They both got caught fucking around and there was a murky grey area of supposed "sexual assault". My take is that somebody who saw, white knighted and accused the guy of taking advantage of her - which activated to murky "grey area" with legal hounds being dispatched - she likely went along with at first to save face. When the cops come in and see its all BS then nothing really else you can do. Likely the fact that this happened on the property of the show also made things worse.
