing. But this is going off topic a bit, I hope I answered your question as to why I think Bangkok is better for the first time SEA traveler.

As a fellow scandinavian, I'll share my experience from SEA

I've been to Vietnam and Thailand

Between the two I'd definitely go for Vietnam, specifically Saigon.
It's getting a lot of shit on here, but I had a blast there for 10 days, the rest of Vietnam especially Hanoi is rubbish in my opinion.

Get a nice Hotel for around 10-20 bucks a night in district 1. Stay close to the roundabout at ly tu trong where there's a starbucks.. Avoid the backpacker district.

This area is super cool, plenty of descent hotels and lots of local talent at the starbucks - great way to start off any day. It's also not far from the Chill Sky Bar which has a nice blend of locals and tourists. Amazing place with a great view over the city. Also check out allez boo if it's still there. I bought an ancient Honda and drove to Hanoi, but Saigon was by far the best experience I had in VN, had zero problems getting pussy from either local girls or scandi chicks.

4 bangs in 10 days, without really working too hard.. Maybe I got lucky..

Sure they're a bunch of hustlers, and the language barrier can be a bit annoying, but even with minimal effort you'll be fine. The thing is, they don't mind it as long as you put out a cool vibe. Use kino as a way to lead, they love it.. Also met a french dude and an senior Aussie, great times shooting the shit with random people.. Lot's of solo travellers to have a good days fun with.

Plenty of stuff to to do in Saigon, the markets are crazy, always fun to bargain down things to less than half price, the war museum is something special, it's cheap in general, and small things such as crossing a busy road for the first time and shooting the shit with random people, getting numbers from daygame is fun and easy for a first time traveler, maybe the White God Factor worked in my favor..

Thailand is something you have to see just for the sheer craziness of the streets and sex culture, but I wouldn't go back - ever. Around 90% (I'd estimate) of the girls are pros - granted there's some in sagion too, but nowhere near as many as in any major city in Thailand. I really hated the fact that finding girls to game naturally was do damn hard.. Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but it really ruined my mood when I was there.. Didn't meet a single girl in Thailand who was interested in anything else than money. This goes for Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket. Chang Mai is probably your best bet here..

The ladyboy factor is also a huge thing when it comes to picking between for instance The Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Can't remember a single encounter in Saigon.

Only other place I'd recommend in VN is Nha Trang if you don't mind the russian influence. If you end up here, Sailing Club is a must, I almost pulled a threesome with two russian chicks using google translate..

Damn I had a blast in VN [Image: biggrin.gif]

I spend about 1k more per month in Tokyo than I did in Bangkok. The main difference is rent.

PM me for accommodation options in Bangkok.

I would 100% go to Saigon Vietnam. Way better than Bkk. Bangkok is overplayed, full of jackass backpackers and hookers. It's too expensive for what a dump it is, and foreigner factor is so low. Saigon is more exciting and has way more things to do. The girls are hotter and the visas are a lot easier. Skip Bangkok and go to Saigon is my tip.

This is the 'what i want to hear' answer, because that's exactly what i thought.

What are some cool things to do in Vietnam other than talk to chicks, lift and eat?

If you got the balls/is stupid enough, get a motorcycle and take a ride to Nha Trang with a night over in Da Lat.. PM me for all info on making it there safe and sound.. Should take you a couple of days. It's fucking terrifying, but the views and the experience is 100% worth it. You'll arrive as a different man in Nha Trang.. I would say, buy the bike, and sell it once you dont want it anymore. You'll might lose a couple hundres bucks, but man.. You'll never regret it..

Otherwise, stay in Saigon. It's chill and vibrant.. You'll find plenty to do there if you're the sort of guy who's not afraid to interact with people..

I would recommend starting in Thailand and from there you can take a cheap flight with air Asia or any other discount airline to pretty much any country in SEA for $100 or less. Thailand is a good place to start because most people there speak enough English to the point where it is not a burden communicating and the currency conversion rate is pretty simple. I wouldn’t spend too much time in Bangkok, it can get old really fast. The islands are awesome. Phuket is fun, Krabi is beautiful and lots to do there, Kohl’s Samui is good if you’re young and like to party. If you’re in Bangkok and don’t feel like flying, Hua Hin is a few hours away by taxi and Pattaya is an hour away by taxi. You can get a basic hotel pretty much anywhere in Thailand for $30 a night with A/C

How is the public transportation (metro/skytrain) coming along in Saigon?

That was really my only gripe with the city. Difficult to get around. That and the lack of western healthcare inside the main districts.

Check out Cebu city in the Philippines , its like a mini manila but with more things to do . There's some nice beaches and islands near by. You could use it as a base to do day trips out etc.

Yeah, easy jump-off to a lot of stuff like adventure parks (Argao - Coal Mopuntain), safari (Danao Adventure Park), canyoneering (Kawasan), diving (Moalboal), resorts (Lambug), mountaintop (Busay). An endless amount of things to do really if you are an outdoor person.

Could stay at Quest or Waterfront for a week or 2. Or get a cheap airbnb at IT Park, Ayala, Mabolo, etc.

The girls are hit or miss. I personally think they look like indigenous women with caked on makeup/bleached skin along with a frightening case borderline personality disorder.

Maine and Canadian lobsters are the same animal. Prove me wrong.

I'm heading to Thailand soon as my first trip to SEA. Also visiting Cambodia to do some sightseeing. I have to go home for Christmas but after that, I may return to check out Vietnam. Valuable stuff in this thread, so thank you everyone. I've done about 4-5 years in Europe (mostly E.E.) and am ready for a new adventure.

Which SEAsian country is best to visit first?

I am planning on doing a trip around December for about 3 weeks. My plan is to do Thailand for 10 days, Cambodia for 4 days, Vietnam for 7 days.

1. Does this sound like a good allocation of time?

2. My plan was to go California -> BKK -> Other Thai Cities -> Cambodia (Angkor Wat) -> Saigon/Ho Chi Min -> California. I was thinking of going by land between BKK and Saigon, but does it make more sense to just get cheap flights?

3. What kind of bankroll would be good for this length of stay, assuming I want decent rentals that I would be okay bringing back girls to?

4. Pipelining necessary or not?

I'm in BKK right now. First Asia trip, came on a whim and was influenced by this thread. Scouting city for possible extended trip next year. I will give a summary of my thoughts next week when I return to the states. Anyone on the fence... I don't think it matters which city you go to. It's hard to wrap your brain around Asia until you are here. Also there is a lot of outdated information on RVF about BKK, so don't spend too much time researching. Just pick a city and go for it.

Any RVF members in BKK, send me a pm, let's meet up
