Don't underestimate the US getting involved. If they think they can swoop in with a covert team to put Ergodan back in, they will. I'm sure Putin has activated a team as well. Turkey is too important for the USA to lose.

It's Obama though, he has never proven to be able to do any kind of strategic thinking.

Doubt the USA will loose Turkey, even witht the coup. I even belive the military are more pro-USA than Erdogan.

No reason to get cheerful. Army was always and remains Pro-US and Pro-Israeli. Erdogan is an option for independence

This is US getting Turkey. Kerry already says he hopes for "continuity"

Turkey is where the supply lines for ISIS / ISIL / DaEsh run. It's too early to hope that the Turkish military shuts it down. That seemed to have been an Edrogan family project, complete with kickbacks to them. Hopefully their successors are not after a piece of the action.

Chances are, the Turkish military men carrying out the coup, already have taken money from one of the parties you cited, and will soon take money from the other party, too... Anyway, I mean, if the Turkish military men play it sharp, and even... byzantine, they could have bags of cash delivered to them from both sides...

What happens in Europe depends entirely on the outcome of this. If it's just a coup I don't expect to see much of a change in invader flows. If it descends into civil war Europe has no choice but to defend its borders militarily. The numbers would just be too big, and nomadbrah pointed out that if they did what they did in 2015, you'd see coups in Europe too with that many coming in.

Erdogan is Obamas soul mate, they talk on the phone regularly and Obama calls him his closest friend of the other world leaders

The horrific Nice terrorist attack must have created further anti Islamic sentiment, however hidden. This could have created further support for marine le pen or at least new powers to arrest and detain. Is this a 'nib this in the bud' global elite move to allow justification for increased Muslim migrants into EU as they will now be asylum seekers looking for shelter from a civil war?

No. unconfirmed. They're buzzing jets over peoples heads which is a basic sign of "Don't fuck with us". Its psychological warfare backed up by big guns.

Sources say its land based and the air force but no news on the navy.

German 'Focus' online magazine says Erdogan is on the way to germany, anybody got input on this?

Erdogan got too many Turkish supporters here.. in other threads i already talked about that and the fights with kurds.

If it's true that would be pretty bad.

edit :posted after the asylum denied posts of others, thanks

Gents, i get the feeling this is a Franz Ferdinand moment. US supported Erdogan, Russian supported Turkish regulars. It can only escalate from here.

Are they mad at the tanks? Are they cheering them?

edit; I only watched some parts, couldn't figure out what was really going on.
