Vitalik doing his part to prime the pump

Right now my favorite token model is OMG-style staking tokens.

Reasons:
* Not a medium-of-exchange token

* Clear valuation model (expected discounted future tx fees minus node operation cost)

* Requires running node to get returns, not passive income (so more legally defensible)

Solid rise for OMG, up to $20.

Good things should be coming from this token in a month or so.

One of the users of the OMG beta is "gobsmacked" at the speed.

So, one thing we look at in terms of transactional volume, thats the first thing about scalability right? The system itself. How many transactions can that system handle. One reason why working with Omisego is so important for us is that working with Omisego public network we're working with them to actually be able to explore the scalability solution they're developing for ethereum.

That's actually very very important, we put out a press release for this as well. You've heard of plasma, what's being developed for plasma, right? So OMG has been contributing heavily into that kind of research and we're writing and working with them to be able to execute our own blockchain applying that kind of research and the findings of that research and the preliminary results so far that we've seen from Omisego has been wow... pretty incredible... really incredible.

So lets just put it this way. We can't steal any thunder away from their announcements in the next few months. I dare say this. I think everyone are going to be seriously surprised at what OMG is going to be capable of... we were gobsmacked... seriously gobsmacked...the numbers were... it gives credit card companies a run for their money I dare say.

I've moved most of my bitcoin into OMG, leaving a smattering in some sportsbooks that use bitcoin to bet.

Still have some Eth that I sell for more OMG within the next month or so...think Eth has one more good run in it before OMG takes off.

Biggest takeaway from the townhall:

Plasma development is ahead of schedule; a contingency plan in case it doesn't work is not necessary. What that means is visa-level transaction speed is just months away on the network, with instant exchange of any currency/coin on the open source network.

Also:
Beta SDK will be released in February.
Decentralized exchange design is complete, starting to build on the blockchain.

Thailand will release the “digital passport” in partnership with Ethereum startup OmiseGO

The company Omise has signed a partnership agreement with the Ministry of digital technologies Thailand for collaboration on system identification and online payments on a national scale. The government hopes that the introduction of digital ID cards for citizens will help to reduce fraudulent activity in the network and to protect consumers. Some community members have questioned the technical possibilities of the project at this level at current load Ethereum.

However OmiseGO working on a solution to the scalability together with the developers of Ethereum, and last week it became known about creation of the new Fund with the participation of Vitaliy Buterin — Ethereum Community, which aims to connect Ethereum projects with companies interested in their decisions, and to improve the Ethereum blockchain. OmiseGo became a member of the Fund, along with such projects as the Global Blockchain Labs, Raiden and Golem.

Founder OmiseGO Jun Hasegawa is confident in the prospects of this cooperation, saying that “one project can create a product that will revolutionize the industry, and working together will create a structure that will change the world”. On the application of the blockchain at the government level, recently announced the capital of Taiwan Taipei, which has teamed up with the IOTA and, among other things, plans to introduce a digital identification card TangleID.

Hmm, I hope you are right.
Koreans are also on other exchanges, just like we are on multiple.

I hope they don't dump when it's live on Bithumb.

Went from $15 to 21 in the span of about 2 hours, now seems to have settled in the $18 range.

In the long run, the staking rewards is what's going to determine the price. If you are a holder like I am, these price movements are just a giant kabuki dance.

I still can't stop checking the prices every day though.

The hardfork/hardspoon is 85% completed:

https://blog.cosmos.network/latest-in-co...eb80c69da8

At estimate we will likely see staking as early as end of June. Quoted from the above article:

"We’re 85% of the way to launch. We know that the community is very excited about taking part in this space race (among many other exciting projects that are launching this summer) but it’s prudent to keep expectations reasonable. We remind you to gauge development progress through the roadmap rather than look to any set date. Meticulous software development —indeed, any ambitious engineering endeavor — such as, for instance, building rockets, almost always exceeds estimated timelines. The hard-spoon of Ethereum will occur after the mainnet launches and the snapshot date is not yet decided."

Charting for OMG shows it on a steady decline. I have re-allocated most of my portfolio so it's now 30-35% in OMG after pretty much back burnering it for about a year (i even created this thread and forgot I made it [Image: tongue.gif]). I may have even got ahead of myself and bought back in too early since it has since gone slightly lower (2% ish). However there is little chance this will be that large a bag with so many great milestones coming up, once staking information is out (which will likely come earlier than the staking implementation itself) people will want in to round off to better returns.

I bought way too early as well. Doesn't bother me much since I'm so confident in the project. It's one thing to have a great idea, it's another to have that idea in the hands of an outstanding real world company like Omise.

And when staking comes out, the supply available on the markets will all but vanish.

Vitalik: Ethereum can currently handle 15 transactions per second. Software improvements can increase that to 100 transactions per second. 1st version of sharding will be 10,000 transactions per second. 2nd version of sharding (sharding on top of sharding) is at least hundreds of thousands of transactions per second. Plasma combined with sharding will potentially turn that into hundreds of millions transactions per second.

Appears Cosmos hub will not be ready for several months at the earliest. Any initial implementation of plasma will be controlled by Omise using a PoA consensus. Holders will potentially not be able to stake, or receive any material rewards until June 2019. Smoke and mirrors are becoming typical. We still have no idea how much Omise is really processing daily, since they refuse to tell us. 8 to 9 figures stated last July is incredibly vague.

This thing is dead until people FOMO in again next bullrun. This was an ICO to raise money for Plasma. After it gets developed why use OMG when other erc20 tokens can be used? This is just a hype coin now, no different than TRX
