Good thread, I've thought about this a lot.
Look at what recently happened with Joe Budden. This dude's a rapper who's been talking shit about Drake for the past few weeks, so he's been talked about a lot recently.
Anway, last Sunday some teenage kids ran up to him while he was sitting in his car in his driveway and harassed him. Joe chased them down and threatened to kill them. Meanwhile they recorded the whole thing - Did it all for Twitter and Instagram followers.
Here's one of the kids' Twitter.
Point is, these three retards who ran up on Joe are rich high school kids living in the suburbs who fit the description of this thread perfectly. I know and have met a lot of these kids in my life, especially in high school. Usually white or mixed but love to talk like a nigga, rich parents, skinny, annoying loud bitch voices, wears snapbacks and clothes with a million brands, heavily active on social media, and above all love to act like a punk thug who grew up on the streets.
I agree with OP for the most part but have my own thought process when it comes to what really causes this. It all comes down to the kind of role their parents have in their lives. It generally goes one of both ways: If the parents are the strict Ivy league-type parents with a heavy presence in the kid's life, usually a beta dad and nerdy mom with both parents having high-paying jobs and also a good relationship with each other, the kid ends up being the 'nerd' - Cares about school, gets good grades, goes on to make mom and dad proud. On the other hand, if the parents are more loose, spending much less time with their kid, usually the parents cheating on one another and the dad is the only one with the job while the mom does whatever the fuck she wants during the day, the kid end up a punk wannabe-hoodrat.
And that's the funniest aspect of it - Watching these punk rich kids try hard to make others think they're 'street'. They usually end up being a plug selling drugs to their friends and classmates and a lot of them even try to be up and coming rappers. 100% of the time it fails.
You're right OP, a lot of these kids end up pursuing this because of the safety net their parents give them. Many of these punks end up in jail at least once before they reach their 20's. Actual poor gangbangers take risks that make economic sense to them when they break the law and it's awful for them and their family when they get caught and end up in jail, but these faggots proudly go to jail knowing that their classmates will hear about it and a screenshot or video of the moment will end up on social media for the whole school to see so that everyone knows how badass he is; and also knowing that mommy and daddy will bail them out.
It's also due to boredom. I'm not even joking. Usually their parents don't make them work, so if you have a car and a law-safety net from your parents, what do you honestly think a bunch of high school kids will decide to do with their time? That's also why you hear about stuff like this happening more over the summer. When there's no work PLUS no school, these rich kids need to fill up their time with something.
I'll end by recommending anyone who's interested in what I'm saying to watch the movie
Project X if you haven't already. Perfect visual of what Im talking about. Three rich white high school kids in the suburbs throw a party at one of their parents' mansion of a house while mom and dad are out of town. House gets wrecked to shit. Everything's ruined. Spoiler: At the end of the movie, mom freaks out and dad gives an indicator of an "atta-boy" pat on the back and wink to his son. Rich kids will do this shit especially when they know mom and dad are lax pushovers who don't know how to be parents.
The movie actually gained a cultural following by rich high school kids in real life who also don't respect their parents. These kids would throw Project X copycat parties at their homes when mom and dad were away for the weekend and the homes would get wrecked to shit, just like in the movie.
This all went down when I, myself, was in high school. In fact, a 'shy girl' in my grade ended up throwing a Project X party the summer before senior year. A gang showed up and stole all her dad's guns and her mom's jewelry while she was in her room getting fucked by a football player. I remember having a crush on her all throughout high school being the beta that I was, not saying one word to her, thinking she was all innocent and shit, and then that happens. Haha, stupid bitch. But I digress.
