There's another problem for this Black Widow movie.
T'would seem this Jennifer Lawrence 'Red Sparrow' movie is a quasi Black Widow origin story, minus the Marvel / Avengers elements.
As in, more realistic & not so family friendly.

So Marvel was beaten to the punch with Wonder Woman & now again with Red Sparrow.

Now, I am fully confidant that Marvel can pull a rabbit out of a hat and make a great movie. Let's be real - how many of us heard of "Guardians Of The Galaxy" before the film, and it managed to become a huge part of the marvel film franchise. It can be done

However, I am 99% certain it wont happen here. Why?

1. Superhero fatigue

2. Predictability of "capeshit" movies.

3. Pressure to create a "perfect" female film character (by perfect I mean not flawed, aka a Mary Sue, aka Rey from Star Wars)

4. most importantly- a VILLAIN. Yes, a bad guy. Someone please name me a standalone Black Widow villain without going to google.


With a wealth of original material, there is plenty of creative directions Marvel can choose to go when adapting their characters to the screen. I feel like they did a fantastic job with their Netflix series, especially Punisher (Watch it if you havent already!!! its great).
And they are even departing from classic comic book storylines (Venom movie, for example, will come out late 2018 but seemingly without the massive tie-in to the Spiderman universe, which is understandable because the current Spiderman is 12).

Now is the time to take more creative risks... but do you HONESTLY expect someone to take a RISK with a female led movie? No, it will be by the books, and it will fail

The reason why Wonder Woman was not a feminist disaster was because Gal Gadot is a normal balanced happily married woman who enjoys and cherishes men:

The Wonder Woman movie was likely saved by Gal Gadot's femininity, a few scenes where she showed her love for children and cute things (wanting to cuddle a baby) and her high attraction and love for the male hero of the movie - a guy who has no superpowers vs a woman who can lift a tank. And she still let him be the man.

I seriously doubt that the Black Widow will be anything but a shitfest against the patriarchy, making the women look fantastic while the men are bumbling idiots.

That is a very high number, but according to Daily Mail‘s sources, Disney believes that the Black Widow solo film will outperform even Wonder Woman. Johansson is also reportedly working to get producer credit.

I am sure that this will go down well - Jac Schaeffer has produced ZERO HITS, but gets paired with a feminazi who gets paid 10 times more than him and even supposedly crafts the script.
