What is Falun Gong?

I've seen this pamphlets before about mediation at a local Indian restaurant. I thought it was some free mediation thing, but it looks like some new age Chinese cult with unusually attractive people on it. The pamphlet start off all spiritual at first than suddenly it talks about mass murder. Somehow it got really big and the Chicoms suppressed it heavily. Here is an interesting section which caught my eye.

Quote:Quote:

In addition to these things, practitioners of Falun Gong must abandon a variety of worldly attachments and desires.[33] In the course of cultivation practice, the student of Falun Gong aims to relinquish the pursuit of fame, monetary gain, sentimentality, and other entanglements. Li's teachings repeatedly emphasize the emptiness of material pursuits; although practitioners of Falun Gong are not encouraged to leave their jobs or eschew money, they are expected to give up the psychological attachments to these things.[56] Similarly, sexual desire and lust are treated as attachments to be discarded, but Falun Gong students are still generally expected to marry and have families.[56] All sexual relations outside the confines of monogamous, heterosexual marriage are regarded as immoral.[58] Although gays and lesbians may practice Falun Gong, homosexual conduct is said to generate karma, and is therefore viewed as incompatible with the goals of the practice.[59]
Falun Gong's cosmology includes the belief that different ethnicities each have a correspondence to their own heavens, and that individuals of mixed race lose some aspect of this connection.[19] Nonetheless, Li maintains that being of mixed race does not affect a person's soul, nor hinder their ability to practice cultivation.[19] The practice does not have any formal stance against interracial marriage, and many Falun Gong practitioners have interracial children.[60]
Falun Gong doctrine counsels against participation in political or social issues.[61] Excessive interest in politics is viewed as an attachment to worldly power and influence, and Falun Gong aims for transcendence of such pursuits. According to Hu Ping, "Falun Gong deals only with purifying the individual through exercise, and does not touch on social or national concerns. It has not suggested or even intimated a model for social change. Many religions ... pursue social reform to some extent ... but there is no such tendency evident in Falun Gong."[62]

Lol. Fags have bad karma. Not quite as hippy as I thought.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falun_Gong The wikipedia entry is pretty interesting.

The website has more info, haven't really bothered to read it all except the intro. Is it banned in China and is it a good reason? What's up with telepathy and divine sight?

I used to pass by this odd cult and its members everyday in New York as a kid. I have no idea what their teachings are. They just seem like every other religion/group centered around a head honcho (a cult of personality).

The party probably dislikes them for diverting attention and power in the form of subjects/followers.

Falun Gong had a pretty huge following and sympathizers here in Hongcover a decade + ago, but with Communist money flooding in they have been largely neutered as the demographics have tipped to non-southern Mandarin speakers. They used to have a giant perma-protest site infront of the Chinese consulate but political pressure on locals have resulted in these structures being destroyed (and protesters have been non-existent)

They had some graphic images claiming that Falun Gong prisoners were an organ source for the CPC

That image was in the pamphlet. Are their organs better quality than regular Chinese organs? They claimed to have 70 million followers as well which sounds ridiculous.

I don't know much about them, but if you ever see one in China run. Even knowing one of these people there is dangerous. They are supposed to be mostly run out and very underground, but if the CCP finds them, they get abducted with the quickness. Many of them have been executed, allegedly.

One of the major reasons others have told me, was that the govt. hates that they cheated so many old people out of their life savings (a major offense to Chinese culture). They also hate them for spreading bullshit health advice and cures that actually hurt people. Their leaders blasphemed the government as well.

It's probably easy to say the CCP hates them more than those Muslims.

They're charlatans, thieves, fraudsters, and huckstering religious zealots. Hard not to support the action of the Chinese government when you learn about what the Falun Gong has actually done.

When they came under pressure from the government in the late 90's, they organized protests that were the largest protests actions in China since Tiananmen. Naturally, the government could not have that.

I've actually done reading on Falun Gong and its history and talked to people who do this and basically they're one of those groups you'll never hear about since the liberals only care about gay marriage and abortion. In terms of beliefs and lifestyle they're pretty much similar to conservative Christians/Buddhists, they don't do drugs or have unmarried sex, that kind of thing. Their teacher tells them not to collect or store money for collective use, and killing and suicide are banned so I'm inclined to believe that they're actually legitimate victims of communism and not fraudsters.

Especially considering that new reports and an entire U.S. Congressional resolution has pretty much confirmed that large numbers of Falun Gong are being murdered for their organs, it's pretty clear to me that they deserve more empathy. PS: Given their respect of tradition and (by now) ardent opposition to communism, I think these people are actually quite good for society from a redpill standpoint. Their more outlandish views aren't more or less crazy than those of devout Christians.

Well, they say that the Chinese government made that estimate. And since they don't smoke or drink they'd have better organs than the average.

edit: some recent links on the subject.

"The (Communist Party) says the total number of legal transplants is about 10,000 per year. But we can easily surpass the official Chinese figure just by looking at the two or three biggest hospitals," Matas said in a statement.
The report estimates that 60,000 to 100,000 organs are transplanted each year in Chinese hospitals.

Quote:Quote:

In late 2014, China announced that it would switch to a completely voluntary donation-based system.
This pronouncement was greeted with great skepticism however, given that between 2012 and 2013, only around 1,400 people signed up to donate (compared to the more than 300,000 in need of organ transplants every year).

article by the Epoch Times, a paper that seems to be run by Falun Gong. covers the same report referenced by CCN.

What is Falun Gong?

Quote:Quote:

Falun Dafa involves the cultivation of a Falun, or “law wheel.” The Falun is an intelligent, rotating entity composed of high-energy matter. The Falun that Master Li Hongzhi plants in a practitioner’s lower abdomen from other dimensions rotates constantly, twenty-four hours a day. (True cultivators can acquire a Falun by reading Master Li’s books, watching his 9-session lectures on video, listening to his 9-session lectures on audiocassette, or studying together with students of Falun Dafa.) The Falun helps practitioners to practice automatically. That is, the Falun refines the practitioner at all times, even though he or she isn’t performing the exercises at every moment. Of all practices made public in the world today, only Falun Dafa has managed to achieve a state in which, “the Fa refines the person.”

The rotating Falun has the same qualities as the universe, and is the universe’s miniature. The Buddhist Falun, the Daoist Yin-Yang, and everything of the Ten-Directional World are reflected in the Falun. The Falun provides salvation to the practitioner when it rotates inward (clockwise), since it absorbs a great amount of energy from the universe and transforms it into Gong energy. The Falun provides salvation to others when rotating outward (counter-clockwise), for it releases energy that can save any being and rectify any abnormal condition. Being in the presence of someone who practices thus benefits a person.

This is more bizarre than chi. So there is a rotating creature in your stomach called a Law Wheel?

Believe it or not, your average educated Chinese person believes equally ridiculous things.

In China, it's rarely a battle of right versus wrong, it's usually wrong facing off with equally wrong.

I'd still like to think that meditation and opposition to homosexuality are better than communism. I mean, these guys may have been slaughtered by the millions by the regime that rules them.

Hahaha! Modern day China is about as capitalist as it gets. Money is the only thing that talks. The government pays lip service to communism but America is more socialist by far.

If you wanna know more about the USA's commie/socialist agenda, just look up articles about it on ROK.

Yup, it's single party authoritarian capitalism that they call "communism". They have portraits of Mao up everywhere, but as soon as he passed Deng Xioping pulled an immediate U-turn and stepped on the accelerator.

I bet girls who practice this will have pretty high notch counts, like the ones who went to catholic school or are born again christians.

If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is.

Communism is never "true communism." Was never the case from the USSR to North Korea. China is Market-Leninist. My wife had to take a political course every year in school talking about the communist ideology and glorifying the CCP. Chinese people care more about making money, but the teachings of Marx and Mao are the final word on anything political—or spiritual for that matter.

This is nothing more than lip service.

In China, Political decisions have never been made based on anything to do with Marx or Lenin. Rather, communist mechanisms have been the tool of political figures looking for a means to eliminate their enemies.

There have been some who genuinely believed, but they were the ones who lost the power struggles.

Mmhmm, the lessons of Mao or Lenin are no longer those of economics but rather those of state control and manipulation. Those classes are simply to provide a link of legitimacy from the era of the revolution, a time revered by all, to the modern CCP, a government disliked by many.

Out-loud communism, such as independent communist journals/websites and the Communist Youth League itself are being reined in or shuttered completely because "communism" sounds like the plague to foreign investors.

Funny enough, I was in Shanghai last week and between meetings, popped in to Starbucks (Jiangsu Lu) with a colleague to get some pseudo-coffee.

He is getting his change and the color drained from his face.
He looks at the barista and starts frantically arguing and shows the note to the cashier.

A lot of apologizing. Boss comes and apologizes.

I am puzzled and don't want to interrupt.

We sit down and I ask him, what the fuck happened?

He tells me, the 10RMB note had Falun Gong writing on it, there was a stamp or something and he returned the note.

I asked him so what, and he said he could be imprisoned or questioned for having that note. He has heard lots of stories to not take a chance.

The 'head barista' came back after 10 mins with a new note.

I mean, who cares, who will notice.

Seemed to be a big deal.
