Grew up in that immediate area.

Very sad, children and families were there, I believe this was not mentioned here, but one of the shooters felt so guilty he drove on the highway after and called 911 to surrender.

The second one surrendered on site.

I can't understand why one suspect is moroccan, self hate? Also, it's odd the police has not released the name of the suspects as of now.

The consensus is that there is one Québécois and one arab.

Scary.

And it makes Trump supporters look bad with the timing.

Dead people and bad political effect, what a disaster.

Almost all mass shooters have stuff like this in common. Many of them are abused at school or at home, although obviously that doesn't excuse their actions.

Veering into conspiracy theory for a moment here myself, did anyone else notice a complete lack of identifiable Muslims in public yesterday? By which I mean women in hijabs, niquabs, chadors and the like in particular, something that stands out as specifically Islamic.

I went to three malls in different parts of town yesterday around noon, one of which is in a heavily Muslim immigrant area of town. Normally, about 20% of the people at this mall (the identifiable women and the men with them) are recognizably Muslim, and there are always a handful of such women at the other two.

Not a single one in sight at any of the three. Not one. I have never been to that specific mall, in over ten years, that I didn't see that approximate proportion of identifiably Muslim customers. Started wondering if they all fled home before Trump's inauguration, or if I was about to become a statistic.

In fairness, it could have been some sort of holiday, or maybe there was a festival or event of some kind going on. But man, it was spooky. And then a couple hours later, this shooting in Quebec.
