Need a tan

Been a busy summer and I didn't get any sun. Was working out today at the gym when I noticed I am pretty damn white (and I have Mediterranean blood too). Now that summer is ending I've missed my chance to get some color in my skin. I don't want to hit a tanning booth, but I don't see any other way to get some color in my skin for the winter months. What do you guys think?

If you've got a predisposition for tan already (Mediterranean) Just make a point to go outside in a wifebeater on a sunny day and just piss off for about 2 hours. I work inside and had the same problem. About three times this year I just sat out on my deck while grilling and sat in the sun for at least an hour.

You've got a few weeks left, make sure you're getting outside a few days a week for a few hours during the peak time (11-2). If you can't do that, well you're SOL without alternate methods... which I don't personally condone. To each his own.

Thanks for the suggestions.
The down side of making serious cash is I'm at work from sun up to sun down.
Looks like I'm fucked for winter.

I don't get it. You are motivated enough to hit the gym and to work long hours for money. So why don't you want spend time in a tanning booth? It's a simple solution.

There are studies that show it's not unhealthy if you do it in moderation.

Seriously do you think girls give a shit if you have a tan or not?

Never met a girl who commented on my skin color/tone.

You mentioned you're a pretty good looking guy. Some of us average guys look much better with a tan (myself included). I can understand why guys would want it.

That said, I don't really worry about it during the winter, but I like looking my best.

Maybe this is a cultural thing. I live in New England.

Being white is normal around here. [Image: icon_lol.gif]

Lmao I bet you're right. I'd probably stick out if I popped up in a city over there. I don't see to many pale white girls and boys now that I think about it.

I most definitely look better with a tan....noticeably better because I'm Mediterranean. I can pull a lot more ass when my skin is olive-toned instead of this white complexion I've recently taken on (from lack of sun). I'm very reluctant to use a tanning booth for the reasons Gmac mentioned: health and sanitation. I prefer to do everything naturally as much as possible, but might give a tanning bed a shot a couple times to help since I'm working so many hours right now. Thanks for the suggestions.

I did not want to start a new thread but I am in the same boat. I prefer my summer tones I look sick (IMO) in the winter with that light skin. I woke up today and after a 3 days of partying and 2 weeks of fucked up sleep I look like a dog. The sun is gone in the prairies now and its deeply cold compared to Toronto so I need to hit a tanning bed, never had in my life and being a brother its going to be interesting how this all goes. Mini Sheet when I get back lol.

There's no doubt. Especially guys of European descent with dark hair but fair skin looking pale makes you look like a Renaissance prince. That might've worked when everybody powdered up, but goddammit it's unattractive these days. Looks downright unhealthy.

At the same time, too much sun-exposure ages your skin.

I also have way more moles then I used to because of a few sunburns down by the equator. I look like a Dalmatian.

So, what's the golden ratio?

I've never been indoor tanning, like Smitty said, it sounds unsanitary. Can anybody with experience confirm or deny this? Are they all tanning beds or do they have ones where you just stand there?

Yeah, I've held off tanning to avoid prematurely aging my skin. I get a few minutes here and there, and occasionally an hour without sunscreen, so I'm not extremely pale. But I generally avoid the sun or slather on high SPF sunscreen. I recommend No-Ad sunscreen, best and cheapest sunscreen I've ever used.

Tanning causes moles?

Ha, one year later and I'm facing the same fucking problem: tan or no tan. Last year I skipped it and stayed white throughout the year.

I definitely have a tendency to develop moles. In addition, I've had a lot of sun-exposure in my teens and early 20's that has defnitely exacerbated the "problem", but none of the moles seem dangerous. I'm just a spotty dude.

My sister has the exact same skin type as I do, and she spent her time at the library with her ugly friends. She has a fraction of the moles I do. And a way better GPA, lol!

Anyways, it's not such a big deal now, but I hope I don't get too many more moles. This could end up being a big problem for me when I hit 50.
