Approaching when you barely speak the language

I'm going to start my 100 approaches tomorrow, but am a bit concerned how to consistently and effectively talk with girls when I am still at a beginner level in the local language. Spoken English ability is surprisingly low where I live, though there are girls who speak it.

Any thoughts or advice?

There are expat bars I could hit up, but I'm not trying to talk only to expats and expat-hunters. I also want to improve my sober, day game. I am learning the language, but am still a couple months away from being able to converse decently. This is the first time I've faced this issue.

I guess you have to focus more on learning the language then

I’m in a major, second-tier, southwest Chinese city. Language is Mandarin. Best bet is probably just going to be putting a lot more time upfront learning the language. Planning on focusing on social game for now, where it’s easier to find girls who speak decent English, or night game where language matters less, until my Mandarin improves.

Check out some of Bill Cosby's stuff.

He was the master of non-verbal pickup.

The girls he banged hardly needed much convincing after the first drink.

I don't know about Chinese girls, but speaking for experience with Latinas (in Mexico specifically) I was able to get by with my broken Spanish doing night game in college. Being a great dancer really helped with this. I'd get the women moving and feeling on me, and usually it was just about leading them along afterwards. I learned a few quick phrases and memorized a few DHVs.

My suggestion would be a language exchange. When I really wanted to focus on improving my Spanish, I went to one and surprisingly the girls were pretty cute. I ended up sleeping with two of them over the course of 4 months while I was there, and as a result my Spanish improved to near fluency.

In China, I would imagine that something more domestic like that would beat nightgame.

That tip on language exchange is a good one. Make it easy on yourself.

IMO, unless/until you're close to fluent in the language, you're better off gaming in English. You preserve higher value, and better let them sound like a 5 year old than sound retarded yourself.

Be sure to give them time/space to register you're speaking English too. Sounds stupid, but it could be too overwhelming otherwise. They might not have spoken English since school. Just give them a chance.

I agree, goto a language exchange. With roughly 1 year in Colombia, I could maybe say only one sentence my first week but after maybe 4-5 months of language exchanges and practicing with uber drivers, I got pretty good at speaking broken spanish. Even though its not perfect. It + google translate make pickup in spanish MUCH MUCH more easier.. But I also recommend it so you can learn the local language and so you can also just socialize and feel good. I find apps useless honestly.
