Yeah, Abuja is pretty bad for social activities. You can meet regular girls at lounges, but regular clubs would almost certainly be hookers. Not even good looking hookers.

Relatively beautiful city, but severely lacking in the social scene.

In places like Abuja, you have to run game in a very different way. e.g some of the nicest looking regular girls in Abuja typically work as bank tellers and at the telecom outlets.

Going to such places, scoping out the talent, making "inquiries" and getting their number is one way to do it.
If they sense or know you're from the West, they'll be even more willing to give you the number (no one likes "foreign" men like Nigerian girls).
As long as you ask for it in a discreet manner. She ain't trying to get fired after all.

I absolutely agree with you, I actually had success in malls in Africa even though it's not my type of game, but decent girls hunting for white guys actually go there to get hit on. They actually expose themselves too obviously, sit next to you so you can open them, even approached me couple times... Then there are the workers too.

Use the search function guys, I wrote a datasheet on Kigali a couple of years ago and there is definitly information to be found on Africa. If I'm not mistaken there is even an Africa masterthread.

I'm in the exact same boat with the Halle Berry type. In the other thread one guy mentioned South Africa which makes a lot of sense with the large number of whites in the country. But I would assume the degree of difficulty is going to be a good amount harder.

Internet speeds were not that good when I was there several years ago, but I heard they improved so it might be an option. Accommodation for long term is not that expensive compared to other african countries, well depends what you are used to, but you should find a decent place for around 500-600$ a month. The problem is that there are not many short time options and the hotels are expensive. Your best bet would be finding the kigali expat group on fb and ask around there. Expat community is quite small, but not too small. So you will basically get to meet most guys but there is a high turnover so always new people coming in, I'd say it's quite pleasant. There are a few decent supermarkets, but don't expect too much.

You can get around everywhere in the city with moto taxis or normal taxis. They are cheap. If you wanna go visit other areas in the country you will need a 4x4 car, which is very expensive there.

I already called you out on the Cameroon thread, but your statement about widely available fast internet is absolute nonsense.

More often than not, 4G is limited to specific areas, for example the very city center of the capital. Downgrades to 3G or even Edge happen on the regular as soon as one moves two blocks from the main square. I've been on more than one capital airports that had no signal at all. In several African countries I've been, it takes half a minute to open a RVF thread on mobile, or even longer.

I have friends from multiple countries who aren't connected for a few days because the government shut down mobile internet, usually during elections or protests.

Africans overpromise and underdeliver, and cellular network is no exception.

But of course some countries are a bit more developed than others.

Internet in DRC is currently offline, except if you have fiber and this because of elections. Fiber is supposed to be fast, but it costs tons of money to connect yourself if there isn't a cable around and then a few 100 usd a month. My 3G is almost always H+. 60 pct of the time, I pay 100 usd for 125 GB, valid for two months. It's decent and I can download movies in 2 hours or so. The rest of the time it can be slow to very slow and every few weeks there will be one or two days where it barely or not works. This is because locals cut in the fibre cables etc etc.

Internet was super slow when I lived in Pointe-Noire, Congo-Brazzaville. Even with 300 usd/month internet I could barely watch youtube videos. I heard the internet is still slow there, but I'm sure it must be faster than a few years back.

Internet in South-Africa is decent if I remember correctly.

I don't really recall other African countries and most of the time I would be in the bush/desert/savannah/some isolated lodge without internet anyway.

Thanks for the information. I need decent internet daily for my work, so I guess I'd skip Kigali. What about other African cities? ( I'm just looking for a place with a stable internet connection and it need to be on the cheap side + decent accomodation. Acra, Kampala or Nairobi would be a better fit?)

South-Africa is rather cheap (at least compared to where I live) and I suppose it has good internet. Johannesburg or Cape Town could be interesting. You could look into the internet speed of Lusaka and Windhoek as well. Kampala is said to be a nice city, but no idea about the internet. I had friends who wanted to settle in Nairobi and they found it rather unsafe. He has been to like 170 countries or so, so that says a lot. But they might just have had some bad luck. If I had to choose any of the above, not taking internet in mind, I'd go to Kampala.

Safety is all relative and a matter of luck as well. I like being in the bush in SA, but for instance the garden route and Cape Town are too European for me, even though it's beautiful. I haven't seen J-Burg, just landed there a few times, that's it.

Kenya is the fastest on the list, followed by SA. But that might not automatically mean other companies are slower than Kenya's, you might have a smaller, more expensive one as well. Just an assumption, btw. We're getting very off-topic.

The ugandan government introduced a social media tax (or OTT tax) last year. For westerners the tax is negligible but if you don't pay, access to around 50 social media platforms and chat apps, from whatsapp to kakaotalk or unknown apps such as drupe is blocked. Same applies to some VPN's.

Every sim cards requires passport registration.

Internet speed is mostly below 10 Mbit/s if on 4G, but downgrades to 3G are very frequent even in city center Kampala. 3G is good enough to text and open very simple websites but for youtube it's useless.

Political situation is less stable now and violent protests happened last year. I have no doubt the government will shut down all mobile internet in order to make protests more difficult to organise.


Other than that, it's hard for me to believe anyone who says Kampala is nice. It's a shithole even for african standards.
Zero public transportation, crazy traffic jams, very bad air pollution due to trucks, motorbikes and cooking with coal, slow internet, no public parks, corruption, almost no sightseeings...the list is endless.
Any ukrainian industrial shithole city or even Suburbs of Jakarta or Manila appear to become paradise on earth in comparison to Kampala. But that is just my subjective opinion.
