So bartending has been mentioned to death
(but not really elaborated upon.....)
What about as a barback/bussy?
I recently got offered a position at a bar-cum-club. That was a only role they had available, but the managers know that I'm interested in being a bartender — I have a background as one on my résumé — and will probably progress me to one depending on availability. That's how most bartenders generally start off in the industry, working their way up.
Do you guys that are au fait with this line of work know if bussies/barbacks are in a role as conducive to gaming women as the bartenders themselves? The job requires me to be on the floor a fair bit collecting empty glasses, so there's a fair bit more interaction with customers.
In terms of my workmates, it's easier than I thought. I ended up being on pretty flirtatious terms with 3 of the other female bartenders, which is a bonus — not to talk myself up, but I'd gotten the impression that the staff (definitely the girls, at least) at this venue were hired for their looks. We do knock off drinks after we've closed up the club so we socialise together, thus any worries I had that I was hired into a "lesser" role than the bartenders, were unfounded. Once again, maybe anyone with much more bar experience can chip in with your thoughts?
Point #4 in the following article caught my eye:

How true is it? I've also started working at a call centre and on my induction shift, clicked well with one of the other new girls, bonding over how shit we were already finding it. We ended up on our own at lunch break and number closed the following shift, only to find her boyfriend waiting for her when we left the office together (a nice guy, but very beta looking). I've noticed that a lot of the other girls have been rather receptive, so I'm wondering if anyone else has first-hand experience where they can corroborate the ROK article.
As an aside: I'm currently in between jobs and am awaiting a much more permanent and professional position to start, so as far as shitting where you eat goes, I really couldn't care less if I get fired from the latter job.
