Silicon Valley increasingly using AI and algorithms to screen "offensive" content

http://www.full30.com

Here is an example of people getting pissed with the youtube.

Its basically gun-youtube but what the founders did is got all the BIG name gun channels to move over.

there is also a gunbroker (once ebay got rid of gun sales) and armslist (since craigslist) doesn't like guns).

The former top-gear crew is promoting a car oriented social media.

I think if the big players push censorship, as username and philosophical_recovery note, we will see much more such niche sites, considering setup and operation costs have dropped significantly.

It's clear the silicon valley companies, especially facebook and twitter, did not like how their platforms were used for wrongthink against their globalist agenda during the election. I'm actually surprised the censorship and banning wasn't more intense and overt, but I guess they could only do so much being publicly traded companies. But it appears they've found their rationalization for it now, deeming anything they don't like as "fake news". Perfectly palatable to their shareholders and board members. How noble, taking out "fake news" and protecting the people form misinformation...how ironic. I mean, what else could be fake news except all that crazy wikileaks stuff and "conspiracy theory" hillary e-mail propoganda from those crazy 4channers, as they would likely put it.

Bottom line is facebook and twitter, especially twitter, need to die. This is the perfect time to dump twitter now that they're ratcheting up the censorship on their little safe space. The time of thinking in hashtags and 170 character counts or whatever it is needs to come to an end. I don't know how much more I can take of 80% of "news" being something that someone tweeted. Regular people need to learn and understand their precious social media platforms are not neutral and are manipulating everything they see and interact with on those platforms. Hopefully the word will get out and this ridiculous short attention span attitude will go with it. The funny memes can stay though.

They actually believed their bullshit, that Hillary would win easily. Thus they felt no need to censor their platforms.

Now they're dealing with Trump and they are going into panic mode. They are going to try and contain/assassinate Trump, and meanwhile work on controlling all info like they used to have it back in the TV days.

However the horses have left the barn, as long as we stay on the offense we can keep freedom on the net.

Net neutrality, as Sp5 mentioned, is essential.

That's what I'm really worried about though, net neutrality. It won't matter which firms and media platforms are on the censorship/thought control bandwagon if the entire internet is compromised. Like that bill that barely had any noise about a month ago of handing off some kind of naming system from the US to the UN. And it had something to do with associating names with the corresponding IP address. Stuff like that, however innocent it might seem, comes off to me as testing the waters to see what they can get away with under the pubic's notice. As far as I know it passed without any issue and with zero media coverage.

Thank God Trump was elected though, I think he at least will temporarily stop this trend, though Europe, as we saw with the UK's insane privacy violating act they just passed, will continue into a surveillance state. I'm actually hoping he stops using twitter at some point in his presidency when he notices all the negative attacks and manipulation of what he says. Maybe find some other platform that's unbiased and neutral to communicate from. I'd love to see him come out against twitter and the poisoning of minds and intelligence it plays a part in.

There are several "new internets" already. Just don't expect them to be as fast or flashy as the current internet.

(((Zuckbook))) goes full censorship:

Facebook is going to start fact checking, labeling, and burying fake news and hoaxes in the News Feed, the company announced on Thursday.

The decision comes after Facebook received heated criticism for its role in spreading a deluge of political misinformation during the U.S. presidential election.

To combat fake news, Facebook has partnered with a shortlist of media organizations, including Snopes and ABC News, that are part of an international fact-checking network lead by Poynter, a nonprofit school for journalism located in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Starting as a test with a small percentage of its users in the United States, Facebook will make it easier to report news stories that are fake or misleading. Once fact checkers have confirmed that the story is fake, it will be labeled as such and demoted in the News Feed.

A company spokesperson told Business Insider that the social network will also use other signals, like algorithms that detect whether a story that appears fake is going viral, to determine if it should label the story as fake and bury it in peoples' feeds.

Algo censorship + "Fake news" campaign + end of net neutrality = end of free internet.

The end of net neutrality means that Facebook, Twitter and approved websites like CNN load lightning fast, RVF loads like a 56k dialup connection.

It will be a test for Trump, because Big Telcom and Big Media lobbyists want to end net neutrality. Don't fall for the fake "deregulate the internet" theme.

Who do you believe is for net neutrality? And what does it mean to you?

To me it sounds like more power to regulatory bodies. Regulatory bodies are the easiest thing in the world for Big ____ (insert hated industry here) to control.
