Yeah - that is a choice exactly along the lines of SJW-feminist thinking.

A female hero best has to be ugly and fat and lesbian. The lesbians criticized the new Wonder Woman movie, because Wonder Woman was too beautiful. The producers ignored them, because they did not want to lose another 100 mio. $ on a Cuntbusters flop.

There is no shortage of pretty black cuties in the UK - plenty of hot actresses. But they picked her to press a point - "You better like them shitlords! Beauty is just in your mind - we are going to reprogram you!"

The whole thing seems rather forced.

Although to be fair, Donna was a great character (when a main character, not when introduced). The entire sidekick mechanic worked better once they took the romantic aspect out of things.

I still watch it because the convoluted storylines can be entertaining, but yes, SJWs have taken over this season. The companion's lesbianism has been referenced in every episode just to make the point as blatantly as they can, and they portrayed 19th century England as though about 50% of the population were non-white back then...it's a bit tiresome and sad that they have to politicise a science fiction show about aliens, ostensibly an apolitical family show, with their anti-racism/homophobia activism.

Also, I think people forget about Captain Jack, who was openly Bisexual.

Might have been a somewhat necessary work choice. Looks like it could be growing out after the shaved her head for her Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 role.

The way he was written was coy. He isn't "bi" but a lover of every one. Whether it's man, woman, machine, or androgynous animal.

I can appreciate clever SJW tricks that are well written and cans forgive it. What I can't forgive is blunt over the top in your face crap like what they've been doing presently.

Gugu Mbatha Raw has already been in Doctor Who - why not cast her again?

I grew up watching Doctor, I stopped watching it about 2 years ago.

I minded Jack less because he didn't exist just for the purpose of being gay, he's supposed to be an all-round pervert, and it was sometimes played for laughs at his expense (I remember one joke where the Doctor implied he didn't want Jack standing behind him for that reason). Very different from the kind of gay characters you see these days where their gayness is shoehorned in and they're then treated reverentially just so a certain demographic "feels represented".

Captain John took this to an even more ridiculous extreme, flirting with a dog.

Anyway, I think the biggest issue with Doctor Who is it doesn't know who it is for.

Some episodes are basically for children, but others, had an execution and a mass suicide within the first five minutes.

Common problem when the show has multiple episode writers who aren't all on the same page.

It's always been like that though. They got in massive trouble back in the 70s by Mary Whitehouse for the violence back when they were doing a lot of horror episdoes. They switched to hard sci-fi and comedy but not before finishing off with an episode that killed off every guest star.

Thing is, that's why we loved it as kids. Every other show there was some BS reason someone survived or else they had to make villains dumb as bricks. Doctor Who was the one show where monsters could be monsters.

Yesterdays episode was decent.

Bill of course did her weekly "I'm the only gay in the village" speech, but she was called out on it. Two people were killed on screen.

I considered this a forgone conclusion, after they did the gender-switch with Missy.

In theory a Timelord can be a Father and Mother of a baby Timelord, I guess.

It will be interesting to see how the ratings do. I wasn't the hugest fan of Matt Smith's Doctor -- I liked edgier and snarky versions -- but he was the most popular, drawing a lot of teen girls into the show.

Will this give them a boost back in that demo that they lost with Capaldi, or will girls show that they don't want to watch a female hero, but would prefer to tune in for the adventures of the cute boy and his pretty companion every week....

Words can't express how sickened I am by the scum at the BBC.
I watched 1 episode. It had 6 students. All non white apart from a Scottish one. The assistant is black and a dyke. Matt Lucas is a fag. And Dr Who is subtlely portrayed as having an intererest in dinner mashing aka joyboyism.

Now we learn Dr Who is now a tranny ie kids are now being groomed for faggotry AND tranney-ism.
Incest, outright paedo-ism and sadomasochism won't be far away at all.

This sodom is what I'd expect from the BBC - the channel that is brimming with paedophilia and cover ups - Rolf Harris, Stuart Hall, Jimmy Savile and many more.

We can't even boycott it, because its compulsory for GB citizens to fund the sick freak channel.

When are these people going to learn that this gender-swapping crap doesn't work.
Just like when Australia experimented with a female prime minister.
The ratings will tank, just ask the comic book companies how this sort of thing works.
Once the initial flush of "you go girlism" wears out and they are left with people who are actually interested in Dr. Who, and they will find that there are now far fewer of them.
Meanwhile I'll patiently wait for a version of "Andrew of Green Gables" to come out.

The reboot had a great run for 3 of the doctors. Capaldi was saddled with bad writing which made his performance mediocre.

This is just SJW pandering. Shame because I liked the show.

Meanwhile TV detective Miss Marple is gonna become a pre op tranny dyke, complete with crewcut hair, dungarees, tattoos and a huge dick he/she/it waves about whilst investigating.
