I think we like it because it feels good, but it is also an act of accomplishment. Women physically and emotionally submit to men when having sex. Men get a mental high off knowing that we're found attractive, just like women do. I think it affirms who we are, as desirable and capable individuals.

Think about some of wilder things that get women off:

All of those things are experiences that throw her helplessly into her emotions and feelings. If you get into a woman's head and pull the right strings you can bring the puppet to life. From there on, 8 times in a night won't be enough.

Let me get scientific on you guys to prove a point. Testosterone drives sex drive in men and women, estrogen makes women feminine but does not drive sex drive. Men have a lot more testosterone than women due to the testes, that is why we are more masculine, aggressive and have exponentially higher sex drives. Men tend to initiate sex more for this reason, and tend to desire it more on a physiologic level.

Yes and no, and where yes, in different ways than men, because women are not the same as men.

The average skank you're hunting in the club or on the street will have nowhere near the desire to immediately bang you as the average man has to bang her. This is because she has no connection to him. For women, it is all about emotions, feelings, the wider emotional context of what is happening. In my experience a woman's libido has a momentum to it. (I'm talking about the average woman, not sluts here.) If they're single their libido can sort of go dormant, but when they start a relationship then their libido grows and grows, sort of like becoming hooked on a drug.

Women have the physical capacity for more sex and more orgasms in a 24-hours period than men, but when they actually get a guy, usually they aren't satisfied properly by him due to his poor technique. I don't think men can really relate to that because a) it's so easy for us to get off the first time and b) we have to deal with the dreaded refractory period.

I find it very hard to conceive of what it would be like to be able to string up a chain of unlimited back-to-back orgasms. It sounds like it would be like having a free supply of heroin. I don't know if that would make me more likely to want sex all the time or to take it for granted. For a guy, we have to try to make the most of each of our orgasms because they are fewer and far between.

Great post, I think this is a great insight on the "common" situation when girls are around guys, guys meet girls, etc.

I used to buy the idea that "a woman knows within 30 seconds if she'll bang you" --- she doesn't. It's a boasting conversation piece meant to stress how much power they have, that they are the gatekeepers (the only part of that which is true).

The only thing close to that idea is only that a "man knows if you break some threshold" , when considering a woman, for banging in a given scenario.

We love the fantasy that women are secretly yearning for sex with us, if only society were more open and accepting of feminine sexuality. Yet, in the same breath we’ll hear about how slutty and aggressive women have become in the fall of western society by the same guys. It’s ironic, but it gives guys hope that if they can find the secret formula to unleashing the sexual beast within every woman he’ll find this insatiable she-devil to pair off with monogamously. If women were men’s sexual equals, why would they not be given to the same drives that conflict with monogamy? Imagine a world where women are as horny as men. Women of course love to encourage and reinforce this social convention because it sounds like empowerment in the face of patriarchal sexual oppression (yes, we’d be more sexual if you’d only allow us to you evil men), while at the same time tacitly acknowledging that it turns men into white knight sympathizers of the cause (i.e. feminine entitlement and primacy).

Just because skanks have minimal filtering mechanisms doesn't mean they don't still want sex, otherwise they wouldn't be in the club in the first place. It's just that their desire to bang is more abstract, where they wait for the tingles to happen with "Mister Right-Now™". Guys just classify all the women in the club that are HB5+ as suitable targets.

I highly recommend the book sex at dawn for those more interested in this issue. The entier presmise of the book is basically the same question as this thread. It really delves deep into this taboo issue and comes to the conclusion that the whole "women want sex less because of more investment in the baby etc"" is all a bunch of pop culture bullshit and in fact women are way hornier then men.

• The screaming women do during sex is actually a mating call inviting other men to join in (Bonobos show the same behavior)
• Sex for women was not transactional in hunter gatherer societies as you may expect but served the purpose of bonding together the tribe. Women weren't "picking" dudes like todays modern liberal societies.
• Neither men nor women are wired to be monogamous.
  

In the end the question of "are women hornier than men" isn't totally answered but what is answered is the modern day view that women enjoy sex less then me and view sex as transactional and therefore have the upperhand in dating/sex the modern day society is not because of nature but because of social dynamics.

I think that women use sex as a tool to get what they want aside from pleasure. So they have logical reason "why" to have sex, it's not only for pleasure.

I also think they enjoy much more sex. Most men would not even have sex if it isnt for that validation. They would rather jerk off to porn. Women are not like that.

So my answer is yes, they want more sex than men, but unlike us, they can have negative consequences for sex.
