China town is know for this. Quality I can't say anything about.

I think it's reasonable to buy the real thing- within reason
My Citizen watch was roughly ~200. I like how it looks, it's high quality and I know I'll take care of it better than a 20 dollar watch (which would tell time, but look fake as shit)
Would I buy a $600 dollar Gucci watch?
No. The ROI just isn't there.

It all comes down to quality. A lot of "brand" names have taken shortcuts over time to lower their overhead and material prices to make that extra % in profit.
Fair enough, but are their products worth the price?
Fashion, as someone here has already pointed out is quite overrated. While you do get what you pay for, Raybans aren't really that much better than some of the sunglasses you find at a kiosk in the mall.
Take Nike clothes. Are they worth that much just for the logo? It's not like the material is any better. What about Jordans?
While watches are their own fashion statement, is a Rolex really anything special?
Fashion can be important to your SMV, but money should be spent wisely. Is a 20k rolex worth that kind of money? Or is a new car? I'd rather spend 10k on a car that is decent and goes from A to B with no problems than a Mercedes for 100k.

As a guy who doesn't know shit about watches I wouldn't notice any difference between a $10000 Rolex and a $50 cheap knockoff. The same goes for glasses. These items are way too elitist to impress anybody except gold diggers and golf buddies. I wouldn't be on top of my game if I knew I was wearing an expensive accessory which can be easily stolen, lost or broken.

Rawmeo:
First off, fan of your posts. Good shit.
Second, I have a couple of thoughts on your thread:
1. You live in the counterfeit capital of the world. You're going to see A LOT of fakes, both being sold and worn. Get used to it.
2. Getting any sort of validation from the things you own or wear, or from other people seeing you displaying them, is unbecoming. This is an "inner game" issue. As others have pointed out, if you want to buy something expensive, buy it for YOU, not to impress your wife, not to impress random guys on the street, not to impress men you do business with.
3. Someone in this thread said something to the effect of "The people who can't tell the fake product from the real thing don't matter." Huh? I can promise you: The difference between "people who matter" and people who don't is NOT whether they can tell the difference between a replica and the genuine thing. It does not determine their character, their values, or any other important attribute. If anything, people who are overly obsessed with appearances are shallow and insecure.
4. If you want to project status and wealth, invest in things that can't be faked. Build a fucking Heli-Pad on your front lawn and get a helicopter. No one will ask about your Rolex after seeing you get off a helicopter to come to your meeting, I promise. A yacht works too.
5. Overall, I'd just suggest you stop giving a shit what other people think. The people wearing fakes most likely want to impress you. See how I turned that around? You're sitting here worrying about your own image, when the reality is, you have nothing to be concerned about. You own the GENUINE THING. You're successful---you don't have to pretend. Stop worrying about other people pretending to be like you. I guarantee you there are guys on this forum talking up how they have 6 girls in their harem and how girls are proposing to them and blah blah blah that haven't even fucked 10 women in their lives. Are you overly concerned that their pretending will reflect bad on you? Who gives a shit if they're fucking girls or if they're faking it. YOU have a woman YOU are happy with, THAT'S what matters.
TL;DR:
Some people "fake it till they make it". You already made it. Don't worry, be happy.

I think you're the newcomer that hits the hardest on this forum, that's why I already repped you a while ago. That's solid advice and can apply to everyone. I'm personally not triggered when I see fake stuff, just a thought of "WTF is this guy doing?" and also a thought that maybe this guy genuinely thinks he is wearing a real one, but just got fooled.
Sure, if someone has a Ferrari, an helicopter, a private yacht, a mansion, etc. then this cannot be faked and projects lots more status than a watch, a bag, a pair of glasses, etc.

Tough call. Owning quality stuff is cool but there is a line to be crossed where you pay too much and it isn't worth it or the object becomes a liability that you have to worry about.
I guess it depends on what stage of your life you're in and who you're trying to impress. A lawyer I know received a watch worth five figures from a client for winning a case, and high status people have noticed it and commented on it. It makes him appear successful, high status, and legitimate.
The artsy girls I go after don't give a fuck about a Gucci belt or some shit like that. I get older men in their prime who have stacks having nice watches, etc.
Although I will say that most guys I know who wear Gucci belts/Apple watches are try-hard to the max and don't fuck.

Poor Rawmeo... one minute he was waxing poetic on the tackiness of knockoff brands. And the next, his compound was getting raided and he ended up suicided in a BKK prison.

He probably did it himself, he seemed soft and would have most likely done life in a US prison just like Ross Ulbricht.
