Seconds later, Noor opened fire and Damond was killed.

Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges took to Facebook following the shooting, immediately coming to the defense of Minnesota’s Somali community.

Anyway, as far as why this group or that group is initially established here or there, it has basically little to do with "having better options" or not, or any active decision at all really. Back then the Goths were simply barbarians compared to the Romans despite being quite similar genetically.

I made the case that if you had the European people of the year 1000, then you could not simply open your borders to them. It would have taken 1-3 generations of intensive education and change of their entire culture, science and way of thinking to let them into any modern Western state.

Though somewhat of an excuse as the Goths are concerned is that the Romans actually were quite tribal, racist, had rampant slavery and they were barbaric. Still - they were incredibly superior in terms of science, education, technology, infrastructure and architecture. Back then there was not even a backup plan of sending out millions of combat bots/drones to slaughter the future Caliphate soldiers.

So their elite was simply batshit crazy thinking that those highly different Goths would become actual Roman citizens when given a chance.
