Joanna Palani: Danish-Kurdish female sniper who left Europe to fight ISIS

I'm honestly kind of surprised at some of the responses here.

The idea that women are supposed to be prissy, defenceless creatures is pretty much a recent fetish that sprung from having relatively secure and crime-free city-centric nation states. Back in the day menfolk often had to leave for extended periods and leave the women to defend the children, come what may. They had to know how to use a spear/bow/musket/rifle and not be afraid to take a life if that's what it came to.

So, no. I don't have an issue with this woman doing what the rest of the western world (until recently) has obviously been too limp-dicked to manage. If that kill count is anything to go by then apparently a few thousand clones of this "attention whoring hamster" would manage to do what the combined trillion dollar forces of NATO has utterly failed to do for years and years. Of course anyone doubting that this woman would fail to provide them with A1 alpha male sons is probably not holding up their end of the genetic bargain. This is what solid genetic material looks like, boys. Knock up a skinny, prissy runt and you will end up handing the keys to the kingdom to a skinny, prissy runt. Tits? Hips? A willingness to murder anyone that threatens the cubs? Hell, were I not spoken for I'd get on a plane this instant. By tomorrow I'd have professed my undying love for her in person and my dick wouldn't leave her until a pregnancy test came back positive.

As for bloody selfies being a little offputting, harden up.

Modern militaries have gentlemanly standards for reasons of public relations but for hundreds of thousands of years victory in combat has been celebrated by the taking of trophies and the bloody selfie is just a new manifestation of this ancient tradition. Moreover I guarantee you it's nothing our own troops don't do secretly and would gladly do openly if it were allowed. I for one endorse traditional warrior behaviour, up to and including all the stuff that has been cucked out of the modern armed forces.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

I don't object to her taking pictures; we took pictures of everything in Iraq. I have pictures on a drive somewhere of all kinds of crazy shit you only see in a war zone. But posting them all over the internet without a clear purpose is just terrible security practice.

There's no way in hell I would've posted pictures of the stuff we did online while operations were ongoing. You never want to hand your enemy actionable intel.

All the guys shitting on her should share their ISIS kill count with the forum.....*crickets*

While I am against attention whoring, one must give props where they are deserved. The hamstering and bickering comments (she should be in the kitchen) is shocking, especially when it's guys sitting at home playing COD.

Should women who fight on the frontlines of war be applauded or not. That's probably the core issue.

This is after an example of females taking on the masculine role

If men take on women's roles/feminine roles they are deservably derided but women taking on masculine roles doesn't seem to be a problem at all.

Being the last line of defence of course to protect her kids is more in line with feminine roles but this is definitely a strain of feminism. The groups that use such women as soldiers admit that this is feminist. They are all about Gender Equality if you look into their ideology.

Women LARPing as men is feminism as it has happened in history whatever wave it occurred as.

Is feminism good when it encourages women to fight alongside the men and be just as disposable as they are?

Or is taking up feminine roles much better in comparison?

If females should be applauded for frontline fighting then it is acceptable for women to fight like men as soldiers.

This is not larping.

If her people were in no real danger and the Kurdish people's militia was adequately stocked with enough military aged males to drive back ISIS then I would absolutely be the first to tell her "get out of the way, you're taking up valuable unit space that could be better used by a member of the combat gender".

The reality is that she and other female Kurds are forced to fight because the existence of their people is literally on the line and obviously a few bombs dropped here and there by US pilots is not enough to secure the future of ethnic Kurds.

Fucking pathetic that Western governments outlaw the trophy hunting of declared enemies of the state. No doubt in part because they don't want westerners coming back with "tall tales" of cross border ISIS being captured, tortured, and giving up intel that suggests the caliphate is getting support/marching-orders from both our own leaders and (((our greatest ally))).

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

truth or not, WB or not, this is great war propaganda. It will piss off ISIS as much as a story about pigs being bred as suicide bombers against them.

Propaganda is powerful. This is psychological warfare. Remember that ISIS fighters supposedly believe that if they are killed by a woman they don't get their 100 virgins.

I'm okay with silly shit like this as long as it hurts the enemy.

Ideology is the main reason they let them in.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurds

There are 32 million Kurds around the world. There are ample men who are ready to fight if the Kurds as an ethnic group are under threat. In addition the Kurds in Iraq that are under ISIS threat employ only men in the frontlines.

How many instances in human history where this threat ensued that women fought alongside men that are not the result of egalitarian ideology?

They have 50000+ men and growing and with the SDF added many more men from Arabs, Turkmen and Assyrians as well as leftist volunteers. They are certainly adequately stocked. And the Peshmerga are ready to help if they are in serious trouble as it happened in Kobani.

I find women taking on combat roles as viscerally revolting as instinctively wrong. This is the real thing and undeniably masculine.

If she survives this. This woman will become exceptionally rich.

Can you imagine how much a book on her life their would be worth? The interviews? The speeches?

If she can survive this it wouldn't shock me the least bit if she makes 8 or 9 figures. No education would provide her that level of wealth. She'd also probably land an exceptionally rich, handsome husband.

She is fighting against the world enemy. I can't comment on the group shes fighting with but it's no secret how much the developed world would like to put an end to ISIS.

On the other hand. They do make perfect enemies for groups like ISIS. The perfect foils for each other.

What surprises me is that nobody on this RP forum has yet questioned the validity of the story.

- It's written in a positive, subjective tone.
- She won't claim a number of kills (perhaps because zero?).
- It's only her [personally invested] fans who claim she's at 100+ kills (a curiously impressive round number)
- How many military-trained (rather than self-taught, as her story suggests) snipers have a body count close to that?
- She poses with a short-barreled rifle, not a "sniper" rifle
- She's very cute
- She says things few cute girls would (loyalty, fight, etc) and she lays them on thick
- It's all very convenient. If it sounds too good to be true....

I agree with many of you that this is propaganda. I would go a step further and suggest that it's made from whole cloth.

I hope I'm wrong.

Is it really so bad in Syria that they need their women fighting their war?
