9 1/2 Weeks is a good erotic movie with Mickey Rouke as a real "alpha" lover

A lot better than the ripoff 50 Shades of Grey.

And way more "alpha" than the watered down, female friendly "romance" movies like the Notebook and Titantic that so many betas get all their fantasy ideals of love from.

I love Master and Commander with Russell Crowe. Brilliant film.

I was thinking about this while I was out hiking earlier. I think what makes the film great is that it has this relationship between Captain Aubrey and Dr. Maturin. Aubrey is a great captain and Maturin is a badass in his way - at one point he pulls of a successful brain surgery on a ship at sea, then later in the film he performs surgery on himself to remove a bullet embedded in his ribs. Aubrey and Maturin respect each other a lot, and they share a great bond over music, but Maturin comes after Aubrey with these whiny intellectual arguments over the nature of command and authority. Aubrey hears him out but in the end, he's running the show, and Maturin ultimately respects that. It's a great illustration of both leadership and masculine friendship.

One of the best scenes comes right before this one - I can't find the earlier scene, but it illustrates the relationship between Aubrey and Maturin. The setup is that Hollom, the midshipman, was walking on deck and one of the deckhands gives him a shoulder bump as he's walking past. Aubrey instantly calls out the sailor, orders him put in irons until he can be flogged in front of the crew, then takes Hollom to his cabin to basically tell him that he needs to be an officer and not try to be a friend to the sailors. Then Maturin comes to Aubrey's cabin and starts in on the situation:

Hollom eventually commits suicide. Aubrey starts off the funeral with the line "The simple truth is, not all of us become the men we once hoped we might be." Which pretty much sums up Hollom's character. And that's the other angle. Hollom just doesn't understand what it takes to lead men, the crew turns against him and he ends up committing suicide. He's an illustration of the point that Aubrey made to Maturin, and what Maturin didn't get about command. Maturin is a great doctor, and a good scientist, but he's no leader of men.

Hadn't seen the following movies on the thread so I though I'd add them.

Gladiator(2000)

The story is one of pure masculinity. The protagonists Wife and Son were killed, and he was sold into slavery. In traditional Spartan alpha-ness, he goes out and obliterates anything in his path. Eventually he finds himself directly in front of the person who gave the order to kill his family. It just gets better from there. Russel Crowe's performance was unbelievable, it is in my top 10 list, easily.

[Image: ?u=http%3A%2F%2Fmedia.giphy.com%2Fmedia%...hy.gif&f=1]

Glengarry Glen Ross(1992)

The ~10 minutes of screen time that Alec Baldwin had was the highlight of this movie. It represents the cutthroat masculine environment that used to be around. It was a slow, but great movie that shows what the mediocre salesmen(Jack Lemmon and Ed Harris) could be if they acted more confident and found more opportunities, much like the alpha males in this movie(Alec Baldwin and Al Pacino).

To Catch A Thief(1955)

This was back when women weren't put on pedestals by Hollywood, and when men were men. Starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly, this is a romance and drama movie. Grant, who is a former criminal in the movie, is forced to come back to Monaco because somebody is robbing under his MO. The police come for him instead of the actual criminal. This brings him into contact with a wealthy young women. You can see where it goes from here.

The dynamic is really what is alpha in this movie. Cary Grant dominates any scene he is in. The way he talks, walks, and his body language all scream alpha. Grace Kelly is also feminine, and beautiful to look at through the duration of the film.

I encourage you to watch all three of the movies.

I vividly remember the feeling I had when the credits rolled on American Beauty. From that moment on it has been #1 on my all time list of movies as the character arc of Lester Burnham was the most realistically triumphant story I'd ever seen. It wasn't until I discovered this awesome community that I realised why the film hit me so hard & has stayed with me for so long. I literally get a massive testo rush & want to fist pump when I watch that scene where he's caught working out & smoking dope in the garage.

"THAT'S...WHAT...YOU...THINK"

(obviously haven't got the hang of embedding yet, or quoting you cats it would seem)

I went to see this with my mum, as I recall & our reactions were polar opposite upon discussion afterwords. I have found bringing it up within new groups I meet to be a good measuring stick of other's red/blue pillery.

When American Beauty came out all reviews said it was a great movie and how it was about how we must appreciate the small things in life. My impression was that it was about a midlife crisis in suburbia. Back then, I just didn't know what a feminized frame the whole term 'midlife crisis' was.

Great movie. (By the way, the original script was actually better. It featured a court case where daughter and her boyfriend stand trial for Lester's murder.)

I remember watching this film in my pre-redpill days and it instantly became my favorite. I also lost my virginity while watching this movie. Oh, the good old days..

I just watched "In a Small World", a joint Japanese/Thai production taking place in Pattaya. Its about a greasy Indian guy, a fat old Belgian and Austrian, and a young Japanese journalist who travel to Pattaya for various reasons. It touches on many red pill themes, such as the true nature of Thai women working in the sex industry, the bitterness of Western women who spend their lives berating their husband, then wonder why they run off, and how naive men are dealing with women.

The lead actress is a solid 9 and her performance is excellent. Direction is good however the editing was subpar and the storyline was hard to follow.

It is free on Amazon Prime. 7.5/10.

My favorite scenes from American Beauty:

1. Annette Bening, engaging in self-talk: I WILL SELL THIS HOUSE TODAY. And the lesbians who complain that it doesn't have a lagoon as advertised. Being a real estate agent probably sucks just like this.

2. Later, the same character getting off on getting boned by the real estate "King".

3. Kevin Spacey taking a fast food job. There's no loss of dignity in that. Reminds me of when paper salesman Jim in The Office says he doesn't want a better job, because then he'd have to care.

Good observation. Movies can often be a stealthy way to discover someone else's views.

Maybe because of the older man - teenage girl theme, American Beauty reminds me of the comedy Election, starring Matthew Broderick as a high school teacher and Reese Witherspoon as Tracy Flick, a dangerously ambitious student. Not a red pill movie per se, but it does portray a middle-aged man trapped in a conventional environment and what he learns or is forced to learn from it.

Since this thread popped up I thought I'd share an observation.

Silence of the Lambs was released 25 years ago. It portrayed the character Buffalo Bill as a psychopath who wanted to transform into a woman by kidnapping them, cutting off portions of their skin and making a woman suit before dumping their bodies in a river.

My wife and I watched it the other day and were joking that if that script were written today then Buffalo Bill would be cast as a transgender victim of patriarchal cisgender misogynist government agents who were inadvertently forcing Bill to murder women by suppressing the open expression of his transformation.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

Haven't scrolled through this whole thread in awhile, so not sure it's been mentioned:

Legends of the Fall

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Frb-fhdscak

I just re-watched this movie and was blown away. BLOWN AWAY.

Now watching it through a red-pill lens, it was a completely different experience.

It is really well-cast and well-acted. The scenes show clearly the behaviors of the inexperienced virgin guy (youngest brother), the beta-male (oldest brother), and alpha male Tristan (played by Brad Pitt). Watch how the girl(s) fall for the alpha male, and how the beta tries to handle it. Watch how everyone loves the alpha male, how he negs the preteen girl, how he operates so animalistically, how Julia Ormond's character can't help herself from falling for him.

It's a little bit dark at the end, and the protagonist is intensely dark triad...

But I'm gonna keep it on my list to watch with my future sons when they turn 16.

Instead of being awakened a few years later as planned, they wake up in the year 2044, in a post-nuclear world. By then, humans have retreated to underground living facilities, and, as a result of subjection to a specific kind of radiation, all males have died out.
Women reproduce through parthenogenesis, living in an oppressive feminist society, where the apparatchiks teach that women suffered under males until males were removed from the world.

Quote:Quote:

In doing so, they discover the truth: radiation was just a feminist lie to keep women underground and the surviving male population were "naturalised" into women by the feminists when they took power in the post-war period. As a result of discovering the truth, both Max and Albert begin thinking of bringing the world back to normal.

Believe it or not, but when the movie was filmed in the 80s it was considered as a depiction of communism.
Anyway a good movie, fun to watch.

they made To Catch a Thief into a TV series in the late 60s starring Robert Wagner. Wagner is even more alpha and debonair than Cary Grant. The premise is that the CIA entraps Wagner, a master jewel thief, and gives him limited freedom in exchange for doing jobs for them, like burgling embassies. Its like a cross between James Bond and Mission impossible, but what is really red pill is Wagner's depiction of the character and how he interacts with others. The resurrected this theme with a recent series called White Collar which is good but the lead is not the red pill character that Robert Wagner is/was.

Big fan of white collar. The silver lining as I recall is that Neil Caffrey(protagonist) had game... It was romanticized to all hell, but game nonetheless. Also, he was living the life that most of us here dream of; international playboy with unrestricted wealth!

I will need to take a look at the To Catch a Thief series. Thanks for the recommend!

Passengers is 2017's close-to-be-a very good redpill movie

Feminists and SJWs are attacking it furiously, calling it "space rape" "opressive rape culture" and so on, you know the drill

They are literally shaking and can't sleep at night, because Passengers has none of the feminist propaganda in it,
but quite the contrary.

Neil Caffrey is based on Al Mundy in To Catch a Thief. Fundamentally very similar shows. White Collar is newer and is better in that the story line continues and evolves from week to week, whereas To Catch a Thief is like a series of separate missions, although there are recurring characters.

That said. Thief is more redpill in my book. White Collar got mucked up with the sexy but masculine love interest and the beta fat friend.

You can get all 66 episodes on DVD for about $60 bucks. I need to pick up the White Collar DVDs.

A film I like is Body Heat (1980). There are minor roles by a very young Ted Danson and Mickey Rourke, but the main characters are played by William Hurt and a very hot (then) Kathleen Turner.

its a film noir thriller. The main character, Hurt, is sort of a loser who tries to seduce the married Turner. There is a great scene where he has dinner with her and her husband. The husband is in real estate connected to mob interests and he explains his success by saying some men are willing "to do what it takes." I don't want to give anything away but that is the turning point where Hurt attempts to make something of himself. The crux of the film is his struggle to do so. There is some very red pill truth about women in the film which i can't explain without giving away the film.

In addition, its just a good, enjoyable thriller and very steamy to boot. Would make a great Netflix and chill flick. Some great sex scenes.

Not red pill movies per-se but two movies I re-watched recently with a red pill mindset. I was watching both of these with my dad and I kind of tested him to see what he thought about the situations playing out in these two movies. It didn't go well in that regard but I'll explain below.

Forrest Gump

The red pill lesson I took from this was the story of Forrest and Jenny. Forrest was clearly in love with her since elementary school and despite him having mental issues, he was still Jenny's best option for a quality man in life.

However, throughout the movie when both were in their 20s, you always saw Jenny leave Forrest when he got back from the military in favor of a guy that would physically and mentally abuse her. Her daddy issues really came into play here.

So basically in their 20s, Jenny went throughout the country with random guys fucking them and taking a lot of drugs while being treated kind of like the scum she was. Meanwhile, Forrest was a military man that also became a world-class ping pong player, started a very successful shrimping company, and made unbelievable investments to make himself a multi-millionaire.

Then "magically" you see Jenny come back when she is about to hit the wall or already has depending on your view of how soon that happens with Forrest having all the money in the world to finally "accept" him.

I try to explain my view of what happened with that to my dad and he tries to tell me it was out of love by Forrest's end. Then I tell him "he is getting taken advantage of!" Not that he didn't have enough money if they were to get divorced, but it was a classic example of a woman settling with the friend-zoned beta once their options ran out and the beta maximizing his value.

Sleepless in Seattle

This was another movie that irritated me on a re-watch. I want to point out Meg Ryan here. This is not as bad as the scenario in Forrest Gump but it was something that still agitated me.

Meg Ryan is engaged to a very successful corporate man in Chicago who happens to have a lot of allergies. That's pretty much his only flaw. Decent looking guy, very successful job, great lifestyle, and always treated her well.

Problem is she doesn't truly "love" the man. This is all well and good but her rationale for leaving is kind of ridiculous. She falls in love with a man that she heard on the radio and wants to meet him. So she finds out he lives in Seattle and wants to meet him.

She goes there and literally STALKS Tom Hanks at his sister's house. She's just looking at him and he notices across the street. I thought that was pretty creepy and stalkerish and made the argument to my dad if a guy did that to a girl, he would be labeled a creepy stalker.

My dad disagreed with all of my thoughts on the dynamic between those two saying it was ok basically because Tom Hanks was attracted to her. And it was ok for her to leave the other guy for Hanks, a guy she has literally only heard the voice of, just for "possible love at first sight."

That whole movie was just so cringe-worthy to me and it really teaches you the lesson that no matter how well you build up your life, you can be fucked over just on instinct or wanting something different by a woman if you're a beta. Thankfully they didn't get married......

As far back as I could remember, I always wanted to be a player.
